This camp is located on Mount Desert Island near Acadia National Park. Hiking trails are located less than 2 miles from camp. The island offers biking on carriage trails, hiking with spectacular views, canoeing, kayaking and swimming. Wonderful restaurants and also time to get away and enjoy the quiet of nature. Beautiful views. Peaceful, private spot.
Lots of space for our 2 families. It has a camp feel with nice perks like a dishwasher, laundry and big kitchen island. It's about 20-30 minutes to the island, so we found some nice trails and places to eat close to home. The kids loved being on the shore at low tide and collecting snails and other creatures.
Nice place with an incredible view
This is our second year staying at the Sawyer's cove cabin. We love it here: the view of the water is as good as any I've seen on MDI. The house itself is simply furnished, but very clean and nice, with a nice large dining table looking out on large windows facing the ocean and a nice enclosed porch so you can enjoy the view while avoiding the mosquitoes. There are also deck chairs outside and a small yard. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need, and there is a grill on the porch. There is path down to the water where you can swim off the dock or explore the rocks. Wifi was excellent. We love the location on the quiet side of the island--it is a bit of a drive to Bar Harbor and the park loop road, but the cabin is very close to several good hiking, biking, and swimming spots and to Southwest Harbor, which has good restaurants and shops but is not as overrun with tourists as Bar Harbor or the trails on the park loop road (where it is often hard to find parking for popular spots).
Traditional Maine Camp--comfortable, quiet, VIEWS.
Perfect escape for family vacation! Enjoyed hearing the lobster boats in the morning and watching the spectacular sunset in the evening. Was a great place for two families of 4 and one dog to relax or play. Definitely on the QUIET-SIDE of MDI, away from it ALL. Was happy to leave the TV/Cable behind, although WiFi available for contact with the outside world. Enough space to hang out together, or find a quiet corner for alone time. Tennis and dock a total bonus.
