Beautiful Barnard - My holiday dream come true.

  • 5 of 5

Where to begin - brilliant! lovely comfortable yet stylish décor, this home is clean and, inviting, sheets smelt lovely and clean. Debbie was fantastic. Situated ideally. And if you love snow this is the place for you. The only downside is that now I have discovered this place its hard not to daydream about going back. Silver lake house don't go changing. :)

Beautiful fall colors

  • 4 of 5

The house is situated looking over a lake, in a great location for hiking and visiting nearby Woodstock.

It was comfortable and furnished with everything we needed.

In the morning we would walk to the Barnard General store, pick up warm scones, the WSJ and NY Times, delightful.

The only issue we had was low water pressure in the upstairs shower (but the owner assured us that the plumbing was to be redone in 2017).

Charming, cozy cottage--plenty of space, all the amenities, and a stunning location.

  • 5 of 5

Debbie was incredibly welcoming and easy to work with. The house was clean and very comfortable. We had a wonderful long weekend at the lake cottage. Our dog didn't want to leave! Very relaxing, and nearby lots of interesting places to visit--

Woodstock, the Appalachian Trail, Queechee, Apple picking in Pomfret, Silver Lake. Don't miss the delicious "vermonter" breakfast sandwich at the General Store in Barnard! Thanks for everything, Debbie, we will come back and most certainly would recommend to friends and relatives.

Wonderful home, gorgeous views, terrific owner, what more can you ask for?

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful week on Silver lake in October 2015. For many years, we have been renting lake houses in New England in the fall and this was definitely our favorite of all time. The house itself is charming, tastefully decorated, open, sunny and immaculate. All details have been considered and so our stay was comfortable and relaxing. The views from the main living areas and the wraparound deck are spectacular and we were fortunate to be there at the perfect time in one of the prettiest autumn seasons in a while, although I imagine all seasons there are beautiful. The grounds are extensive, lovely and well maintained. While we did not try water sports at this time of year, there are kayaks, paddle boat and a convenient dock as well as chairs, a hammock and a fire pit. We enjoyed the centrally located fireplace almost every night and lots of wood was conveniently stacked by the house. We cooked in most nights and found the kitchen to be well equipped. Beds were comfortable with end tables and lights you could actually read by on both sides-- something you hardly ever find. The Barnard General store is close by and great for breakfast and lunch and the beautiful town of Woodstock restaurants, groceries, shops and galleries is a 15 minute drive away. Best of all was Debbie the owner, who was so friendly, helpful and responsive. We have rented from good owners before, but Debbie is in a class by herself, definitely more than 5 stars! She checked in frequently, responded to questions so quickly and made great suggestions. We would definitely rent there again and bring friends or family. It was a 5 star experience.

Truly the best spot on Silver Lake!!!

  • 5 of 5

Wow, what a property!!! I have been coming to the Woodstock/Barnard area for years and finally wanted to be in a place where my dogs would be as welcome as I was. This place blew me away. Great view of Silver lake -- which the dogs could swim in, open floor plan, all the creature comforts and what a yard! I give this house and owner (Deb) the highest recommendation. This truly is the best location on Silver Lake!
