About The Owner

I am a residential Home Designer. I purchased this building in 2006 to be my personal residence. I do architectural work around South West Michigan. I create New and remodeled home designs

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2006

Why The Owner chose South Haven

This is my personal residence. I purchased this home for its unique personality and its convenient location to all. I can walk to the theater on a rainy day or when it is sunny, walk the beach. I can hear the waves at night while I lay in bed. It makes me feel like I am on vacation every day when I am home from work. Its close to all but quiet and a personal retreat.

What makes this apartment unique

As a designer I couldnt resist the personality and charm of this place. Its location in this town is the best. So close to everything yet I can enjoy my private and personal experience with the lake.

Absolute perfection!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay in South Haven at this beautiful home. Everything was ready for us when we arrived. There were more than enough dishes, towels, washer and dryer, And Linens. We were able to relax the moment we stepped foot in the home. It was a two story home with two bedrooms and one-and-a-half bathrooms. The bedrooms were perfect for our small family. There was the master bedroom and another bedroom. In the second bedroom there was a queen size bed and a trundle bed. Our granddaughter loved the trundle bed! The upstairs bathroom included a tub, shower and laundry services. The downstairs bathroom was a half bathroom. We were provided with all the essentials needed to stay for the entire week. We were given trash bags, paper towels, napkins, toilet paper, laundry detergent, dishwashing detergent, hand soap, hand lotion, and even fabric softener sheets. The home is a very short walk to South Haven's South Beach on Lake Michigan. It's pretty close to the kids park too. The home is also only a couple of blocks away from everything downtown. We had our own patio and grill as well as a beautifully landscaped gated and fenced in yard. The picnic table seated at least 8 or 10 people. There were Adirondack chairs for relaxing in the evening. We were so close to the harbor that we could hear the free music on Thursday night without having to fight the crowd. The home is beautifully decorated. We had cable TV and a DVD player in each of the bedrooms and living room. The refrigerator also had an ice and water dispenser in the door. We had grilling utensils too. Other homes we've stayed at we had to bring our own paper products and linens. We didn't need to bring anything extra here! We even had on site off road parking available. We absolutely loved our vacation time here. We will be visiting again next year!

Lovingly restored home and beautiful gardens stand out as one of the best in South Haven. The location is a few short blocks to the beach, the river, and downtown. It was very hard to leave this fantastic home. Cathy

Perfect Home, Perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

We went to South Haven for a week and stayed at Marla and Jims place and everything was amazing! The house is so cozy and well kept, well furnished and so comfortable. From the moment we pulled in the drive and were greeted by Marla and Jim we knew we made the right choice in rentals. The home is so close to town and the beach that you can walk to everything! So many great restaurants in town to enjoy. We ate at Black River Tavern and saw the comedy show! So funny! Not to miss evening! Admiral Jacks is a great place for a bite to eat and enjoy the sunset. And speaking of sunsets..... they are so beautiful in South Haven. We did an afternoon in Holland , if you go , you have to eat at 8th Street Grille. And we spent an afternoon in Saugatuck shopping and ate at The Butler and saw a musical at the Center of Performing Arts. It was so funny! It was fabulous! Would recommend checking out the venue and any upcoming performances. The best part of the house is just how close it is to the beach. We had such a relaxing enjoyable stay. The owners thought of everything for your needs. We definitely will be back next year!

A great family vacation spot in South Haven, MI

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have been vacationing in South Haven for the past 6 years with Marla and Jim. They have a fantastic house/apt on a side street on the south side of town. Just three short blocks from all the downtown activity, this vacation home is perfect for those looking for a quiet, peaceful, wonderfully decorated, and spacious place to stay. My whole family loves that it's convenient to all the sights and sounds of South Haven, and we love all the amenities that they offer (internet, dishwasher, washer, dryer, fenced in yard, grill etc). I wouldn't stay anywhere else with my family. Thank you Marla and Jim. You guys are fantastic!!!!!

Greatest place in South Haven.

  • 5 of 5

My family has been coming to South Haven for the last six years. This property is located one block off of the Black River. We were able to walk to everything (kids park, public beaches, great dinning and shopping. The only time we needed to get in the car was to go Gingerman Raceway in the evenings for some car racing. The location alone makes it great - but the house and amenities makes it the best.

We stayed at this property twice this summer (7 days each). We enjoyed it that much.

Every thing was well appointed. Having things like a coffee maker, dish washer, washer and drier, a large bathtub / shower, wifi and cable tv made everything so comfortable. It has a nice front yard that you can unwind after a long fun filled day. I really enjoyed the porch for reading the tablet.

The house is located on is a dead end street (near the end) so it's convenient to everything and very quiet. You also get a small view of lake Michigan while sitting on the couch. How great is that?

Our favorite thing to do is kayak the black river. You can be a novice or do a little harder paddle by manuvering the trees father east. Its great fun. Check out the foundry for some night time entertainment. the movie theater is also a great place, inexpensive and the way theaters were meant to be. The Kal Haven Trail is near by for great hiking or biking. This is a 40 mile groomed trail. It takes you to Kalamazoo Michigan. Enjoy great shoping along the coastline!
