Lovely “old Florida” style home
This home has everything we were looking for, heated pool, quiet neighborhood, close to attractions, etc. we were very pleased with the surrounding neighborhood making our morning dog walks a very pleasant experience. The house itself is well kept, very clean & functional. Peggy, the owner is wonderful to work with. She is quick to answer text msgs & resolve issues. The only suggestion we have is, it would be nice to have a book with info we would need, ie wifi password, what day to put trash out, phone number for cleaning lady or pool people, attractions & restaurants & comments from past renters. We found the house well stocked with linens & kitchenware. We were dismayed to see the comments from the renters just before us. The school is down the street, we noticed no additional traffic or buses. The only sound was children outside playing. The linen issue is that not everyone is good with laundry, bleach especially, so a few items had bleach stains. The linens were quality, not brand new, after all we are not staying at the Ritz. We had no bug issues either. Ants outside, yes, but spraying by the doors kept them out. Furniture is functional, inside & out. Bed ( we only used the master) was comfortable. Peggy’s pictures show exactly what you are getting. Overall we enjoyed our time here.
❤️ I’m so glad you were happy here! The instruction book is a great idea, one I’ll implement immediately (I used to have a set of instructions in the desk and appreciate the reminder to replace it).
Nice location, house not kept up.
The location was very convenient, but it is across the street from a grade school so there is a lot of early morning traffic and school buses.
We were allowed to bring our pets which we appreciated. The owner was responsive to problems we had with the door locks and dishwasher. The home is older and needs some updating and cleaning. Linens and towels were well worn and need replacing. The laundry room was dirty and the drier was vented into a bucket of water. Pool decking was dirty and cracked. The screening around the pool was ripped and torn and bugs and lizards were freely entering. The outdoor chairs were wobbly and the cushions were moldy. There were a variety of bugs found inside the house (centipedes and ants) on a daily basis. The front door lock was battery operated and died on us, requiring a locksmith to replace batteries. The plugs in the main part of the house were not grounded, so laptop computers could not be plugged in to recharge unless a kitchen plug was used. The furniture in the living room was old and uncomfortable. The air quality in the home was very bad and we had respiratory problems until we went out and purchase three air ($200 each) purifiers. We would not recommend this home.
Oh, dear. Where to begin? I’ve never received a false review (there are grounded outlets in all but two rooms, and surge protectors in the living room and MBR, for instance, and there is a central heat/ac system which was serviced with new filters in November; the towels are nearly new; we’re way down the street from the school, and I’ve never seen a bus). I have four couples who come back year after year, and I think I’d have heard if there were traffic problems. There was no dishwasher problem.
And yet, I still feel lucky, when all is said and done, that for almost eight years I never before had a guest who treated my sweet house with such disrespect. The photos after you left were really disturbing. I’m only sorry I returned your deposit in full.
Very nice, cozy home in quiet location!
The bottom line: A very serious, trustworthy and helpful owner of a very nice home, cozy home in a quiet neighborhood!
This was our first time using HomeAway to book a vacation, and the experience could have not been better and easier. Thanks Peggy!
Peggy (the owner) has been great person to deal with (quick responses/personal follow up/great recommendations). Furthermore she is a very trustworthy and made it easy to deal with her. The house is nicer than what you can see in the pictures. Everything is renovated and everything works. It is as simple as that.
The screened pool/patio with a nice grill was a real plus. We really enjoyed it. In addition, the house had a very good central AC (good it is hot is Sarasota in late June/early July), great high speed Wi-Fi, good cable service and a very secure property in a quiet location.
If you are looking for a quiet and cozy home near the Ringling college of Art and incredible Ringling Museum, this is the one! It is also conveniently located within a mile+ from downtown and just 1.5mi+ from Lido Key.
Thanks Peggy. You made our first visit to Sarasota a great and memorable time. We will definitely come back!
Thank you so much for this wonderful review! You were great guests, and I'm glad the house was right for you.
Could not have asked for a better place to stay!
I am a bit late in my review! But a family member was asking for the link for where we stayed and I was reminded to put a word in. We could not have asked for a better experience for our family of 6.
The house itself is lovely. It is in a quiet neighborhood, close to the water, downtown, and Ringling. Everything inside was well-kept, clean, and well-supplied. The patio, pool, and grill are all enclosed and were perfect for our 4 kiddos and easy meals outside. There are toys for the water in the laundry room as well. The neighborhood is safe and the house has a security system as well.
Peggy, the owner, was a complete pleasure to work with from my very first inquiry email. She was flexible and honest and accommodating. We had a slight issue with the pool during our stay and she responded immediately and the issue was resolved. She thought of everything- from small details within the home, to sharing concern about keeping the doors locked to the pool for the kids safety. This is definitely a home away from home. Peggy truly helped make our vacation experience perfect. I could not recommend staying here more, and we look forward to coming again!
Home away from home
My family and I had a wonderful stay at this lovely home. I always rent a home when we go on vacation, all have been very nice , but this home was the nicest I have ever rented. We felt at home the moment we walked in the door. Peggy (the owner) has thought of everything to have assessable for our convenience. The private yard was perfect for my dogs to play in and the crystal clear pool and spa for us to relax in. We enjoyed our morning coffee out in the lanai and going for a early morning swim. The house was emaculately clean and very well kept. We were just minutes from stores , the beach and sightseeing. We will definitely come back next year. Heck, we didn't want to leave! Thank you Peggy for everything!!
We recently spent a fabulous werk in this home with our two Yorkies. The home is comfortable and welcoming with everything anyone could possibly need. The hot tub and pool are so very relaxing after an exciting day of sightseeing and the dogs romped in the secure yard for hours. The house on its own is great, but when you factor in the location it is phenomenal. You are only minutes from the amazing park by the bay ( you must try the Cuban sandwich at Marina Jack's there ), St. Armands circle and Lido beach. Just a short drive puts you in Siesta Key or on Anna Maria island. We are already planning our next stay! To top it all off, the owner is a dream to work with and always helpful.
Thank you so much for the lovely review. You were wonderful guests, and I only wish there were a spot on this website where owners could rave, too. Wish I could have seen your dogs enjoying the back yard!
Old Florida neighborhood, two blocks to a public-access bayside park. This is a walking neighborhood, quiet and lush, thirty blocks to the Ringling Museum and the Asolo Theater, and a four-minute drive to downtown Sarasota. Beautiful Lido Beach is a seven-minute drive; St. Armand's Circle about five. The Ringling College of Art and Design is within walking distance, and New College and USF are a few minutes by car. University Parkway, a major shopping corridor, is about 10 minutes by car.
