About Jane Bowers
I've spent pretty much all my long adult life in Boston, active in local affairs and working with community based nonprofit organizations. As a lover of this city, I am proud and pleased to help others enjoy its many charms.
Why Jane Bowers chose Jamaica Hills / Pond
This house, renovated quite completely in 2004, is a wonderful base for me in the lovely Jamaica Plain neighborhood, and is fully accessible for wheelchair users. It is my own residence and I rent the house out when I travel, especially to visit my sons & grandson.

Jane was excellent to work with. The house was very accommodating for a large family. Able to walk to shops in Jamaica Plains neighborhood. Everything was perfect!
This is an amazing and beautiful home. My team enjoyed the amenities of the home . We would gladly rent again!
Thank you so much for the lovely review! I am so glad the team enjoyed the home, and I would be delighted to welcome them back. Even in February, Boston is fun, and my house is an easy, comfortable base to settle into, or to use as a base for adventuring.
Home with accessible amenities
I never got the opportunity to meet Jane Bowers however she did stay in touch with us to handle our needs. She was only a call or a text away. The handicapped acessible into the house and bathroom was great. We had a couple of questions/issues and she addressed and answered them immediately. The house is large so plenty of room. The private parking in the yard is a definite bonus if you are driving. Parking is a definite premium in the Boston area so being able to have private parking was great. Lots of local restaurant within walking distance as well as grocery store. Jane thanks for sharing your home. The one thing I would do is put a television in the front room for family time. The ones who did want to watch TV had to watch in bedrooms separately. We stayed busy and we had a great trip. Jane thanks for being so kind and helpful and sharing your home. Kathryn
Although I did not meet our host, she was very responsive to calls and texts. Went out of her way to give us the lay of the land in the area. A binder contained information about the house operations, contacts for her, the maintenance person, and the amenities in the surrounding area. If you want to watch TV, the only one is in one of the sleeping areas. Our group did not have much use for the TV, so that was not an issue for us.
The beds were comfortable.
Beautiful Home and Convenient Location
This home was so warm and welcoming. The location was convenient for getting around Boston. The owner was so delightful. She answered all questions and was very helpful in providing information to make out stay even better. I would highly recommend this home to anyone traveling to Boston.
As for helpful tips, if you are used to a quiet country setting, bring earplugs. It wasn’t noisy for a city location, it was just more noisy that living in the countryside.
A beautiful house we instantly felt at home even 3500 miles from it.
Well described in the advert we needed space and wheelchair access and we got both. Access to Boston by train was superb and so easy house is a 10 minute walk away. A good location .
Beautiful location for history & today: Freedom Trail & Paul Revere House; Red Sox & Celtics; Harvard, MIT, BU, BC & dozens of other colleges and universities. Fall leaf-peeping, Winter lights, Spring blossoms, Summer outdoors. Go to theater, symphony, art galleries, world music. Great museums of art, science, history. Jamaica Plain, city neighborhood with a small town feel, is known for private & public gardens like Arnold Arboretum, for a shopping street with all conveniences and few chains. And such great food! Award winning restaurants like Ten Tables feature locally grown produce; bakeries like Blue Frog make you drool.
