The Yellow Rose

  • 5 of 5

Family loved the cabin! We had a good time in the beautiful upper canyon. Manager was there on time to let us in and even gave us a lot of firewood. Thanks!

A new family tradition in the making

  • 4 of 5

The Yellow Rose Retreat is a rustic treat. We enjoyed the wildlife that visited multiple times a day. A short hike to the river and close to town as well. We only had a little hiccup and that was trying to get into the cabin when we got there. Once we got ahold of Tom, we were in quickly and on our way to a special family gathering.

Nice place, poorly handled by VRBO, needs thorough cleaning...

  • 3 of 5

VRBO could not get us a good number to contact the property manager to meet for a key and information. The number in their "welcome" letter is for a person no longer employed by this owner. After we searched the website on the property thoroughly and numerous phone calls, we got in touch with "Tom" who was very gracious and helpful. We mopped the floors when we arrived and before we left. Faucet in one side had frozen and burst so it sprayed on whoever turned it on. Glass top table in "A" unit had corner broken out, we were concerned for grandkids safety. Wi-Fi is not installed, phone signal is intermittent on the front porch. Got to feed a deer from the palm of our hand while surrounded by grandkids, quiet, peaceful place.

This was by far the worst stay ever! No one was there to give us the keys to the house or the hot tubs. Then the owner gave me a number to call and he had quit because he was never able to get in contact with the owners. The house needs to be up to date and there is no Ac. I would not recommend this house to anyone!!

Owner's Response: I am sorry that you did not have a good stay at our property. The previous property manager was fired after that weekend for continued poor performance. We have since found a great replacement. So, you will never have a problem being let into the house or hot tubs. We are in the process of refreshing the properties with new linens and such, for an updated look. As for the AC, a lot of the properties in Ruidoso do not have any AC, due to the cooler climate during the summer. This also has been reflected under the Amenities in VRBO. I would encourage past and perspective tenants to give us a chance and stay with us. You will not be disappointed in the service or the property.

My family and another family stayed at the cabin over spring break. We cooked all of our meals on site. There were 11 of us. We all slept comfortably. We liked having the washers and dryers.

The wildlife around the cabin was great.

We would definitely stay again,or recommend it to anyone.
