THE ULTIMATE ROMANTIC GETAWAY BY THE CREEK, A Luxury One Bedroom Cabin--- This truly unique dream house project is designed by a California architect husband and an architectural designer / construction manager wife. You will love the complete privacy and the surrounding rocky stream you see from every room. Enjoy a quiet morning coffee or sipping a glass of wine in a lazy afternoon sitting on the covered porch overlooking the creek. The outdoor hot tub is great for soothing massage while listening to the creek and sounds of the forest. Creekside Cabin is a perfect sanctuary to celebrate your special day or just de-stress your busy life. An ideal place for your special celebrations, honeymoon, anniversary or just a romantic getaway.

Creekside Cabin is built within a private equestrian development known as Leatherwood Mountains, located close to Blue Ridge Parkway, Boone, Blowing Rock and Wilkesboro.

Unique Mountain Cabins: We have two one bedroom cabins in the same area.

Please visit www.UniqueMountainCabins.com for additional information.

Our cabins are individually designed by an architect to capture all the natural beauty of the surroundings. You can relax and enjoy the quietness of the mountains while visiting our cabin.

Owners' Comments: We stumbled upon our Leatherwood Mountains home site one day on our way back home to California after a long RV trip. It was a love at first sight. We made an offer on the property the next day. We moved to North Carolina in the summer of 2003 and started planning our projects. Burdette is a retired Architect and I am a retired construction manager and architectural designer. It has been a rewarding experience to build unique mountain cabins. We have completed our permanent home in the mid 2012 and living here in Leatherwood Mountains all year around. We love to wake up in our mountains and see the tall trees, rocky creek, deer and turkeys just outside the windows. We found the gardening a challenge in the mountains but we like working at it.

Other Activities: Good fishing at Elk Creek (License Required), Community Tennis Court & Swimming Pool(summer), Wilkesboro YMCA -Good GYM- on NC268, about 20 miles from Leatherwood. My favorite things to do is take a scenic drive through Blue Ridge Parkway stop at several beautiful spots for picnic and leisurely stroll along easy trails or hike to waterfalls. Grandfather Mountain is a well known spot along the Parkway. You can go to Blowing Rock, a small resort town with nice shops and restaurants about 25 miles away. You can do white water rafting, canoeing or zip line adventure though the outfitters in Boone. Horse back trail rides through Leatherwood Mountains stable or other stables in Boone area. There are several wineries to explore in the nearby areas. Many of our guests just want to stay around the cabin and relax in the private mountain setting.

About Myung Pulver

We stumbled upon our Leatherwood Mountains home site one day on our way back home to California after a long RV trip.

Why Myung Pulver chose Ferguson

It feels like you are in a National Forest with natural surroundings and no other houses in sight. But the property is within a private gated community which offers a sense of security and shared amenities such as swimming pool and tennis courts.

What makes this cabin unique

There is an independently owned resort business just outside of our subdivision. The Leatherwood Mountains Resort operates vacation home rentals for absentee owners, horseback riding, stables and a seasonal restaurant.

TOTAL SECLUSION BUILT FOR TWO - A ONE OF KIND EXPERIENCE

  • 5 of 5

Experience the North Carolina Mountains in a totally different way. My wife and I (early 60's) have celebrated our anniversary with a week in the North Carolina mountains for most of our 21 year marriage and this property is the most unique we have experienced. It's a one of a kind respite for a couple to escape from normal life, recharge and reconnect. The structure sits on the slope of a mountain with a rushing stream only feet from the bedroom door and windows. You are transported by the constant rushing of water cascading the stone creek bed. The first 3 days of our visit were impacted by the remnants of a hurricane passing thru with substantial rain, but we didn't care. The sound of the stream along with the rain hitting the metal roof provided a rare kind of enjoyment and rest. The house provides a very tranquil experience due to its design and finish. For instance, the floors are all stone so you don't hear any creaks or footsteps as you walk thru the house - not even your own. The master suite sits at a lower elevation than the living area, closer to the stream. The spa-like bathroom is huge and a real work of art. There are two walls of windows which provide a feeling of being elevated in the trees, providing a truly unique experience, with total privacy, as you enjoy the rainfall shower, day or night. It was particularly relaxing to spend time every evening in the outdoor hot tub followed by a refreshing rainfall shower. There is also an outdoor fire pit. There is a definite remote feel to the location, even though it is located in a gated community with a paved road right to the door. After dark, there is nothing to indicate the presence of other structures. Leatherwood Mountain Resort is not a highly populated property. We have now spent four vacations there, including our wedding trip in 1996, renting a different home each time. Being as it is quite a drive to get to populated areas, we brought food with us and enjoyed cooking all our meals except for two lunches while we were visiting Blowing Rock, which is about an hours drive and a really great little village for a day trip. In addition to the fully equipped kitchen, there is a very nice gas grill on the back porch. It is about an hour to the Blue Ridge Parkway whether you stick to the main routes or take the adventure of an available, well-maintained mountain backroad which is a truly enjoyable drive even though a portion is not paved (best for daylight only).

perfect secluded cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We Loved creekside cabin!! It's very secluded and quiet, truly a place you can unplug. The outside setting is wonderful, but the cabin itself was my favorite. I loved the windowed bathroom and bedroom! This cabin also has a private trail through the woods that's pretty cool. I would visit this place again in a heartbeat!
