Guestbook comments from the owner

Highlights were the tours that Itza arranged for us.

Manuel Antonio National Park

Mangroves at night!!

Sunset Sail

Zipline ( Canopy)

Butterfly Farm

Cafe Milagro was the best for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as the Canopy restaurant at Villas Lirio ( across the street!!)

The pool made our holiday!!

We enjoyed the dogs company when they decided to visit us.

Love the coffee.

The last night we had dinner at Victoria's Restaurant, it was superb and the music was great.

Thanks Pete

A stay in paradise

  • 4 of 5

Our recent family stay at Casa Linda was wonderful. Though the accommodations are a bit tired, this home provided us with everything we needed for our stay. The house is within 10-15 minutes walking distance to an ATM, good grocery shopping and great restaurants - all relatively level walking too. The home easily accommodated our family of 5, with 3 teenagers. As advertised, the walls in the main house do not reach floor to ceiling, allowing the air conditioning from the main living area to filter into the two bedrooms and main bath – the air conditioning worked wonderfully well and was an absolutely necessity during our stay. The master bedroom and bath are separated from the main house by an outdoor alcove so this home would not likely be suitable for a family with small children. The mountain views from the rear deck were breathtaking and just the tonic we needed to de-stress from our busy lives. Watching the light fade from the hills as the bats came out to make their nightly rounds was magical – I could easily have spent an entire week just sitting there watching the cloud formations change as they met the mountain landscape. The pool is exceptional - be prepared for the 121 or so steps up and down - definitely worth it when you get there! A cold beer by the pool was our ritual wind-down after a busy day of white-water rafting, touring the park, taking in a catamaran tour and otherwise lounging on the beach. Having a concierge service available to us was an amazing perk. Hazel was available almost 24/7 to answer any questions we had, offer advice on things to do and expertly facilitated all our excursions - her assistance was invaluable and went a long way to make our stay even more enjoyable. We will definitely be making a return trip to Costa Rica!

Great Place to Stay in Manuel Antonio!

  • 5 of 5

My family--two adults and two teen girls--stayed at Pete's Place for week in June. It was our favorite place of our three week trip. Though the house sits just off the main road, we did not find road noise to be an issue at all. It was easy walking distance to stores, restaurants, and the bus--just a block or two--unlike another place we stayed where "easy walking distance" meant a 20 to 30 minute walk on a steep winding dirt road. You definitely do not need a car here--we did fine with the bus and occasional taxi (taxi stand 1 block away). When you enter the gate it feels like you are in another world. The vegetation is lush and the two decks provide an ocean and mountain view and have hammocks and chairs. The house itself is a little older, but it is very spacious and comfortable, complete with washer/dryer and everything you need to cook. AC and wifi worked great. The absolute best thing about Pete's Place is the huge private pool. It's a short walk through the jungle down some stairs to a beautiful pool set back in the jungle. We saw more wildlife here than on our guided walk in the Curi Canchi Reserve in Monteverde. When getting out of the pool on our first day, I looked up and saw a sloth in the tree right by the pool. He stayed there for most of the week. One day a huge family of squirrel monkeys (about 20 including moms with babies) came passing through. Another day we were visited by white-faced monkeys and there are birds galore. You can even turn on the lights and swim at night. Pete is wonderful--available to answer questions and help out when needed, but gives you plenty of privacy. We loved our stay at Pete's Place and would highly recommend Pete's Place to others. It is certainly a gem in the Manuel Antonio area.

Our home away from home

  • 5 of 5

When we visit Quepos/Manuel Antonio, we always stay at Pete's Place! We like to "get local" when we visit new places and Pete's Place offers a relaxing alternative to a hotel (It was our second visit to Costa Rica in 3 years). We love the privacy (although Pete and his wonderful dogs live onsite, we never see him) and we love the pool! We never bother to rent a car because public transportation is available within short walking distance and all the great restaurants are within a mile or two of Pete's Place. Each day, we spend the morning at the beach and the afternoon at the pool. Around 5pm, we have drinks and decide where and when to eat dinner.....couldn't be more relaxing. Lastly, his friend Itza, will help arrange ANY activity you wish to try...zipline, massage (she is a professional therapist), boat trips, etc. During this recent trip, we became friends with 3 types of monkeys and a Sloth who called our tree "home", almost every day we were there. What a great place!

Family home for family wedding

  • 4 of 5

Pete's Place provided us a place to house part of our family for a destination wedding. This is a comfortable and affordable home centrally located in Manuel Antonio adjacent to the main road. We had good access to groceries, restaurants and taxis. The bus line is also on the main road for good, cheap local transportation.

The owner helped us set up our airport transfers and advised us on other local needs. He was available whenever we needed and there is a housekeeper and gardener working to keep everything in good shape.

We enjoyed the pool at the edge of the jungle and the views from the veranda. The wifi worked well with all our devices.

If you are concerned about security, rest assured. We called the place a fortress because it takes 3 keys to get from the gate into the house.

Spring Trip

  • 5 of 5

Pete's Place was an awesome place to stay for Spring Break. We are 2 adults and one teenager and it was perfect. Everyone was so nice and willing to help with whatever. Pete was around if we needed, but was not all over us. Itza took care of all our tours and transportation and did a great job. My wife says that she also gives a great massage on the beach! This is not a resort, but if you want to ride the bus, eat and hang out with the locals, I highly recommend it. The pool is really awesome. After a day full of adventures, come home and jump in a huge, private pool set in the jungle. That's what I'm talking about! Thanks Pete and Itza!
