About the property

Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Located in the Marais, one block from the Place des Vosges and two minutes from Picasso museum, this lovely vacation apartment is sure to become your home-away-from-home in Paris. Set on the second floor of a very quiet and charming 17th century building, it is reached easily by one wide flight of stairs.

The apartment shows the highest standard for quality and comfort. It will charm you with designer furniture and touches of traditional French antiques. Splashes of dramatic color pleasantly energize the décor and the newly refinished wood floors shine. Gracious and thoughtful amenities are included throughout. An airy and sunny 520 square feet of space, beautifully renovated and furnished.

The living room has three large French windows facing a courtyard. There is a Ligne Roset sofa which easily becomes a comfortable bed for two. Two easy chairs and an ottoman accent the room's color scheme and modern design. Beautiful, sleek lamps give plenty of light for reading and other activities. Cable TV, stereo and CD player are conveniently located for use in the room. Wireless internet throughout.

The bedroom also has a large French window which faces the courtyard. The Ligne Roset bed is queen-sized with a padded headboard (perfect for reading in bed) and a firm mattress. Linens are 100% cotton and the pillows and comforter are extremely comfortable. The walk-in closet provides plenty of storage space.

The kitchen is large and has an antique table with matching chairs. New countertops, cabinets, ceramic sink and sage green floor tiles create a wonderful environment for cooking and eating. Fully equipped, the kitchen includes a dishwasher, washer/dryer, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker.

The bathroom has a glassed-in shower and bathtub. A towel warmer, hairdryer and plenty of space for your things add convenience to this room.

This wonderful apartment is ideally located on rue Saint Gilles, one block from Place des Vosges in the heart of The Marais, this is the Paris so often see idealized in films and on postcards. The Place des Vosges, the oldest and one of the most beautiful squares in Paris, is a favorite of Parisians and tourists alike - a place to relax, stroll and take in the beauty of the city.

The Marais and nearby Place de la Bastille is home to some of the most important figures and events in Parisian history. Victor Hugo made his home at number 6 Place des Vosges and Balzac and Dumas resided in le Marais. The Picasso Museum, nearby at the Hotel Sale, is home to the world’s most significant collection of his work. The Musée Carnavalet on rue de Sévigné is one of the most interesting of Paris museums. It illustrates the history and development of Paris up to the present.

The bustling nightlife of the Marais is vibrant with its restaurants, club scene, concerts, cafés, and jazz bars. Less than a 10-minute walk will take you to the year-round program of opera and ballet at The Opera Bastille.

You can easily walk to Centre Georges Pompidou, Le Louvre, Forum des Halles, Notre-Dame, and many other Parisian landmarks.

Every Thursday and Saturday morning, there is the large outdoor market on Boulevard Richard Lenoir and a well-stocked, small supermarket, G20, has opened on rue Saint Gilles. Within the neighborhood are many wonderful specialty food shops and bakeries.

Métro Lines: About one block from Métro: Chemin Vert (line 8). About 5 minute walk to Métro: Bastille (lines 1/8/5) or Métro: St Paul (line 1).

We have agents in Paris available to solve any emergencies should they arise.

About Joelle Dussuyer

I was born in France, Lyon and I have lived in San Francisco now for 36 years. David and I just got married in July. It has been a pleasure hosting so many nice guests through out the last many years. We are looking forward to have you too! :)

Joelle Dussuyer purchased this apartment in 2002

Why Joelle Dussuyer chose Paris

It is simply the most hip area of Paris, yet full of history, good restaurants and attractive shops. It's centrally located, walking distance to many of Paris' greatest museums and landmarks, and easily accessible by metro. Simply the best area in town.

What makes this apartment unique

Designed for American tourists by a French native who has lived in the States for 36 years. I had you in mind. The apartment is very quiet, very comfortable, clean and beautiful. The tub has a regular shower in it (something that you don't always get in Paris). The bed is so comfortable that I bought one for my own place in San Francisco. I've had several renters tell me that it is the best bed they have ever slept in. Moon, my Paris contact is the best!

