We enjoyed our first stay on Sanibel island and the owners of this condo (Bob, Camilla and Lisa) were very attentive to all our needs. The welcome bottle of wine was an extra special touch and very much appreciated! The condo is HUGE, much bigger than pictured. All the floors are a nice laminate and the renovated kitchen is beautiful! You could easily have 3 couples staying here! In addition to two outdoor patios, there is a screened in porch to enjoy your meals. It is situated on the north end of the island, on the bay side, right next to the lighthouse. The beach is a short walk across the street. Unfortunately, there was no outdoor grills on the common areas of the condo so if you are cooking, it has to be done on the stove or oven. The only negative is that you can hear noise of the people who live upstairs, but it was not a big problem
There is a pool on the grounds which looked nice but we did not use it since we are beach people. The beach is pretty and everyone walks or jogs on it in the morning. There are only two fitness centers on the island which are about a 20 minute drive from the condo if you are a "gym rat". Also, bike paths run the entire length of the isand and Billy's Bike rental is about a mile from the condo.
Definitely take a ride to the south end and visit Captiva island. There are alot of funky and fun places to eat and shop! Also check out all the beautiful mansions!
The BEST Possible place for beach lovers
Perfect location - last complex before Lighthouse Park. Easy to Walk along the entire east end beachs of Sanibel Island. This particular unit is next to the stairwell to the beach as well. And LOVED the pool. Seldom any children, and positioned for full sun from somewhere on site til plenty late in the day. Interior of this spacious condo is spotless and impeccable. Every kitchen appliance you could possibly want. Filtered water in the frig so no need to buy ice or hassle with bottled water. Beach/pool stuff is here - 6 or 8 big beach towels and 4 chairs. Even an umbrella if one should want to use it (we did not). I see where it could easily accommodate 3 couples. We Hope to stay at this very same unit in the future. (Wish the future was NOW and we did not have to leave!!) LightHouse Café is nearby, but many others are within the 12 mile length of the island. . Oh - and When air conditioner went out, it was repaired promptly the next morning by the owner. There is also an On-Site maintenance man (for the complex) who is often available for questions and will address any exterior building concerns. I highly recommend this place to EVERYONE. HINT for shellers: Take the Captiva Cruises ship to Cayo Costa State Park. Most shells are many times larger than those found on Sanibel.
This property comes as advertised and then some. The interior is immaculate, tremendous amount of space, excellent cookware and the view is to die for. But that is NOT what makes this property stand out. We have been staying on Sanibel for twenty years, always at a two bedroom condo or private home and at Lighthouse Point four previous times. When you stay two or three months at a time, problems always occur. How they are handled can make or break the experience.
Lisa, Bob and Camille could not have done more to make our stay enjoyable. They even ordered my favorite cable TV channel, greeted us with a bottle of wine and promptly returned calls and emails. We even learned a new trick for unclogging a blocked garbage disposal (our fault it clogged up).
We would recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful commune with nature, right from your own balconies!
P.S. There is a small resident alligator to keep you company.
Hi Lisa, We spent 4 glorious weeks in your parents' beautiful condo at Lighthouse Point. The views of the bay, from almost every room as well as the patios, are spectacular. We appreciated the quality of the furnishings, linens and kitchen equipment...overall everything was top notch. Having that little cluster of shops a short bike ride away was very convenient for getting our daily paper, dining at the Lighthouse Cafe and the occasional ice cream at Pinocchios. It was a pleasure dealing with your father who was very responsive to any need that arose. We thank you both for a terrific vacation.
Amazing "Do Nothing" Vacation
We want to thank you and your parents for making our vacation on Sanibel Island so wonderful. The condo was so clean and comfortable it felt like home. The beaches were gorgeous and we enjoyed bike riding around the island every day. We really appreciated all the information you and your father gave us, the welcome basket of fruit, and especially for letting us stay a few extra hours on our last day. That made all the difference to our stay. This was the first “do nothing” vacation we have taken, and I think we will be taking more of these. We hope to be back again next year.
All best wishes to you, your parents, and your family.
A very happy family from Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Sanibel Island, Florida is the perfect choice for your vacation whether you are looking for a relaxing and serene getaway, a family trip or a nature vacation. Enjoy 15 miles of unspoiled beaches, 22 miles of bike paths, 50 types of fish, 230 types of birds, 250 types of shells and 0 stop lights. With a decidedly environmental attitude (over 65% of the island is conservation land, including Ding Darling wildlife refuge & Bird Sanctuary), the residents of Sanibel Island require that the beaches be left in a natural state. As a result shells that accumulate on the beaches – and Sanibel Island is widely regarded as the “Shelling Capital of the Western Hemisphere.” Enjoy the many excellent restaurants and adventures from sea life excursions and sunset cruises and charter fishing to boutique shopping on Sanibel or at the nearby factory outlet mall.
