About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps up to 9)

Come relax in our newly renovated and furnished 100-year-old house two short blocks from the Chesapeake Bay beach in charming Cape Charles, Virginia, a turn-of-the-(last)-century railroad town on Virginia's Eastern Shore. From the wraparound front porch with ceiling fans and rocking chairs, enter the sunny foyer, which leads into the dining/reading room with book-filled shelves. Step through to the light-filled kitchen, fully equipped for summertime chefs, with corian counters, stainless steel farm sink, french-door refrigerator, jenn-air stove top, lots of shelves and cabinets, and a pass-through window to the t.v. room. Attached is the mud room with washer and dryer. The t.v. room connects to the family room, with sofa-bed and chairs, and a full bath. Double french doors lead to the full back deck and fenced backyard, ready for barbecues.

Up the beautifully-crafted staircase are three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a premium queen bed, and en suite bathroom with double sinks and glass shower. Bedroom 2 also has a premium queen bed. Bedroom 3 has a single over double bunk bed, and a twin trundle bed (room sleeps 5). The hall shower is tiled in aqua accents, and has a vanity and glass shower. Windows abound in all rooms. Two-zone central HVAC, plumbing and electrical are all fully modernized.

About Julia Stone

We have been coming to Cape Charles since 2002, and can't seem to resist the charm of the old houses set in this great old town. Happily, there are also plenty of fun, outdoorsy things to do here, too. We ride our bikes around all the time, kayak at the beach, and have lots of family gatherings here.

Why Julia Stone chose Eastern Shore

We LOVE Cape Charles. It is such a retreat for us to be among one of the most scenic and historic areas in Virginia. The old town charm is so satisfying, and the modern amenities of good restaurants, golf courses, beach access, boating, birding, kayaking, fishing, and antiquing are a great addition. People are nice here, and the pace is measured. Fun activities such as the Fourth of July parade, the Tomato Festival, Virginia garden week, and Christmas progressive dinner are very welcoming.

Gorgeous home!

  • 5 of 5

Not knowing anything about Cape Charles, we chose this property for our family getaway. From beginning to end, we enjoyed our stay. While the owners have renovated the home, it maintains its charm and character. The location is super convenient and the neighborhood is something out of the past. The home is comfortable and the owners have paid attention to every detail. We've rented many vacation homes and there was always a hotel-like quality to them. This home felt like one was staying with family. They provided the linens and towels, which makes it easy when you travel. A couple of us are a bit on the OCD side about cleanliness. This home was spotless and awesome. I had one question and I literally hit "send" on my phone to ask a question of the owner and almost instantly my cell phone was ringing. She was so kind and accommodating. When we return to Cape Charles, I will definitely try to rent this home again. We had an excellent experience.

Beautiful place!

  • 5 of 5

We went for a short visit with one other family and wished we could have stayed longer. This is a beautiful comfortable house - wonderful linens, furnishings and decor. Plus tons of extras - things to take to the beach, games if you stayed in, lots of kitchen items. The kids loved the bunk bed room. We definitely recommend this house!

Excellent Stay - (the pictures don't do the property justice)

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have previously stayed at a local bed and breakfast on our annual visit to Cape Charles, however, we wanted to try something different this year. This house was exactly what we were looking for. The house is immaculately clean and spacious, the renovations were perfectly done and the location could not be better. While the house has all of the amenities of a new house, the charm and character of its age is well-preserved.

Early morning coffee or an afternoon glass of wine on the front porch is a must! I have used VRBO many times and I found Julie, the owner, extremely easy to deal with. I have already recommended this house to a friend and have no doubts that we'll be back to 207 Tazewell on our next visit!

Perfect Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have asked for a more perfect home-away-from-home while visiting Cape Charles! This house and location were exactly what we were looking for. The house is clean, open and roomy, with a nice porch to relax on, a fenced back yard for the little one to play in, plenty of sleeping areas, a great kitchen and dining room, laundry room, plenty of bathrooms, a garage stocked with beach supplies and even a deck with a grill, table, and lounging area! The walk to the beach and pier was short, and we were perfectly located to walk to the playground, main street, library, or post office within minutes:) A week barely seemed long enough to fit in fishing, crabbing, shopping, going to the beach, visiting the nearby Kiptopeake Park and Beach, etc. The locals are very friendly and helpful, especially "Leonard" who gave us fishing tips and was kind enough to bring us a load of blue crabs one day! We highly recommend visiting StingRay's on Lankford Hwy and Aqua at the Marina for great meals out. Looking forward to coming back again soon! Thanks so much for offering this wonderful property!

We had a wonderful time staying in this lovely home! Clean and comfortable, great decor (nice details, such as good quality kitchen items -- I love sharp knives and decent cookware--books, games, and the nice gas grill outside was a plus.) Convenient to the bay/beach, we'd stay here again, no question.