Perfect in every way!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful location. Clean, perfectly appointed for cooking and relaxing. Pleasant and comfortable furnishings. Communications with Joelle and her assistant, Sol, were clear and seamless, and very accommodating. We felt very safe in the surroundings, close to nearby grocery stores and restaurants and within walking distance of many sights of the city. We absolutely loved our time there, and highly recommend it!

This 1 bedroom apartment perfectly suited our needs and expectations. Our hostess, Joelle, and our local contact, Florence, were attentive to any question or request; very genial.

My husband and I so love Paris and we will gladly stay here on our next trip. Oh, I must not forget to say that the bed is wonderful!

Joelle’s place was perfect for our stay. The apartment is bright, roomy, very comfortable and well appointed. The bed is super comfy, as were the pillows. It is an easy walk up one flight of stairs to the apartment. Once in the apartment, you feel completely at home, almost like you are living in Paris.

The kitchen was well equipped and everything functioned as expected. Joelle has a great binder with information on the apartment and restaurant recommendations.

The neighborhood can’t be beat. The Marais is a great neighborhood. Joelle’s place is close to several major attractions, close to lots of restaurants and some of the best chocolate croissants I’ve ever had!! If you want to feel like you are part of a neighborhood, but not stuck in a super touristy place, Joelle’s place will be perfect for you.

Communication with Joelle was easy and very quick. I can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed staying at this apartment.

Our one week stay at Joelle's one bedroom apartment in the Marais was perfect. It is centrally located and easy to walk everywhere on the Right and Left Banks. The apartment is comfortable, safe, quiet, and decorated with simple beauty. The bed is excellent for sleeping and the living area is spacious and filled with light. It has everything we needed including a towel warmer in the bathroom! Across the street is a convenience store and Bien, a fabulous health food store, and down the street is Au Pain St. Gilles, an artisan boulangerie, so we were all set for making simple breakfasts and picnic lunches. Joelle was supportive and responsive to our questions as we prepared for our first visit to Paris. It was magical! Au revoir Paris et merci beaucoup, Joelle.

Friendly helpful owner and caretakers but not quite up to price

  • 1 of 5

The owner and location is really good, but the apartment has some issues, oven doesn't work (at least for us), also it was not recommended by caretaker when we arrive to use washer/dryer as doesn't do anything more then very small did not use at all ..public laundromat nearby. A fire occurred in the first floor suite on the 2nd day of a 12 day stay so the street entry door lock was not functioning and left open the rest of our stay along with no hall lights working and smell of smoke in hall. We needed to notify owners about the fire and the lack of street entry security and light issue. Think I would have financially compensated renters for these issues!

Owner's Response: Jill, your review was distressing to me and I would like this opportunity to clarify the events and your grievances. Your visit came at unfortunate time and some of the circumstances were out of my control. The fire on the ground floor was a tragedy and I understand the ways you were inconvenienced. I feel I tried my best to deal with the situation from San Francisco. We had several email exchanges and I had the local manager check to make sure you were ok and that the apartment was ok. I provided an extra full cleaning, supplied you with a flashlight for safety on the stairs and I also understand the neighbor was so kind and checked in on you to see how you were doing. I mis-evaluated the inconvenience that was created and did not realize you wanted to be compensated. I hope you know that I heard you and since have compensated you $500. I sincerely apologize for not being more pro-active. As for the oven, I checked with Florence and it is working. I’m sorry that you did not realize you could voice this problem to Florence when she was there because she would have been able to resolve the problem. It is true that the washer and dryer are only able to handle small loads but they are totally appropriate and very efficient for my guest’s needs. Your review was such a concern for me because in the last ten years I have had excellent 5 star reviews. I put a lot of work and heart into making the experience of renting my home in Paris pleasant and feel my prices are competitive. I am hoping that after all is said and done you feel heard and in the end treated fairly. For my futur guests:The problem that the fire created has been resolved now.
