The Best Place to Stay when in Avingion!

  • 5 of 5

First of all, let me tell you about Francis. I saw that he was the rock star of VRbO. He had a taxi arranged to meet us right at our train coach to take us to the apt. He met us with a smile and a cheerful attitude. So welcomed after a long line issue at Charles de Gaulle airport.

Avingion is an amazing city, and easy to navigate once you get acclimated. Francis tells you where to go, has directions and information for you, and will even call the taxi for you when it is time to leave. He makes certain you know how to reach him if you need him night or day.

The Apartment is not large but so perfect for two people. It is well organized and spotlessly clean. The location cannot be beat. It is right next to the Pope’s Palace and gardens, as well as the supermarket. We will always make arrangements to stay at this apartment every time we come to Avingion. Thank you Francis for being such a wonderful host!

Exellent, comfortable, well appointed property.

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I had a wonderful 6 day stay here. It was well appointed with towels, hair drier, shampoo and shower gel, microwave etc. Francis was very welcoming and kindly met us at the TGV station (despite our train being 2 hours delayed!). There was a welcome bottle of water in the fridge on our arrival. He gave us some very useful advice on what to see and do in Avignon and surrounding area. There is no air conditioning, but there are 2 fans in the lounge and one in the bedroom and the large windows open very wide. The property is in a really good location, only a few minutes walk to the Palais Des Papes and Le Place de l'Horlorge. It is generally very quiet, but the bin men come every morning at about 5am. However, we soon fell back to sleep after they went!

We would thoroughly recommend this property.

We stayed in this apt for one week. Francis met us there on our arrival day which made us feel welcome! This appartement has everything you need while visiting the area, but most importantly Francis has many suggestions for tours, shopping and excelllent restaurants.

Also, the beds are quite comfortable.!

Convenient, clean, and great location

  • 5 of 5

This apartment, only steps from the Pope's Palace and the Cloister of Saint Pierre, is in the perfect location in Avignon. Only a few minutes walk to Les Halle for a wonderful market experience and beautiful produce, authentic Provençal products and prepared foods. It is easy to eat in the apartment or walk to any of the restaurants nearby. Francis has provided a very helpful booklet of information including favorite restaurants, local sights, and nearby Luberon villages with their market days. The apartment is very clean, has everything a person needs for the kitchen, the bath and the bedroom. The beds are very comfortable, including the sofa bed. The CD player with Madeleine Peyroux and some jazz greats was a very nice touch. There are three flights of stairs, but my sister and I (ages 56 and 66), did not find them to be a problem.

The best part is Francis, himself. He met us at the apartment just three minutes after we called him. He showed us all the ropes and answered all of our questions in a very patient manner. We had a problem with a window (the problem was us, not the window) and he was there to help within three minutes! He booked our train tickets for our trip from Italy to Avignon and emailed them to us. When we left Avignon, Francis drove us to the TGV and helped us rent a car. He is a true gentleman, warm, and personable. Francis and his apartment will make your stay in Avignon as perfect as it can be. I can not recommend him and the apartment highly enough!

Please trust me when I tell you that you need look no further for a place to stay in Avignon. I will tell you why but first I must tell you about the owner, Francis. Upon arrival in Avignon we realized that we had lost our Passports. We told Francis our problem and he was so helpful. He printed the forms we needed at home and brought them along with train tickets he picked up at the station to travel to Marseilles the next morning to get temporary Passports. His calm and reassuring manner went a long way toward helping us through this problem. The apartment is on the 3rd (American counting) floor of an old building. We are in our 60's and the first few times we climbed it was hard, as the week went on it became easier and easier. The apartment itself was very clean, modern and comfortable. Having the two twin beds pushed together was a huge plus for us. We are not comfortable on a Queen and that's what you find the most often in Europe. We were always happy to return here after a long day of sightseeing. It has everything you could need to enjoy your stay. If you want to cook in, (visit Les Halles first, a short walk) everything you might need is there. The grocery is on the other side of the Les Halles plaza. Francis gives you a wonderful guide for touring and restaurant recommendations. The boulangerie (bakery) is a right turn out the front door, a left turn and about 2 blocks ahead on your left. In this little square are 3 other restaurants. The train station is an easy 20-25 minute walk. Everything you want to visit in Avignon is an easy walk from this wonderful, exceptionally clean apartment. If we are ever fortunate enough to return to Avignon I would happily stay in Francis' apartment.
