Overview

About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

This cozy retreat has a remote quality but is actually only three miles from I-90. You can be downtown Spokane in less than thirty minutes and Coeur d'Alene in fifteen minutes. The Centennial Trail that runs from Spokane to Coeur d'Alene, fun for running or biking is less than ten minutes away. The Spokane River Park with boat launch and swimming is less than three miles away. Scenic day trips and activities make this cabin a perfect and peaceful place to stay.

There are three bedrooms, all with new queen beds and down comforters. One bedroom is on the main floor, one in the daylight basement (master bedroom) and one in the loft (my favorite).

The open living room/kitchen area has bamboo floors and outstanding views. A Viking Range and KitchenAid stand mixer may entice you to cook. If you prefer to dine out there are two or three now famous restaurants in Post Falls, minutes down the hill as well as several great places to eat in Coeur d'Alene and Spokane.

There are two bathrooms. The bath on the main floor has an antique clawfoot tub and the other bath, downstairs, has a new tile shower.

Two gas fireplaces will keep you toasty warm on cool evenings, and a window A/C unit will cool the house if the days get too warm, which happens only a few days a year.

We have decorated the cabin with comfortable furniture, hoping you will want to keep coming back.

The view from the cedar deck is breathtaking and at any time you may see moose, elk or deer wandering by the front of the house. A birdwatcher's delight, there are Stellar Jays, Juncos, Chickadees, Robins, Woodpeckers...birds than I can list and even the occasional Bald Eagle!

Due to the massive rock wall we regretfully are no longer allowing children under 21, who can't resist climbing on it and dislodging the large stones. Dangerous and expensive to repair.

The half mile driveway is gravel and steep in places but well maintained in the summer.

This was our primary residence for thirty years and still our little slice of heaven. We hope you will enjoy the same peace on the mountain as we do.

PLEASE NOTE: In the guest comment section a hot tub is mentioned. The hot tub is no longer available....it was 20 years old and finally stopped working. Because of liability and upkeep we have opted against replacing it. We hope this does not stop you from visiting our peaceful retreat.

About Frankie Mcferon-Crumb

We built this log home, beginning in 1980, with the help of family and friends. This was our permanent residence until last year. Our wish is to keep the furnishings simple but at the same time warm and inviting. We hope others get the opportunity to see why we love our mountain home and visit us often.

Frankie Mcferon-Crumb purchased this cabin in 1980

Why Frankie Mcferon-Crumb chose Post Falls

We moved here from Oregon in 1980 to live in beautiful North Idaho and haven't had even a moment's regret.

What makes this cabin unique

Bird and wildlife watching, hiking and dirt biking over miles of old logging roads. Solitude and silent nights. Star filled sky for nighttime deck sitting, prefect for a glass of wine and good conversation. Lots of DVDs and games for your entertainment.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Love the cabin...our trip was short and busy so this wonderful place was lovely to come back to at the end of each day. We look forward to a longer stay next time! Thanks for the flowers, s'mores fixins and comfy beds.

Amazing mountain retreat that provides the perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

Blossom Mountain Retreat was exactly what we were looking for. A remote cabin that is surrounded with beautiful trees that provided a much needed respite from all the craziness of life. It is just minutes from the city and close to highway access. A rustic, clean cabin with all the amenities that one needs to feel right at home. The fresh baked blueberry scones that welcomed us to our home away from home for the week were delicious. The homeowners were wonderful to work with. They were always quick to respond and very helpful. We would highly recommend this wonderful mountain retreat. We hope to return one day soon.

Tranquil, Comfortable and Unique Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We spent 3 nights at the Blossom Mountain Retreat and thoroughly enjoyed our stay nestled into the peaceful northern Idaho hills. Hosts Frankie and Brian have equipped the log home nicely and we found a nice basket of scones awaiting our arrival. A nice touch was the tinder and wood that was prepped and ready to light in the fire pit. That made for a lovely evening sitting by the fire as dusk turned to night, and were surprised when a doe quietly walked by undisturbed by our presence. We found the bedding to be quite comfortable, and enjoyed our mornings on the deck sipping a beverage while listening to the birds and looking out across the hills. Be advised that this property is located about ten minutes up a dirt road, so if you don't want to get your car dusty, look elsewhere. But if you want a place to enjoy the beauty, quiet and tranquility of a comfortable wooded hillside property that is only minutes from the town of Post Falls then I recommend the Blossom Mountain Retreat. Frankie was very responsive in answering questions and appeared ready to do whatever she could to make our stay as nice as possible.

Beautiful location, peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Went for a walk around the house daily for exercise and enjoyed the wildlife and peacefulness of the property. Never turned on the TV all week. Could still get telephone service when needed. One day the temperature was about 85 degrees at the base of the mountain in Post Falls and ten minutes later at the cabin going up the hill the temperature was 70 degrees, which was very comfortable. Sat on the deck up to two hours at a time with very little flying insects to bother us.

First vacation in 2 1/2 years, and glad this was the location we picked for it.

Cabin was clean and spacious.

Great 4 days

  • 5 of 5

Had a very enjoyable 4day stay. Myself and two high school friends get together once a year for a few days of golf. Weather was beautiful. Golf courses were fun and the cabin was spectacular. Frankie does a great job with the accommodations.
