This unique and one of a kind house was featured on the HGTV and GAC shows 'You Live in What?' in 2015. It was built in 1861, originally as a residence, with wood siding and the entrance facing Jones Street. Around the turn of the century, it was converted to a grocery store, stuccoed, and the front door was moved to the corner, like many of the businesses in the Landmark Historic District. It remained a grocery until 1980 and then was converted back to a residence, although the door remained at its present location on the corner.
The house is located on Jones Street, which is reputed to be the most beautiful street in Savannah. You are within walking distance of everything in the Landmark Historic District, and only blocks from Clary's, Mrs. Wilke's Dining Room, the Firefly Cafe, and the Mercer House. River Street, Broughton Street, and Forsyth Park are all within walking distance through the beautiful squares of Savannah.
The house is very open and surprisingly spacious inside, with a very large modern kitchen, which is open to the living and dining area. Be a couch potato, while watching the wall mounted 42 inch flat screen TV. Or enjoy your favorite program or movie while preparing a meal in the totally renovated kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped and has brand new stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops.
The bedroom is separated from the living area by sliding glass panels. The bathroom is large and has a jetted shower.
Enjoy your morning coffee or an evening glass of wine in your cozy private landscaped courtyard.
This house is very comfortable for one or two adults, and up to two younger children, or three adults only. It is not suitable for two couples. If your group consists of two couples, I would suggest booking a property that has two bedrooms.
This house is pet friendly for an additional fee. However, due to insurance restrictions, certain breeds of dogs, any dog whose lineage contains a part of that breed, or any dog with a previous bite or attack history, are not allowed on the premises. I moved to Savannah in 2004 because I fell in love with it when my older sons attended The Savannah College of Art and Design. I currently live a short walk from this rental.

I bought this property because it gives guests the opportunity to have an entire house with private courtyard to themselves. Most one bedroom properties are condos without any outside space or ones that share a courtyard.

Amazing jewel in the heart of Savannah’s historic district!
My husband and I (and our two Wheaten Terriers) stayed for 3 nights at this lovely, spotlessly clean house. Anything you can imagine needing was there, and the furnishings were modern and very comfortable. My husband is disabled, so he was able to take the free shuttle bus to the river front, and I found the walk there with my pups absolutely beautiful. Betty met us at the house to explain its details and recommend restaurants and places to visit. Her attention to detail is evident throughout the house and garden. We loved our stay!
Three days in Savannah
Perfect spot to explore the historic district and other neighborhoods nearby. The home was very comfortable, lots of natural light, and quiet in evenings. We would stay again if returning to Savannah.
Can't be beat!
Superb property in a great historic district location. Third time we've stayed at this location and we'll be back. Convenient to everything. Exceptionally well appointed. Bonus is the totally private courtyard. The owner is extremely responsive; we have never had a problem that wasn't addressed immediately.
It is a lovely little house and garden on a safe, attractive street in the Historic District.
I wish I could give this house more than 5 stars. It’s stylishly and comfortably furnished, and conveniently located near cafes, restaurants, museums, and a grocery store. We ate in 2 of our 6 nights because it was such a pleasant place to be. Betty, the owner met us at check-in to orient us to the house and the lovely neighborhood. She also provided a binder with useful information and restaurant recommendations. She also responds quickly to emails. We’ve stayed at quite a few rental properties, and this one was by far the best!
We really enjoyed staying at this property! It was so cute and had everything we needed! We will definitely stay here again when we come to Savannah!
We had another wonderful stay at Betty's property. We have stayed there several times over the years and are never disappointed. Betty is fantastic to work with and always meets us at the house upon arrival. The house is on one of the most beautiful streets in Savannah and it is an easy walk to all the attractions. Love the private courtyard to have coffee early in the morning and refreshments in the afternoon. Wonderful visit. Thank you Betty.
