About Fred Scheer
We built this cabin as a family retreat in 1990. Privacy was our number one priority...we wanted a place to go and relax...a place for high quality family time. We live in Hayward and this cabin continues to be one of our favorite places to get away to!
Fred Scheer purchased this Cabin in 1990

The Perfect Lake Cabin
Thank you, Fred and Sue, for sharing your property with our family. We loved the quiet solitude that the cabin provided. The access to Chippewa Flowage was amazing and we spend most of our days exploring the different lakes and islands easily accessible from the cabin. We saw many bald eagles over the lakes. The screened porch was our favorite place in the house and we spend our evenings playing board games and listening to the nature sounds - even hearing the loons on the lake. We really appreciated the chopped firewood for our evening lakeside fires and the well stocked kitchen with all the necessities. Again, thank you for sharing your cabin with us and we hope to return soon!
The property was excellent, great family getaway in the beautiful North woods of Wisconsin
The only reasons I can’t give this cabin a 5* rating is because the cabin only offers one large sleeping area and the pillows were not very comfortable. The upper floor has one large room with all the beds together. The stairs up to the sleep area are steep. Other than that it’s great. I’m would echo the positive sentiments shared by other guests.
Private cabin, peaceful
The cabin was very clean and well maintained. Furniture comfortable, kitchen nicely stocked with housewares, etc. Great shower water pressure, which we weren't expecting. Never saw another soul around the entire 5 days we were there. Weather was unseasonably cold, rainy (even snow on May 19th). May be tricky to get to the loft for sleeping if you're not as mobile, but all in all a great stay, great cabin, and would definitely recommend and/or come back if we get this way again!
The winter-to-spring transition was happening. Exceptional sunlight across river ice and that bracing smell of melting snow. River otters were playing. And eagles were prospecting nest sites. Didn't see another person while we were there.
I always appreciate Guests who enjoy the special quiet-nature-solitude that our cabin get away offers. Smelling spring arrive is something only a lover of the outdoors would comment on....but yet it evokes a strong image for those of us anticipating the arrival of spring. Glad you enjoyed your visit!
Just what I needed. Peaceful, tranquil; a place for thinking, reading and walking through the woods.
This cabin is rustic but kept very neat and clean.
