Everything you need -a full kitchen, bedroom, living space & bathroom -has AC & fans! Centrally located to everything & a car is not needed. You can easily hop in a cab it take the bus or simply walk to all of the bars, restaurants & beaches! Manuel Antonio Nattional Park is beautiful & will not disappoint - we saw snakes, sloths, monkeys! The water is beautiful there & bluer than the local beach. Enjoy & Pura Vida!

Jungle accomodation at Manuel Antonio

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Pete's Place 5 nights and although the construction outside is ongoing... had the conveniences we needed including great location, air conditioning, and wifi. (Seemed reasonably priced for 3 guests: 1 on a sofabed). We also had the most memorable swim in a pool, watching a group of monkeys play in the trees! Carla gave us info as we needed. Thank you!

Cute and Cozy, but.....

  • 3 of 5

Overall we had a decent stay here, it is in a great location, close to stores, close to the bus, close to the National Park and Quepos, the beach and several very good bars/restaurants. The property is very lush and beautiful and I can only imagine how it looks when there is not construction going on. We were notified by the owner just a couple of weeks before our arrival that there would be construction going on and perhaps we might want to stay someplace else, however, our trip was over Christmas so finding another place was not going to be easy. Really, the construction mostly affected getting to the pool. We were still able to use the pool but they are putting in stairs, which are going to be great when they are done. We had to walk down a muddy hill around wet concrete and a bunch of junk to get to the pool each day. The pool itself is big and beautiful, however almost every lounge chair is ripped and not usable. I imagine that they will be replaced with the renovations going on. The cottage is a small one bedroom with one bathroom that is in the bedroom. One of the reasons we chose this place is because it said it had a kitchen and we like to make our own breakfast and eat a couple meals in when we travel. It did in fact have a kitchen, but the stove/oven was very outdated and hard to operate. We did get the stove working but were never able to get the oven to actually operate. There was a toaster oven so we made due with that. The wifi doesn't really work so great or at all. We had to be outside of the cottage to actually get a signal. I had notified them several times about it but it was never resolved. Again, not a huge deal, I didn't go there to be online, but I did need to check on my pets and family back home as well as check in for work. I really did want to love this place, however, the fact that most of the renovations weren't done during the slow season was a bit disappointing. The good news is, is that when its all done, this is going to be a perfect spot! Everyone was very kind and accommodating, all things considered and we did have a great time in Manuel Antonio. ¡Pura Vida!

Excellent place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

This is an outstanding place to stay. I have no reservations in recommending this property to anyone. The pool is beautiful and very large. The property is well maintained. The owner greeted us upon arrival showed us the house. Pete was very friendly and helpful. I contacted him twice by phone, during our stay, and he responded immediately. The pool is a very short walk from the house. The location is close to the national park and the town of Quepos. If you are lucky, you will see monkey, but you will certainly hear them on the property. This is a great place to stay for a family. I would think 2 adults and 2 children would be quite comfortable. As for adults only, I would not suggest more than 4, as there is one large bedroom and a convertible couch. The only caveat to consider is there is no view of the ocean from the house or pool, as the property has considerable vegetation surrounding it. This for me was a plus, as I had views of the ocean from the beaches in and outside of the park. I would certainly look to stay at this property on any return trip to this area of Costa Rica and would recommend it to anyone visiting Manuel Antonio.

Thanks,

Marc

Owner's Response: Thanks again Marc for your kind words, I do think four people ( 2 adults and 2 kids,) depending on age might be a too crowded but three has worked fine. Again thanks, hope to see you again one day. Cheers Pete

Great Experience at Pete's Place

  • 5 of 5

We are so glad we stayed at Pete's Place! Pete is very friendly and welcoming while the property is beautiful and lush. It provides the best of both worlds because it feels so secluded and private, but you're still in town and close to civilization. It was like being in the heart of the jungle with a spectacular pool, wifi, and air conditioning.

The house is clean and secure- we never felt unsafe or uncomfortable on the property. There's also a lot of wildlife right outside your door. We didn't encounter anything scary, thank goodness, but we did see an agouti, several geckos, lot of birds, and heard howler monkeys from a distance while at the pool. Pete also has a couple of dogs that are very sweet and friendly. Its easy to get to the main road (its just a little ways down a hill) and it is within walking distance of several restaurants. I would definitely recommend staying here if you want a more genuine experience than a hotel or resort. Pete's Place is a great spot to relax and enjoy Costa Rica.
