Dana’s Grotto is located steps away from one of the most romantic beaches in the world! Just a five minute walk and you will find your toes in the surf and sand of the Pacific Ocean with Dana Point providing a stunning back drop. A leisurely walk on the beach you will see the Ritz-Carlton perched on the cliff and the local surfers riding the endless waves at Salt Creek Beach. The beach is perfect for kids and families with life guards on duty all summer long and lots of new friends to be made while building sand castles. After your morning walk on the beach to Starbucks, play 36 holes at Monarch Beach Links with the Pacific Ocean out of bounds right!

Dana Point Harbor is absolutely a great place to enjoy a day. Fabulous restaurants and shopping are perfectly placed amongst hundreds of sail boats and yachts that make the Harbor a truly unique destination. You will be able to see fisherman returning from the sea with the catch or the day or enjoy ordering the catch of the day at one of the many seafood restaurants. The Harbor is also the place where the Tall Ship festival, Whale Watching, The Festival of Whales, Doheney Days Jazz Festival, and excursions to Catalina Island originate.

Laguna Beach is just a five mile drive down the historic Pacific Coast Highway. You will find breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and unique houses built into the steep hillsides. This is the place where the day and night life never end. The sun seems to invite Laguna locals and visitors for leisurely walks through Laguna Village. Unique restaurants and boutiques are behind every corner, not to mention the plethora of art galleries for which Laguna is famous. After your walk through Laguna Village, don’t forget to check out Main Beach where basketballers, Vollyeballers, sunbathers, chess players, dogs, musicians, locals, tourists, and some very interesting people all collide, a perfect place to rest!

Dana’s Grotto is just right for a vacation get-away. Located equidistance between Los Angeles and San Diego, both just an hour away, you can relax in the solitude of Dana Point and venture into two of California’s funnest cities very easily. An hour or less drive you could find yourself having adventures in Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, Sea World, San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park, Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills, Lego Land, Wine Country of Temecula, horse races in Del Mar, and Newport Beach all top a long list of activities. We invite you to vacation at Dana’s Landing and find out why Dana Point is the best kept secret in southern California!

Wonderful Location, Great Condo, Hospitable Owners

  • 5 of 5

We spent Thanksgiving week at this condo, and had an amazing time. With 4 growing sons we always need extra space and this condo was perfect for us. Everything was clean, even the complex itself is very well kept. Several recent updates are obvious, the pool and hot tub were a bonus - neighbors very friendly. This location is outstanding. I'm so glad we found Dana Point and the Strand Beach park. It was very quiet and you feel very safe and secure - walking to the beach couldn't be easier and location situated conveniently between LA and San Diego made exploring simple and yet the cost was more affordable than pricier towns nearby. We would like to do this exact trip again next year. The owners graciously answered my questions about the area and gave suggestions for hiking and restaurants and transportation. We had maybe the best vacation in years because this was such a relaxing home base. Thanks Aaron!

One Word - BLISS

  • 5 of 5

We were so impressed with this place. It was loaded with great items from a very spacious floor plan, big bathrooms, wet-suits for everyone, boogie boards, beach toys and chairs and umbrellas, towels, washer/dryer...and the list goes on and on. We visited the Grotto from 07/19 to 7/26. The view of the ocean was awesome. The steps down a hill to the beach were easy to navigate and it being a "skinny" beach, we had plenty of room to rest and relax without too many people around. It almost felt like a private beach. The water is so very clean and clear and we had choices of snorkeling, tide pool venturing, boarding and swimming with plenty of lifeguards to watch the kiddos.

One day, there was a junior life guard camp going on and our two children really enjoyed the entertainment of watching young people running and swimming everywhere. What we loved most about this condo was the location. It is close to freeways, tons of shopping and yet, still very quaint and quiet and very relaxing.

We highly recommend this to anyone interested. If you are on the fence between this one and another facility, just select Dana's Grotto, you'll be glad you did.

What a great place. We were close to California's best beaches. The owner is very accommodating. We enjoyed all that the condo had to offer. The view of the ocean is a great place to have your morning coffee. All of the beach gear that the owner provides you makes the beach a comfortable place to be. It was nice to have two bathrooms and a washer and dryer too. We will be coming back soon!

We had a great time in Dana Point!

  • 5 of 5

We loved Dana Point, it was beautiful! We have 3 children, 2 older children and a toddler. A crib was provided and a childseat to put on a regular chair - that made it easy to dine and sleep.

Overall I must say that the apartment was very well-equipt. Our older children also enjoyed borrowing the wetsuits and bodyboards! Walking distance to the beach and since we like taking walks we walked to the harbor and to Ritz Carlton beach among other places. The poolarea was very nice as well.

The apartment is very nice located if you want to visit Disney, Los Angeles, San Diego etc. ..or just stay in Dana Pint of course!

Aaron and Gina were very helpful and answered all our questions before we came! We hope that we will be able to visit again!

Thank you!

Awesome place for a weekend, nay, a week!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I fell in love with this quaint, suburban-like beach town. I had been planning on getting away for a little "baby-moon" with my expectant wife. Fortunately for us, our visit coincided with the "Festival of the Whales" which featured a long list of options to entertain us. We started our Saturday by hitting up breakfast at RJ's Cafe right in the "Harbor." Then we took a nice walk up to the PCH for a small-town "Whale Parade" on Saturday followed by the Farmer's Market just across the street. We picked up some veggies and fruit (nothing like getting fresh food and supporting local farmers for a good price!) for our salad later that weekend.

After our outing, we swung by Ralph's to grab some more food items for our weekend and went back to our own personal "Grotto" for a relaxing afternoon. While my wife napped on the wonderfully comfy couch, I got some sweet-potato fries going in the oven and made some turkey-burger patties from scratch (thank goodness there were spices and the basics [flour, olive oil, baking powder, etc] in the cabinet!). Then, after firing up the Grotto's grill on the balcony (which, of course, overlooks the ocean) I made our late-afternoon lunch. My wife and I then had a nice lazy afternoon watching movies (there's a redbox at Ralph's and some brought) on the tv (which takes both DVD and VHS). I had a grilled cheese sandwich for dinner, and a suggestion for you future vacationers: the induction stove-top heats up much faster than our stove at home. ;)

That night, I slept beautifully (my wife is pregnant, so I think she would've slept better had the baby not been nudging her awake!). The next day, we went for a morning stroll at the beach in front of the condo -- such a nice beach and right at our "foot"-tips! After returning to the Grotto for breakfast, we drove back to the "Harbor" at Dana Point and checked out some art on display before heading out for our Whale Watching tour! We had a nice pleasant ride on quiet seas and saw a massive pod of dolphins that swam right along our boat. Since we didn't see any whales, while disembarking the vessel, the operator gave us a 50% off coupon for friends AND our tickets back since we didn't see any whales -- we can go back again for free, and they don't expire!! (hint hint, you out-of-towners!)

All in all, it was a wonderful weekend spent at the lovely Dana's Grotto. My only suggestion to you future vacationers is to try and spend more than a weekend -- there's so much to do!
