Overview

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-9)

'Tween Waters Cottage' sits directly on the sugar sand between the Gulf of Mexico and the Intracoastal Waterway -- giving guests the opportunity to enjoy both beach and boating activities. This single-family, two-story Gulf-front home has all the charm of 'Old Florida' and all the comforts of the 21st century, including wi-fi, 2 flat-panel high-definition cable TV's, and unlimited free phone service to the USA and Canada.

With 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, the house makes a lovely vacation, honeymoon, or winter retirement home for a couple with occasional guests... or for families and groups of up to 8 (9 with a high-rise aerobed).

You'll love the comfy furnishings and the thoughtful amenities, including a large gas barbecue grill, the Gulf-front picnic shelter for lunches on the beach, padded sun-loungers and Adirondack chairs (so you don't miss a leisurely sunset), a porch or deck off each of the 3 upstairs bedrooms, and the private dock across the street. It's easy to drop a fishing line -- or rent a boat or bicycle from the shop just down the street.

The first-floor den/4th bedroom has a queen bed (NOT a sofa bed) and an adjoining bathroom... ideal for folks who don't do stairs. The king bed in the Master Bedroom features a 2.5 inch memory-foam mattress topper -- it's like sleeping on a cloud!

'Tween Waters Cottage' is professionally cleaned before you arrive and is provided to you fully furnished, including beach towels, sand toys, bath and kitchen supplies, and paper products. Shopping, restaurants, and all the attractions of the Tampa Bay area are close by, but once the soothing sight of the Gulf and the relaxing sound of the surf work their magic, you will find it difficult to leave. This quiet residential neighborhood has no high-rise condos within a thousand feet. The beach feels like your own private piece of paradise.

Enjoy the water view from every room, a gorgeous sunrise every morning, and a brilliant sunset every night. You, your family and friends will make memories for a lifetime -- at 'Tween Waters Cottage.'

About Dan Callahan

We both cherish our childhood memories of vacations at the shore. For Barbara, it was picnics on the sand and swimming in the Atlantic. For Dan, it was fun times with the family water-skiing and boating on the Delaware River. So, when the rare opportunity came to purchase our own beachfront vacation home on the gentle Gulf of Mexico with a dock for boating and fishing, we couldn't pass it up. Now we share our precious find with other families looking to relax and re-connect by the sea.

Dan Callahan purchased this house in 1990

Why Dan Callahan chose Florida Central West

'Tween Waters Cottage' is only 30 minutes away from our main family home in St. Petersburg. This ensures we are nearby to respond quickly if our guests need us -- and makes it easy for us to use the Cottage frequently ourselves.

What makes this house unique

'Tween Waters Cottage' has a very peaceful, private atmosphere. No canyons of condos. No shared walls with strangers. The house is a rarity in our part of Florida -- a direct beachfront single-family home nestled between two other single-family homes. There are plenty of restaurants and activities nearby... but coming home to the Cottage makes you feel like you are entering another world... and leaving your cares behind.

Very relaxing and private

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time staying at this cottage. We love the casual feel of it and the natural setting. The beach area is great and private as there are few multiple housing buildings around. The house is enough for a while family and offers all comforts for a beach stay

A Great Getaway

  • 4 of 5

Not fancy, just a quiet, shady getaway right on the Gulf. We've been returning here for many years and nothing much has changed but that's OK.

Cozy and Private descriptions this beach getaway !

  • 5 of 5

If your looking for a comfortable roomy private old Florida natural setting beach cottage on the Gulf of Mexico then this hidden gem is perfect. The beach is so private you feel like your on your own island with beautiful blue water to play in. There are several sea turtle nests right at the edge of the sand dune. How cool is that! During the heat of day you can lounge under the large trees as you watch the surf and all sea birds. This is a really special place. The upstairs balcony is great for morning coffee and relaxing The house is equip with everything you need. Just pack your swimsuit and enjoy yourself.

My favorite vacation to date!

  • 5 of 5

This beach house has everything you need. Lots of towels, dishes, utensils and anything else you can think of. Our kids stayed in the back yard if we weren't on the beach. We loved not having to pack a cooler or bag to go to the beach. Rub on some sunblock and go!

A true hidden gem

  • 5 of 5

I can't put into words how amazing this home, area, beach, and owners are. Dan was more than willing to answer any questions I had, and even was at the house within a couple hours to repair a toilet. It had all the comforts and amenities of home. The fishing was phenomenal. I just can't put it all into words! We WILL be back!

Not very clean, run down, fridge not working...

  • 2 of 5

We arrived with our things and lots of food. Fridge Not working...he brought 2 large coolers & ice & said he would get a new fridge. He then called and said he didn't like what he saw, so he have one delivered on Wednesday (we were there Saturday! 5 days of living from a cooler with refreshing ice) we did not plan on spending close to $3,000 to live from a cooler! None of us wanted to lose a day waiting on fridge on Wednesday, it finally started working about 50%, so we declined it and continued with coolers, ice and some items in the fridge 😞. The most used door had 2 broken screens, downstairs toilet is broken, sinks ALL crusty & dirty...basically..NOT worth the money...the beach area is Not the best..tide comes high and beach is short there. Trying to get out to go get ice for the coolers was a pain the street is busy! Be careful trying to back out in traffic!!! Not the best beach nor house...will Not go back to Indian Shores, nor That house!
