About Kelly Romich

I fell in love with this cabin at the top of the mountain. Once my son started playing basketball and pursuing a college scholarship, there wasn't much time to relax in Blue Ridge and I started renting the cabin. Now others can enjoy it as much as I do!

Kelly Romich purchased this lodge in 2009

What makes this lodge unique

Raccoon Ridge is centrally, if not 'perfectly' located. The Toccoa River flows past the bottom of the Ridge. Sandy Bottom adventure center area (kayak, canoes and tubing) is a mile east on Aska Road. You can rent or put air in the tubes, load up the truck, drop folks off upsteam at the National Forest canoe launch and pick them up an hour and one-half later at Shallowford Bridge. For the really good fishing, drive east to the far end of the County to Cooper's Creek, also part of the National Forest. Two miles to the west are the Aska National Forest Hiking / Mountain Biking trails. There is a marked trail leading to this area through back country from Raccoon Ridge. Head east to the end of Aska road, turn right and you come to Noontoola Creek Farm which has one of the finest sport clay shooting facilites you'll find. Thirty minutes northeast you can enjoy whitewater rafting on the Ocoee river. Two hours north is Clingman's dome (the second highest peak in the Blue Ridge Mountains). There is a new local public golf course, Old Toccoa Farm, you can spend an afternoon in Blue Ridge or just 'chill' on the deck overlooking the valley.

WOW! What a marvelous weekend our family shared at Raccoon Ridge celebrating our parent's 50th wedding anniversary!

Spectacular views!

Unique decor!

Spacious, cozy cabin!

The special time we spent at Ridge Top Lodge was relaxing - the rocking chairs and the amazing scenery, the warmth of the firepit and good company, and sooo much more!

Kelly was very kind and it was an absolute pleasure to work with her!

It was a definite 5 for this family -ages 2 to 70😊 -Mike & Michelle (Cleveland, TN)

Less than luxurious-a disappointment for the cost

  • 2 of 5

There were so many issues that we had with this property. I tried to resolve them with the owner unsuccessfully. First of all, the cabin was not clean. The refrigerator was filthy as were some of the cabinets. There was trash in outdoor trash can left by the previous renters or the yard man. I never got a full explanation for that. TV remotes were missing from several TV's and the jetted tub was unusable due to a leak to the floor below. And by leak, I mean water pouring down the wall and through the ceiling onto a bed one floor below. I purposefully chose a top-end property to treat my family to a "luxury" vacation. I would not recommend this property to anyone at any price. My family and I made the most of it and we had a good time despite the shortcomings of this cabin. I was not aware when I booked it, but the property is for sale and the current owner has let the quality go.

Owner's Response: I received numerous issues with this group during their stay, many of which stemmed from them not reading the Welcome Letter. Upon arrival they tried to open the realtor key box on the front porch rather than the keybox which is located on the staircase to the upper stairs as specified in the letter. Additionally they could not find the wifi password, which not only is located on the router, but is also specified in the Welcome Letter. That said, I tried to work with the guests during their stay but I was out of the country and their stay was over the 4th of July holiday. We had a "fill in housekeeper" (my normal housekeeper was on vacation) for this back to back rental and the freezer was not cleaned out. I offered to compensate the renter for their time in "cleaning" the refrigerator. As to the TVs, my housekeeper told me that all the remotes were accounted when she went to clean, so I am not sure what the issue was. I did not know that the jetted tub had a leak and I was so thankful that the guests informed me. I asked them not to use the tub until I could have the plumbers come and assess the issue. The guests indicated that would be acceptable. There are also 3 other tubs in the cabin, although none are jetted tubs. The leak was fixed right after their stay. I take maintenance of the cabin very seriously. I am sorry the cabin was not up to the guest's "luxury" standards and hope that the pictures on the site will show the quality of the cabin.

The layout was perfect for our family which has 3 couples and 3 teenagers. Spacious and comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

The mountain top views and broad decks were a highlight for us. We grilled out and ate dinner on the porch one evening. The hot tub was popular, as was the pool table. All the cooks had everything needed for meal prep, and the separate floors provided options for rest, relaxation, and privacy. The satellite box in the main family room was not functioning at all, so we switched it with one from upstairs on the second day of our trip. It was nice to have a large entertainment area on 2 floors - especially with teens in the house. I would have enjoyed more seating (another sofa) in the main room so we could all watch a movie together comfortably. Loved having an island in the kitchen as well as a powder room. The sitting areas in the master and on the top floor were very nice. Overall, we really enjoyed our time at the lodge!

Beautiful, tasteful and well stocked!

  • 5 of 5

This home is a perfect place for a family or friend reunion! There were plenty of comfortable options, the interior furnishings were beautiful and very tasteful and it was stocked very well. We will certainly be coming back here again in the future and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious place to stay in the mountains. Additionally, the views from the porches were stunning! Thank you for opening up your home to be rented!

Beautiful home, way above the clouds. The view from the porch is amazing. The first morning looked like we were surrounded by beautiful lakes because we were so high, making the clouds look like water. Plenty of sleeping areas, many bathrooms. Perfect for a large family gathering. Thank you Kelly for sharing your property with my family. Yes, we would come again and we would definitely tell our friends about this beautiful home.
