About Dawn LaRocque

I am a kitchen designer by trade and My husband owns a commercial construction business. We have totally remodeled the cabin since it was purchased it in 2008. We wanted a rustic hunting lodge look, and a place that made you just want to relax.

Dawn LaRocque purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Dawn LaRocque chose Smoky Mountains

Growing up in the rental business and owning my own rental business I have always dreamed of having a Bed & Breakfast and opening my home to folks to enjoy. This is as close as I could get to a bed and breakfast and still have my career. I love reading what our guests have posted in the guest book.

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin is between Maggie Valley and Waynesville. Not far from the ski lodge, and just around the corner to the Maggie Valley Country club. There is always something going on year round.

Perfect accomodations for our family!

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfectly suited for my husband, two sons, their wives and a dog. Every couple had own bedroom and bathroom. The kitchen was well equipped with dishes, wine glasses, pots and pans. We all had a great time and the location was perfect as one son lives in Chattanooga and the other in Charlotte. We will definitely look into renting this house again and if warmer weather bring our BMW motorcycle. Having garage to store the Beemer in at night is a huge plus. :)

Dawn - the owner - was very responsive to all my questions prior to arrival and during the stay. This was my first VRBO experience, but it was a very good one so will definitely consider again when making future travel plans.

Love the cabin!!!!!!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We just want to thank you Dawn for sharing! The communication was awesome, the cabin was clean and everything worked. We also loved the fact that you are pet friendly so the furry friends can enjoy it as well. The cabin is very easy to get to considering we were pulling enclosed bike trailers. Plenty of room to back up the trailer and unload the bikes. Best thing is there is an garage so pull the bikes in and out was a breeze. We spent 8 days and the weather was perfect. I would recommend to anyone looking to book this cabin to definitely do so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once again, Dawn thanks for the great communication before and after our stay and we will recommend you to anyone that is looking for a cabin in that part of the woods!! LOL

Great place!

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable home with lots of amenities. The kids had a great time running up and down the drive way to burn energy. The dishwasher and washing machine were a big plus in this mom's book. The only real draw back, for us bc our kids are on the younger side, was the master being downstairs. Overall, it was a great experience and we'd rent here again.

Beautiful !

  • 5 of 5

The pictures on google map captured the image of the cabin, but did not capture the beauty, the trees, the stars at night, the firefly, the quietness of the night, the feeling of solitude, we loved the cabin ! A big plus was the fact its in the town of Maggie Valley ! I would assume that for the location alone, the price would be costly, but what a bargain ! The cabin had everything you needed, and was not lacking in anything we could see. Everything I had read about this cabin was as advertised, it was clean and had plenty of towels, fresh sheets, even had laundry detergent on hand ! My wife liked that as she had some clothes to wash and did not want to go shopping the first day. The cabin was clean, floors swept and mopped, it was simply a pleasure to stay. What you really will like, it is accessible to Maggie Valley restaurants in minutes. We ate at Joey's Pancake House for breakfast, they where celebrating 50 years in business and once you eat there you will understand why. I liked the attached garage to park the Harley's, and to access the surrounding areas to ride was a breeze, minutes away from the Blue Ridge Parkway, Mt. Pisgash, the wives loved going to the Biltmore House. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone reading this review. In fact, we are thinking of returning in the fall, and we will rent this cabin again if it's available ! Next year we are planning another summer visit, and I hope the cabin will be available ! Thanks Ms. Dawn for some great memories !!

Best Family Vacation Yet!

  • 5 of 5

We spent 6 nights at this cabin in mid June with our entire family (7 people in total). We were happy that we still got to have a decent amount of privacy with the separate downstairs master suite, enclosed garage, hot tub, and deck areas and also found it very convenient to have three full bathrooms so there wasn't a huge line for the shower delaying our start each morning. . We were very pleased with the location of this cabin - a short drive to Asheville and Cherokee, with plenty of shops and places for meals in Maggie Valley as well. The nearby golf course definitely makes it feel like you're staying in a nice community.

As far as places to check out close by, our favorites were: Ingles (HUGE grocery store), Maggie Valley Puzzle Rooms (very new "escape room" business that is an excellent option for rainy days or evening activities), Maggie Valley Family Restaurant (loved the food!), Jelly Bellies Mountain Gift Shop (candies/gifts/icecream). There are a TON more options - but we had already planned several activities in Asheville/Bryson City so we didn't get to do as much as we could have in the immediate area.

Overall, this was by far the best family vacation we have taken in years. We did several activities together, but also had time to do a few things in smaller groups so everyone got to do what they wanted. This cabin was a great, peaceful place to meet back up and plan out the next adventure! The only things we noticed were that there were a few lights that needed to be replaced during our stay and the washing machine sounded a little worrisome, but neither of these issues bothered us enough to contact the owners. We did however contact the owners to change our reservation about a month before the trip - we had some responsibilities come up and needed to shorten the trip by a few days; Dawn was great and accommodating - we had our new days and payment amounts setup with 24 hours!
