We own the Tapas bar downstairs & took over the apartment and renovated it so our friends, clients and family could have private lodging when in town

Great apartment in a great neighborhood!

  • 5 of 5

Lovely apartment, in a lively neighborhood over a happening bar. Wouldn't recommend for older couples or people who are really early to bed. Place comes with all the amenities.

I really liked the location, and the property.

  • 4 of 5

Location location location, was so good. I would go back because i love this area of TO and it is not too far from downtown either. Clean, all the amenities needed for eating in. As stated in other reviews, the noise from below can keep you up a little later at night, the bass travels, so if you are a light sleeper you need to consider this. There are so many good restaurants and shops close by within walking distance so this is definitely a bonus.

Perfect stay and location for 2 people

  • 5 of 5

This property is a great location for a unique and convienent experience of Toronto. The free parking is a huge plus! The owner was quick to get us an extra pillow. Only thing is there is really only able to sleep 2 people on the double bed. I was the 3rd sleeping on the pull out couch which was ok for me for a few nights, but I'm use to camping and sleeping on a pad. There is plenty of room for 4 people if you can bring you own air mattress for the other 2. Other than that absolutely perfect place to stay for 2 people! Would definetly stay here again for 2 people. Thanks so much!

Everything you need!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the property 3 years ago and it hasn't really changed. We really liked our stay then and as well this time with our 7yo boy in tow. He wasn't bothered with the late night music from downstairs and I'm often up till then most nights so it wasn't a bother for us. Touring Toronto with our kid from this location really set up how close it is to everything with multiple parks, playgrounds, splash pads, wading and swimming pools all around us in easy walking distance. We had some issues with wifi but neighbors let us use theirs, lol, and just never found time to bother Sandy about it :D My husband noted that the one thing that would tip this off the scales for us is a larger, more comfortable couch in the living area for when we wanted to chill out in the A/C watching tv :)

Owner's Response: Great to see you guys back -i will be back at Ikea couch shopping in the very near future (A bigger pull-out would help too) Cheers Sandy

Nice place for 1st time stay in Toronto

  • 3 of 5

It is a generally nice place in a cool part of town. Overall a great experience with a few minor inconveniences that didnt bother us much but should be noted for future tenants. Bar staff were helpful and knowledgable about the area. Fantastic restaurants line Ossington and streets close by. It's above a cool bar called Reposado, so expect noise from about 10pm-2am. Noise is not too bad, like a noisy neighbor listening to loud jazz and rock music. However our second night (a wednesday) it sounded like a live band was playing in the building, about 4x as loud as other nights. VERY far from subway stations, it is difficult to use the TTC as a first timer to get anywhere from the apartment, so we used uber which was very quick and cheap. Some of the kitchen lighting fixtures didnt work/needed new bulbs. Wifi can be touchy to connect to but is strong once connected. TV/cable is great once running but TV takes ~10 minutes to turn on. In my opinion this place is best for people who want to be out and about for most of their stay. Exactly what you expect for the price.

not for us..but good for the following...

  • 2 of 5

If we were between 18-22 years old, this is the perfect place..great location close to bars & restaurants. You get to the apartment thru the outside bar and up fire escape and into kitchen where you are greeted by a mop and broom. You will not notice the difference between the pictures on VRBO and the reality..its just a place to crash. With no window in bedroom it's really great for sleeping late into the day. The heavy metal playing downstairs wouldn't keep you awake, because you would be down there enjoying it.

Having an inebriated person knock on your door at 3 am and then discover him asleep on the concrete floor of the porch next to yours when you go outside to sit on the fire escape in the morning wouldn't be scary to you. Would be pretty funny and you'd probably miss the morning anyway!

So what if there is no welcoming list of neighborhood restaurant recommendations, nearby parks and attractions, or subway least there is a scribbled note telling you the wi-fi code and that the television takes 10 minutes to come on.. but does not mention that there is no remote to change volume or stations. You aren't going to watch tv or venture off this cool street anyway.

Only 2 light bulbs in kitchen and a fridge door that slams into the who needs a kitchen anyway?

Getting in touch with the landlord both before arriving and after getting there..impossible! Good! You wouldn't have to interact with authority and who needs toilet paper and soap or to know why the internet is not connecting or where the aforementioned remote is anyway? You are young and can roll with the punches and enjoy the environment and the affordable accommodations.

Owner's Response: You unfortunately arrived the day before a street festival on ossington so noise levels were unually high Theres a map on the vrbo listing We are directly below the apt -if u needed more toiletries we have an unlimited supply in the restaurant. Theres also a drug store & bakery 20 yds from eithet side of the front door so anything you might need is there. TV remote has been replaced & we have full HD cable Saying who needs a kitchen is rather rude Ive stayed at a lot of vrbo apts & the only thing missing from ours is a dishwasher-hence 90.00 a night price point Theres 3 lights in the kitchen -not 2
