About John Giuffre

Corinne and I live in Galveston, Texas on the Gulf of Mexico in addition to owning a condo at The Lodge at Mountaineer Square. This provides us with a complete change of scenery whenever we travel. We also wanted to encourage our six grandchildren to participate in both summer and winter sports and felt Mt. Crested Butte provided the ideal setting for them. I recently retired and we hope to spend at least 4-6 weeks a year during the off peak periods enjoying our home in this beautiful area of Colorado.

John Giuffre purchased this condo in 2010

Why John Giuffre chose Crested Butte Area

Crested Butte and surrounding area is the wildflower capital of Colorado. The Lodge at Mountaineer Square was built in 2007 which makes it one of the newest resorts on the mountain.

What makes this condo unique

The Lodge at Mountaineer Square is one of the few resorts in Mt. Crested Butte with central air conditioning. This condo has views down valley in addition to mountain views from the balcony.

Perfect Condo on the Mountain!

  • 5 of 5

The condo is immaculate and both the air conditioning and gas fireplace work...and the t.v.s are easy to use (not always the case with vacation homes)! Can't beat two bathrooms and location on mountain at shuttle stop. Perfect location for summer hiking or winter skiing. Very soft living room rug and cozy ski decor, but not "tired" looking. Washer/dryer convenient and the unit is on the end, so you have windows on three sides. Staff friendly, too! Slight issue - needs a firmer bed. Wonderful place and we would love to stay again! Did I mention how clean it is?! :)

The Perfect Stay

  • 5 of 5

Not one fault. I recommend this accommodation 100%. I go to Crested Butte to ski and this is a great condo to come back too after a hard day on the mountain.

Amazing stay over New Year's!

  • 5 of 5

This is long overdue, but want to share what a great property this is. We stayed over New Year's and loved the location and quality of this location. The condo is AMAZING! Everything looks brand new and it had everything we needed to prepare meals in the condo. The location is just a few steps away from the lift, and there several restaurants, bars, and a grocery store nearby.

The logistics went really smooth and made this a memorable trip our family.

Awesome condo in a terrific location

  • 5 of 5

My family just finished our stay in this property and couldn't be happier. John responded within an hour to every email that we sent (we booked last minute and he made it happen) and was super helpful throughout the process. The condo ended up being much nicer than we expected--it has terrific finishes and is much bigger than we thought it would be. We had plenty of room for our family to spread out and enjoy our time that. The Lodge itself is the newest one on the mountain (according to the front desk) and it looked it. Everything is in great shape, has an indoor/outdoor pool, great location to walk to the base area to explore/hike.

If you have any hesitations about this property, you shouldn't. As others have said, we hope to go back soon! Thanks again John!

Awesome accommodations with view - Great location!

  • 5 of 5

This condo really made our five night stay enjoyable from the decor, to the fully appointed kitchen and it had plenty of room for just relaxing. The location made it easy to do a variety of things so we didn't have to spend a lot of wasted time on the road. The mountains and lakes were really nice during the summer. If you like to fish there are plenty of lakes in the area. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We will be going back soon. You won't be disappointed.

Great Stay

  • 4 of 5

This was a great condo. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals. The decor was great and made you feel very comfortable. It had a lot of room and could easliy accomodate 4 people. The front desk staff always answered our questions and even had an HDMI cable that we could borrow. The location was very close to the lifts (about 3 blocks) and it was very quiet. The mountain was great and had a lot of friendly staff. The terrain was challenging enough for all skiers. The bus stop was right outside the back door and it was very easy to use and came to all of the stops every 15 minutes. Downtown Crested Butte was such a charming town and all of the historic buildings (over 100 years old) are a must see. The grocery store in town had everything that was needed. The restaurants in town were wonderful. I would stop by the rum distillery if in town too. Very friendly people and very interesting drinks. The 2 downsides to the lodge was that you need to pay $20 to park per day and there is not another place to park that is close. The other downside is that it is not a true ski in/ski out. The lifts are very close (about 3 blocks right out the back door) but you can not put your skis right on and ski out or keep your skis on and ski in. Eventhough I did see 2 downsides, I would still highly recommend this condo and stay here again!
