This was our first time staying at the Blue Heron House, but it won't be our last. My husband was looking for a relaxing getaway for his 42nd birthday and the location didn't disappoint. We've stayed at other properties on VRBO in the past and this home is definitely in our top 3. The house is decorated beautifully with beach motif all through out, no detail was spared. The views were beautiful!! We took 3 other couples along with us and the house accommodated us all comfortably. It was nice to have 3 cooked meals a day around the table, hang out by the pool, sit out on the deck to read and tan. This home is just what we needed to shut our minds down from work for a few days. The towels and linens were of great quality. Susan, the owner was very pleasant, laid back and responsive to our questions, and she made the check in and check out process really easy, which I appreciated as I only had about 3 weeks to pull together the celebratory weekend. All of our friends were impressed, and was so glad that it was only an hour drive away and that we didn't have to catch a flight back after such a relaxing weekend. They all want us to make this a yearly trip. I must mention we also rented the boat for a day- Well worth it!! The view of all the homes along the bay were astonishing, and then to come back and have crabs lined up in the crab pots to cook, was just icing on the cake!! In case you can't tell, we had a great time, in only 3 days!! Highly recommend to anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of life!!
My friends and I spent a great long weekend at this house and it was really special. The place had everything we needed and nothing we didn't. The layout is great and the house ACTUALLY sleeps 15 people comfortably; no air mattresses needed, nobody sleeping on the floor. The little cove for kayaking is so peaceful. Plenty of room for activities, inside and out. Great large back deck, nice-sized yard for cornhole and bocce. Pool is nice, everything is in good shape. Local golf course is nice too, Piankatank River Golf Club. Owner is responsive and on top of things. Would love to bring my group back here next year.
We stayed for 7 night at this wonderful home. Our kids enjoyed the kayaks, crab pots, ping pong, movies, pool, fishing and more. We played tennis on the local courts and rode our bikes that we brought all around this quaint, adorable town. So much fun stuff to do. This house is much bigger than the pictures depict. We did a lot of cooking and baking and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. The pool was fantastic, again, bigger than expected. The porch was ideal for watching sunsets and the dock was fun to play with minnows and fish from. Many of our friends with homes in Deltaville came to visit and they also were extremely impressed with the house. You won't find much if anything like this in Deltaville. It is nicely refreshed and renovated with pretty decorations and nautical/sailboat themes. The kids loved the rec room. You could easily kayak to a small sandy island. We hope to rent again next year, for sure. This is a fantastic find!!
This was our third stay at Blue Heron so I am overdue to write a review. All the other reviewers are right about the pictures not doing justice. Imagine the photos in a magazine. That's what it's like coming through the front door. The home is beautifully decorated and the views are incredible. There is space to relax, stretch out and be together. The downstairs gives older kids a fun space of their own to play and sleep. It acts as a 4th bedroom within ear shot. Anything we needed was there from kitchen items to grill, from kayaks to crabbing lines. No one was ever at a loss for something to do. Susan and Jef have left no detail out. The home's greatest asset is probably its layout. In the morning we could enjoy a cup of coffee on the deck, take a dip in the pool and walk down to the dock with the early risers to feed the swan family swimming by. You are not confined, restricted or tip toeing around until everyone is awake. The Blue Heron welcomes friends, couples, families of all kind (multiple, growing and multigenerational) and even your sailboat. Provisions are easy to find around town and at farmer stands in season. Rent once and you will return! I can see my children bringing their children in years to come. Thanks Susan and Jef. See you again soon!
We had a fantastic weekend at the Blue Heron House. Had two sailors competing at Fishing Bay Yacht Club in Laser Acc's and the location was fabulous. What a wonderful home and a lovely vacation. Being able to use to pontoon boat to watch the sailboat races was perfect.
Spent a great week exploring the area from Mathews to White Stone, Urbana, Stingray Point and Belle Island. In total we created approximately 60 landscape paintings during the week, a number of them from the backyard at the Blue Heron House. The marinas down at Stingray Point and Timberneck Lane were two of the favorite spots to paint. Thanks to the Londrey's for the great place to stay and all the pre-trip assistance!
