This was the most beautiful, most peaceful and the most restful place I have ever stayed. I came to "get away from it all," and was blessed with a quaint little cottage, the companionship of beautiful horses and some really busy chickens! John and Nicole were wonderful hosts and I loved having free run of their organic garden. Great place for a solitary retreat.!!
Charming cabin on the farm
Well ,it was a great choice as far as we were concerned, quiet, close to Nanaimo,Lady Smith etc.Great day trips, lots to do,close to the airport.Cottage had everything we needed including cute back deck for barbecues, facing barn/animals,not to mention the fresh eggs and homemade jelly.Nicole was very respectful of our privacy,we’re in for the next trip, probably in the fall😀
A wonderful stay in Broody Rooster
My husband, 4 year old daughter and I were very happy with our stay at Nicole and John's cottage! It was a nice break from the city. We all enjoyed hanging out with the horses, chickens and listening to the the songbirds. We were comfortable in the cottage. The bed was nice to sleep in. Our hosts provided tea, coffee and eggs in the well-equipped kitchen. They were helpful in giving us information on interesting trails and other places to visit. There was an interesting and eclectic options of books and CDs.
I used to play croaking frogs on my phone to help me sleep at night and so I felt fortunate to experience the frogs croaking at night - for real. Among the places we visited were Westwood Lake, North Island Wildlife & Rehab Centre and Transfer Beach in Ladysmith. We also spent some time just hanging out, chillin' and napping. It was great not to have to rush anywhere. We all feel energized and recharged ready to get back to our usual routine! We plan to come back for sure. :)
I loved the cottage and property...quaint, charming, peaceful and loved the free range chickens
I have not been this well rested in ages. I love country life. The cottage is fully appointed and so idyllic in its setting and also the activity and character of the free range chickens and roosters, yet they didnt make a mess of the front or back porch. I loved their companionship and that of Oscar the cat also. Nicole and John are lovely hosts. I was sad to leave after 6 days and will definately return.
Nice peaceful place with a great location away from the crowds. Animals were fun. Great hosts.
We spent six nights on the farm and enjoyed them all. Having the garden available for fresh food was a nice addition to the fresh eggs from the on site hens. Clean and comfortable. Great environment to relax away from the city. Convenient to Nanaimo and Duncan. Very nice hosts. We would stay there again.
Very nice and quite location
The owners are wonderful
The animals and the garden was the best thing
We will go back
