I am an artist and a landscape architect. I came to Naples only planning to stay a year and that was 15 years ago. My house is so close to the beach that I go there everyday with my chair coffee and journal to start the day and as often as possible end it with a spectacular sunset. The colors of this place and the nearby dolphins have gotten under my skin and if you rent my house you'll see my love of this place reflected in my paintings that hang in every room.
Owner purchased this House in 1997
Why Owner chose Vanderbilt Beach
Why rent my house? Dog friendly; Proximity to beach and every other convenience. Peaceful private patios front and back outside and quiet comfort inside. Gorgeous State Park over the bridge. Lots of water access all around the area.
What makes this House unique
If you like biking there are trails all around that begin right from my house. Bike Rentals nearby

Great location !!
We enjoyed our stay. New clean Hot Tub on back deck!! Great location and Mary returned calls immediately with any questions we had.
You were great guests. Hope to see you returning.
Loved the Screened in porch - close to the beach and shopping!
This is an awesome cottage! Very clean and Mary Ellen is extremely easy to work with! It is close to tons of shopping and the beach. The kitchen was really nice too.
Comfortable pet friendly home close to the beach
My husband and I enjoyed our month long stay at this home in February of 2016 and plan to return this winter. It is very comfortable and we appreciated being able to take our cocker spaniel. A big plus for us is the location close to Delnor Wiggins state park. We bought a pass and went twice a day. It's a very short drive and more importantly an easy walk to the park. Some days the parking lots are full and you're out of luck if you can't walk there. Naples Park is also a good location for eating, shopping, and the arts center.
Close to the Beach
We stayed in this home for one month in January 2016. The home located in North Naples is in a great location. Near Delnor-Wiggins State Park, a great place to walk your dog and close to the beach. You can walk the 3/4 mile to the beach if you don't mind carrying your chair and bag. There are plenty of restaurants within a 5 to 10 minute drive and lots of shopping.
Mary Ellen was easily accessible when we had an issue with an electrical outage due to a storm. The beds are comfortable. The home is just as it looks in the photos but maybe not as bright as we would have liked because it is surrounded by trees. We needed lights during the day in the family room in order to read.
There is a lovely garden in the backyard.
Some issues to be aware of are that the house is Mary Ellen's home during the off season and she stores some personal items there in a part one of the closets, the top shelf of the kitchen cupboards and in the garage.
She no longer offers bicycles but suggests you rent them. The available beach chairs were old and rusty. She says she has replaced these so this is probably not an issue any longer.
All in all, we had a wonderful time in the North Naples location.
You can also drive ¾ mile to the state park and park right at the beach. Day passes are $6. Annual passes are $63 Individual plus $2/person /day or $127 Family. Trees have been cut back to let in more afternoon light on the east side family room.
Personal items have been removed from the inside of the house where mentioned. There are two bicycles which you are welcome to and other renters have used but do need to inflate and repair tires as needed. Bike rentals also available from many sources close by.
Fantastic place-- close to the beach
House is very nice and has a nice updated kitchen. The house is very nicely decorated with Mary Ellen's artwork. On this trip, we only had two adults and one 11 year old. We had tons of space. This house can easily accommodate 6-8 (using the couches to sleep). Bedrooms were comfortable and there were plenty of hangers and dresser space for clothes.
Kitchen is very well stocked. We cooked in the kitchen every day-- except our day of arrival. It's always harder to cook in someone else's kitchen-- when you are used to your own. My advice is to bring a few of your "must haves" if you are able to-- particularly when driving. When we drive, I usually bring a few things that I'll want to have in the kitchen. This time, I brought (1) Espresso Coffee Machine, (2) Foreman Grill, and (3) a pot for making popcorn on the stove (so I didn't risk burning one of the house pots).
We found the house to be a great balance of budget and location. It is cheaper than some places you'll find that are right on the beach. For the better price, you get being close to the beach-- instead of on the beach. The beach is 3/4 miles to the actual water. It's about a 10 minute walk to the public beach entrance (right next to entrance to Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park). It is a 2 minute drive to the beach. I recommend driving if you have gear. There is really no free parking at the public beach entrance. There is plenty of parking at the Delnor-Wiggins park for $6/day). The beaches were very nice / convenient. On one day, we ventured to Vanderbilt beach-- which is about a 10 minute drive to parking garage ($8 / day) followed by a 5 minute walk. Vanderbilt has a wider beach than Delnor-Wiggins pass and is more crowded. Both beaches are clean, well-maintained, with good facilities. I recommend researching both parks on the internet for additional details.
Mary Ellen is extremely accommodating and easy to work with. You can't rent from a better owner. She obviously cares that her renters have a great experience. There are some basic, common-sense house rules that are easy to follow. The main rules were to keep sand out of the house and be careful with oil on the granite countertops. (Both of these you would do at your own house). We found the rules easy to follow. For sand, we always entered through the garage to drop off gear Then, we showed in the outdoor shower at the side of the house to rinse off any remaining sand.
Naples Beach Cottage a pleasant spot
My husband and 2 small dogs enjoyed a 3months stay at Naples Cottage from January through March of 2014. The kitchen is well stocked with all the necessary implements. The cottage is close to the beach and plenty of places to visit and shop are close by. We enjoyed our stay so much, that we purchased a home in the park. The owner was very accommodating and was in contact during our stay to ensure our visit was pleasurable and stress free. We would recommend this home for families and the home had plenty of sleeping options available. Thank you for allowing us to share your home. We felt at home throughout our stay. Enjoy.
Just over the bridge the state park has boat ramps, kayak canoe rentals, nature trails and 2 miles of beachfront. Also a coral reef just 60 feet off-shore
