I can't even say enough how absolutely wonderful our stay at the Grand Maine seaside cottage was....we were there for a family wedding and the bride and bridal party all got ready there! It was truly amazing! House is gorgeous and plenty of room for everyone! The family and friends were all able to come and go and we were able to have a family luncheon and pre wedding photos etc, and just so relaxing! Everyone wants to go back next year to celebrate....Absolutely perfect !! Can't wait to go back!!!
Great space for a large family to mingle or have some solitary time. Rooms were graciously appointed and there was no shortage of towels. Kitchen was a dream for our cooking and food loving family! The butler's pantry was the perfect coffee and beverage bar. The only thing missing was a garlic press! The ocean view and morning peacefulness was enjoyed from the porch rockers. The staff was very responsive to all requests and very friendly. Having access to the spa at the Inn was a plus.
The property is not handicapped accessible, which made it a challenge for the elderly. There are many stairs, many tripping hazards on each level, low toilets, and no grab bars in the showers. The wifi was sporadic, which made it difficult for those needing to do some work or school work. Cell signal for phone calls was also spotty. Surround sound on the TV was not functioning and the dishwasher in the butler's pantry was problematic. The dining room lighting was dim, which made it a challenge for our jigsaw puzzle efforts.
It would have been great to have had a fire pit on the property for our cool evenings.
All in all, we would love to visit again.
Elegant, Roomy, Comfortable and Cozy All at Once!
My family can't stop talking about our gathering at the 'cottage' for my daughter's college graduation weekend. The place is gorgeous inside and out, with plenty of room for my extended family, and it's so very well taken care of by the staff of the Stage Neck Inn. We simply could not have asked for a better experience.
The beds were comfortable, the ocean views were exquisite, and everything was spotlessly clean....gosh, it even had a butler's pantry, a playroom and a big laundry room!
The hotel staff (who handle everything from reservations through groundskeeping and cleaning) were so very helpful and caring, all while being consummate professionals.
I have only two constructive criticisms....but they could just be personal taste.... 1) I'd organize the kitchen a little better - the placement of dishes, silverware, glasses and pots/pans in the cupboards wasn't very intuitive (to me), and 2) I'd put a rug or something in the dining porch to absorb some of the sound/reverb (it was a bit echo-y).
My only other critique was that my budget wasn't big enough to be able to let everyone stay longer! Seriously, every time I talk with one of my siblings or my parents, that one gathering comes up as being among the best our family has ever had. And it was exactly the kind of celebration my daughter had dreamed of having. Thanks to all!!
A very happy New Years weekend!
We stayed at this property for 3 nights over New Years weekend with 16 guests. The house was able to comfortably fit everyone. There is a nice kitchen, along with two large living rooms and two large dining rooms. The living room attached to the kitchen has a TV and surround sound, which was nice for watching the football game and listening to music. We cooked every night, and the kitchen had all of the supplies we needed. There is also multiple refrigerators which was very nice to have. We had an amazing stay. Jane was was very helpful and responsive. I would highly recommend this property.
Thank you, Michael. Happy New Year!
The Maine Seaside Cottage is the perfect venue for a large group of family and/or friends. The description of the property was spot on. We thought the house was lovelier than the photos on the VRBO website.
The house was spotless. The kitchen was supplied with everything we needed for meal preparation. The prep kitchen helpful. There are various types of dinnerware--plastic for informal breakfasts and fancier ware for dinners. There are 2 dishwashers, 2 full size refrigerators, crisper drawers and small refrigerator in prep kitchen good for keeping the white wine cool. Finally, a separate freezer on the lower level. There is a view of York Harbor from the main kitchen sink--so lovely.
We ate our dinners in the fully glassed in dining area. There is also a more formal dining room.
The bedrooms are beautifully furnished--the master bedroom large enough to be an apartment in an of itself. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms to provide privacy for our group.
Working with Jane Smith was a pleasure. She responded quickly to all my questions. It was nice to meet her after all of our electronic communication. She is delightful and so helpful.
The highlight of our trip was a Windjammer schooner cruise on Casco Bay AND eating lobsters which were purchased at Fisherman's Cove. Fisherman's Cove cooked the lobsters perfectly. We also bought little neck and steamer clams. Excellent, fresh seafood.
We visited the Nubble light, Bush compound which can be seen from the road, Ogunquit, and Kennebunkport. We enjoyed driving the small country roads. A few of us enjoyed a visit to Agamenticus mountain where there are lovely 360 degree views which extend all the way to Whiteface Mountain in NY. Fort McClary in Kittery is interesting and provides a beautiful view of the harbor.
We enjoyed spectacular weather.
I would happily recommend this property to friends and relatives. Loved it!!!!
house was great. large and as pictures. everything was clean and plenty of towels. on perfect property with outdoor/indoor pool and on nice beach. we were three families with children and plenty of room!
