My name is Kara, and I am so pleased you are considering staying at Cedar Tree House! I enjoy welcoming people here to this beautiful part of the Country, and my husband Kurt and I live next door. I enjoy hiking, yoga, volunteering for various organizations, traveling, consensus decision-making, cross-cultural exchange, cooking, singing, managing projects/events, XC skiing, bicycling, wildlife watching, speaking French, good wine, great movies, and people of all ages.
Kara purchased this House in 2010
Why Kara chose Bellingham
Such a beautiful mature forest and creek. Some of the trees are 100+ feet tall. Very centrally located for all the wonderful outdoor activities that beautiful Whatcom County has to offer, yet still so close to town.
What makes this House unique
Stage in natural grass amphitheater, yurt, very large lawn, large wrap around deck looking down at the creek, bonfire circle, sink in every bedroom; free wifi; lots of off-street parking
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date. 50% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
A great stay
The cedar tree house was a great fit for our group. We liked the sleeping options and arrangements and we had plenty of space. The kitchen was well-stocked and we enjoyed the hot tub. When we had a small issue the manager communicated well. I recommend the cedar tree for anybody wanting a private place for a group of people.
Cedar Tree House
The house was great, but the listing did not give an accurate description of the bedrooms and beds and there was no mention that the yurt could not be used for sleeping. There were way too many rules (11-page rental agreement?) and the need for an orientation meeting is crazy. If you want people to sort their garbage, you have to make it a lot easier. Still had a good time and there were no real issues.
We are pleased this group enjoyed their stay. We do list both on the VRBO rules and in the rental agreement that yurt cannot be used for sleeping--it doesn't meet code as a bedroom--he must have missed that. Our rental agreement is 5 pages, only two of which are rules and policies--not sure where he gets his figures. We offer an orientation to large groups, which many renters find helpful--reduces the burden on them to be monitors of their group--however, Al declined this, and that was fine with us, so I am not sure why he raises it as a concern. This is the first time anyone has ever complained that our bed/bedroom description isn't accurate--though I can't see anywhere it isn't accurate, so I don't know how to respond to that without specifics. With specifics, we would be glad to make any corrections that are needed. We also send all our guests a much more detailed room by room description than the VRBO set up allows
Good place for family vacation.
My family just spends 1 weeks in the Cedar tree house last week, very relaxed and beautiful views, the host so kind and nice people, good communication and quick response, we are very enjoy our vacation here and will come back.
Had a great time with old graduate school classmates. Plenty of room to lounge around and relaxing stream from down below.
Great place to retreat and stay indoors!
Beautiful property and comfortable bedroom and kitchen/dining arrangements that allow for a group of 13 people to gather and relax. Kara was a great host and very responsive and I fully recommend this home! An awesome option for group gatherings that is away from the noise of the city while being ~10min drive from local grocery stores.
We had a great time!!! Cedar Tree House was clean, roomy, comfortable and beautiful.
Three wineries in the neighborhood with tasting rooms, lots of live music, San Juan Islands, more great micro breweries than we can track, Vancouver/Victoria BC, comedy, casinos, Mt. Baker, best in US scenic drives, organic farms/berry picking, farmer's market, outdoor sculpture, bird watching, many beautiful parks/walks within minutes
