If you have a large group, please check out our lower condo, which also sleeps 6. It is property #600042.
From a recent review of our lower unit that nailed it: "This isn't the Four Seasons...and it's not priced to be. It's an older property providing convenient, affordable accommodation in a great location, perfect for families."

My husband and I are flatlanders from Nebraska, but have always loved to ski--mostly in Colorado. When we retired we set out to find the perfect ski mountain. We visited different slopes in Colorado, Wyoming and Montana.
Cynthia purchased this Chalet in 2005
Why Cynthia chose Whitefish
Big Mountain caught our attention as we experienced excellent skiing with no lift lines, friendly folks, and the perfect chalet duplex right on the mountain. We stay in the upstairs unit with our two hunting dogs, Stilton and Storm several weeks each season, renting it out when we are elsewhere along with the lower unit year-round.
What makes this Chalet unique
We love sharing the experience of living in a private home on the mountain in walking distance to the village, the slopes and all the winter and summer activities. Come stay--you'll love it too!

Great! As expected, great price for size and location.
great access to slopes, but cheaply maintained unit.
the accessibility to the slopes was great. However, the building itself was clearly maintained by do- it-yourself people and not by professionals. It looked like things had been cheaply corrected. Also, the other renter was smoking pot and the smell permeated the unit that we were in. If you are mostly interested in getting to the slopes easily, this is a good choice, but if you want a unit that has been maintained well, look somewhere else.
We use professional repair people when needed. The only thing I can think of that is a "do-it-yourself" repair is the refrigerator door. The door shelves have all been broken and rather than buy a new fridge, we have used duck tape to rather effectively keep the shelves usable!
We loved the cozy chalet! The views were lovely, we could see the ski hills and it was so convenient
The kitchen had everything we needed. The chalet is located close to the village and to lifts. We enjoyed a cozy fire after chilly days of skiing. The grandkids loved sleeping in the loft area and doing the puzzles and card games that were on the bookshelves. And what a great library! We want to go next year and stay there again.
Didn't have a chance to enjoy all the amenities
We were booked for 3 nights and arrived at 11pm. I do recommend arriving in daylight; it makes it easier to find the location and the keys. We were awakened at 7am the next morning to a call about a death in the family. So we really didn't even get to admire the scenery. But Cynthia was great about a partial refund. That says a lot right there - peak season in Whitefish. Would really like to go back under better circumstances.
Great place for a family
This was a perfect place for our family to homebase from for our weeks stay. It was great the kids had the whole upstairs to sleep and play ( with a fun hidden playroom to boot). There is no air conditioning but fans are provided and leaving all the windows open kept it cool enough with the mountain air.
If you arrive at night you might want to keep your phone out for a flashlight. Lighting was all turned off and unplugged when we got there, so be prepared.
Otherwise, we would be back again for sure.
Everything was exactly as described. The Upper Chalet had everything one could need for a relaxing stay. Skiing, restaurant, bars, and a mini market were also all within quick walking distance. LOVED our stay!
If I had to pick anything to critique, it would simply be that the motion sensors for the lights in the stairs should be located at both top and bottom. Lights only came on once you reached the very top. No incidences, but a possible safety issue.
All in all, a wonderful stay! Will be on the top of my list when we visit again!
Glacier National Park's West Glacier entrance is 33 miles from the chalet.
