Beautiful Home & Homeowners are Amazing

  • 5 of 5

We rented this wonderful home at the last minute to escape Hurricane Irma in Tampa. The home by far exceeded our expectations. It is quaint, roomy, spotless, and fully stocked with anything you might need. Our toddler daughter loved seeing the horses, goats, pig, pony, donkey, and chickens. Out teenager went on a horse ride with the owners' daughter, and she even took him to a home football game! Our three dogs had a blast in the huge fenced yard and stable area, which had a comfy couch just for them. There is a lovely lake with jet skis, fishing gear, etc. and plenty of beautiful places to take a walk or run. Before I could even ask if we could stay longer, the homeowners told us that the rental was not available for an extension, but they offered that we could stay in their personal home as long as we needed to... who does that?! I cannot say enough positive things about both this home and this family. (As a side note, I was in awe of how hard their teenager daughter worked and her kindness.). Although we did not have to take them up on their offer, we will be forever grateful to them for easing our fears that we would have no where to go. I can't wait to come back here under less stressful circumstances.

A chance to live a different life! It was everything I dreamed of life on a horse farm!

  • 5 of 5

We had to be out of our house while hardwood floors were finished and instead of forcing 3 tween boys into a hotel and boarding 2 dogs we opted for life on this horse farm! Best decision ever! The boys loved feed goats, a pig and riding horses with the family. In their "down time" they fished in the lake behind "the big house" and had their dogs help them hunt crickets. We will forever be talking about Bear being the best cricket hunting dog. There are several paths to hike. Some are more rugged than others and as Tweens are they decided we need to make a meme of their picture that says "the time we knew mom had us lost in the woods even if we could see the house." On This same hike our "fluffy house" dog sat down and made us carry him back while "the greatest cricket hunting dog" brought frogs from a creek and barked at a tree that sent 20 butterflies in motion. That was beautiful!!! Even as I write I realize nobody will know how truly memorable time here has been without going. It's not for everyone! You have to walk, there are farm animals and smells but it's an adventure and such an amazing place. I'm not sure anyone even missed their Xbox because apparently pictionary is epic fun! My favorite memory is of my youngest son....well it's my memory and you need to just go make your own...

Owner's Response: Loved having your beautiful family. 3 adventurous and inquisitive boys who took advantage of the beautiful outdoors! Love seeing them go off fishing and helping feed the farm animals. Charlotte was so impressed with their enthusiasm riding and caring for the horses. Luna misses the morning clovers! It seemed like a great trip for the grandmothers too who got to enjoy time with the grandkids. Hope you comeback soon!

Sunset Bay was the most unique rental house I've ever stayed at. Very peaceful and relaxing!

  • 4 of 5

The rustic farmhouse is about 15 minutes from town and is surrounded by beautiful scenery as far as you can see. If you like animals, this is the place for you! There are horses, goats, dogs, birds, squirrels, and even a pot bellied pig named "Yonkers!" My daughter and granddaughter got to feed the horses and play with the neighbor's dogs. The house is about a ten minute walk down the hill to the lake. My husband built a fire in the fire pit outside and one in the Franklin stove inside and it was a perfect place to celebrate a belated Christmas with my granddaughter. I cooked a huge brunch every morning and a delicious meal in the evening so it really felt like home! The king bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable and we slept good every night except for the first night we were there. When we arrived at the house, it was about 8:00 PM, so it was dark and we couldn't see what was around us outside. During the night, we heard something on the roof and bumping noises underneath the house. We turned on all the outside lights, but we couldn't see anything. We thought someone was trying to break into the house. In the morning, I walked out to look around, and had no idea that the house is built on top of a stable! The noises that we heard below during the night were goats, a horse, and a pot bellied pig. The noises on the roof were squirrels I think. I was so relieved that the noises came from the animals and not an intruder! We didn't have any problems sleeping the rest of the trip. Sunset Bay was definitely the most unique place that I've ever stayed at and I would recommend it for a relaxing getaway.
