Frequently Asked Questions
Is the cottage private?
Yes, our cottage is on a quiet, pristine part of the lake. We have two neighbors. One is 100 feet away, the other 75 feet away. Trees between our cottages create privacy. Both neighbors appreciate privacy.
How close is the cottage to the waterfront?
About 150 feet. There is a path from our cottage down to the waterfront.
What is the waterfront like?
There is a 20 foot wide, sandy, shallow cove to enter the water for swimming and boating. The remaining 80 feet of the waterfront is rocky with bushes and trees. The waterfront area is owned by our neighbors. We have deeded access to the cove area for recreational use. Our neighbors have their own private waterfront so the cove area is usually only used by our guests.
Are there lake views from the cottage and deck?
Yes. It is a beautiful angled view of a portion of the lake. There is a photo of the view.

Our family was looking forward to spending time together on Rangely Lake and we weren't disappointed. The camp was the perfect size for two parents and three children. We played in the lake every day, explored the two nearby towns and ventured out on several hikes. It was so nice to come back to the camp in the afternoons to cook dinner and play board games. A relaxing and enjoyable vacation! Thank you so much for sharing your lovely camp.
The cottage is small but comfortable enough. However, upon my arrival I noticed small black droppings on the kitchen counter. I then picked up a lawn chair and walked about 100 – 150 feet through a 4-5’ wide path to the lake where I the landowner immediately told me she was “the owner of all this land and the driveway.” She further stated that the cottage owner only had an “easement” to lake. Contrary to the written instructions I received from the cottage owner (to take the chair/kayak to the cottage at night) she informed me that the only way the chair could stay by the cove was if I were present. This means, I would have to do this several times per day if I were to leave the lake for any amount of time. She went on to complain about other renters who had brought children to the cottage and were walking about the cove, which apparently was also prohibited. In addition, her dog continuously barked and snarled at me each time he saw me despite my attempts to friend him and despite the fact that the owner kept on calling his name. Needless to say, I felt unwelcome. I left a telephone message to the cottage owner but he didn’t return my call. In addition, the washing machine was not functioning (the owner had decided to fix it after my departure and I knew this;) however, the repairman showed up unannounced and unaware the repair had been canceled. The kitchen faucet was extremely difficult to open (had to be pulled up really hard) and I feared it would break each time we used it. The next day after my arrival there were more black droppings on the counter and the culprits had eaten through the plastic of my loaf of bread. We ended up storing not only the food but also the silverware and dishes in the refrigerator. The lake is beautiful and so is the nearby small town and surroundings. I debated as rating this property fair or average. I have decided on average based on the price. Based on my experience I would have rated fair. I wish my stay would have been more pleasant.
The cottage is open sunny warm and completely renovated with dishwasher, washing machine. Great views of Saddleback Mountain. We kayaked out to the islands and nature preserve. Listening to the magical sounds of loons in the evening. Enjoyed our campfire with smores and stories by the fire..... We biked to the Oquossoc General Store each morning to grab freshly made donuts and coffee. We are nature enthusiasts and also enjoyed the restaurants, book store, and amenities of Rangeley town. Thank you!!!!!
