This unique location is situated in the Roanoke River Valley, a pristine, ecologically diverse river habitat offering the highest water quality of any waterway in the eastern coastal states of the USA. This river has a unique history of inhabitants ranging from ancient indian civilizations to the giant Striped Bass (known locally as Rockfish). The area is commonly referred to as the Rockfish Capital of the World due to the massive spawning migration of the Striped Bass, the largest migration on the eastern coast (from April through June). Additionally, the American and Hickory Shad migrate in from the Atlantic for their spawning during the month of March.
Summer activities include boating, kayaking and tubing along the beautiful river way that includes both slow-moving flows as well as class 1 and 2 rapids for extreme sports enthusiasts. If birdwatching is your hobby then experience bald eagles, egrets, kingfishers and herons in their natural habitats. The Sylvan Waterfowl Park, located 15 minutes away, offers an up-close experience with over 1500 endangered ducks geese and swans from around the world. Many avian biologists consider this to be the most intuitive and prolific waterfowl sanctuary in the world. A must see!
Autumn is the time for hunters with whitetail deer in abundance as well as doves, geese, ducks and other migratory waterfowl.
Enjoy a riverside campfire and s'mores year-round. The beautiful views are free! Guided tours of any of the above activities are available to enhance your enjoyment. Please ask for details.

Great place to stay. Clean and yard well groomed. We have been fishing at Weldon for the past 10 years and this is by far the best place we have found to stay at. Michael is a great guy and we will be back next year.
Michael is first class. The place is awesome. The trailer was clean. We had everything we needed, pots and pans, screened in porch and fire pit. Very close to boat launch. If your a readneck and like to fish you will love it! By the way, we had days when we caught 100 fish.
Access to the water was difficult from the rental unit. Wooden steps down to the dock area were very dangerous, some broken, many in bad shape. The dock was totally missing with just several telephone poles to tie up to, after being informed that the rental would have a dock for the 2012 season.
Rental unit dishwasher was full of dirty dishes and needed run. No dishwaher detergent available, limited toilet paper (1 1/2 rolls) for whole rental, no paper towels in kitchen.
Unit was comfortable for sleeping, relaxing and had a screened in rear deck. Easy access to shopping in Weldon and area around I-95.
All in all, it was nice to fish each day and tie up the boat below the rental. This rental could be made very nice with some work, but was O.K. for the money.
We will consider using it again next year and expect that access down the steps to the water will be improved and owner will have built a boat dock for river access.
