THE SETTING

Located in the small town of North East, PA, east of Erie, we're in a small, beautiful, historically cottage neighborhood with access to a private beach for residents and guests only.

Beach access is easy -- no cliffs, no bluffs, no staircases -- just a short walk 99 steps down our quiet road. We provide a wagon for your kids or your beach gear. We have a natural Lake Erie shoreline with stones and sand where you can swim, hunt for beach glass, skip stones, sunbathe, build driftwood camp fires, roast marshmallows and hot dogs over a fire, make s'mores, walk along the shore or enjoy a glass of wine while watching our fabulous sunsets. Each night is a different show -- my favorite is when the sun 'falls' into the lake in front of colorful skies.

We recommend beach stone painting and driftwood painting as a fun activities for all ages. You provide the artists. The beach has plenty of driftwood for small campfires!

CYCLING & RUNNING

Bring your bikes... with only 12 homes on our tucked away street there is very little car traffic. Older kids can ride around the neighborhood, and adults can be more adventurous if you'd like. North East is gorgeous for biking and running with miles of vineyards and orchards.

BOATS & SMALLCRAFT

Launch your kayak, paddleboard, canoe or sailboard right from the beach. Larger boats and jet skis can be launched from the North East Marina, just 1.4 miles east.

VINEYARDS, ORCHARDS, WINERIES

We are in the heart of Pennsylvania's wine country, where you'll see miles of grape vineyards and orchards. Pick-ur-own or buy freshly-picked produce at one of numerous roadside farmstands. Watch wine being made and experience wine tastings as close as 0.5 mile away. If you are lucky enough to visit during grape harvest in September, you'll experience the aroma of ripened grapes on the vine as the aroma fills the town.

WORLD CLASS FISHING RIGHT HERE

Fishermen love our proximity to excellent walleye, perch, lake trout, bass and steelhead fishing -- this is the world renowned steelhead alley. Our location is between 16 and 20 Mile Creeks for stream fishing. Elk Creek and Walnut Creek are a 30-40 minute drive. Looking for a charter? Don't pick blindly. When you stay at any of my homes (owned or managed) ask me to put you in touch with my brothers who fish on a pro team locally and offer charters or recos.

QUAINT TOWN & CONVENIENT SHOPS

ANNUAL EVENTS

Don't miss 'Thursdays in the Park' in downtown North East during the summer -- free events each week feature a farmer's market and family entertainment every Thursday during the summer months. Check the North East Chamber of Commerce website for year round events. Summer events include weekly live Music in the Vineyards at Penn Shore Winery, Outdoor music at Arundel Cellars and Lakeview Wine Cellars, Picnic in the Park and Farmer's Markets, and local festivals. High Season continues into fall when the wineries are abuzz with harvesting. About Lynne Clement

I'm Lynne Clement. I love managing our rental properties and being a marketing consultant/property manager for other vacation rental owners. Look me up if you need help. I am also a full time web content writer for a local publisher. Originally from Erie, PA, I have lived all over the country for 20 years. When our kids became school-aged, we moved back to Erie where they could have a place to call home and have close relationships with extended family. I am also a Nittany Lion, Xavier Musketeer and Procter & Gamble alum. My husband Duane is a UB Chemist and Chemical Engineer who was transferred into Brand Marketing at Procter & Gamble. He now specializes in Marketing Research/Analytics with expertise in Business Intelligence and Customer Satisfaction. With our cottage rentals it is very important to us to delight our guests with a clean, well-stocked, comfortably furnished home.

Lynne Clement purchased this house in 2009

Why Lynne Clement chose Great Lakes

As a child, my favorite memories were of visiting this special beach community. My dad's best friend owned this little slice of heaven where kids could be kids and adults were always in a good mood as they enjoyed good company. My parents eventually bought the home next door to their friends. Years later, my husband and I bought the house on the opposite side so that we could provide happy traditions and memories for our kids. I have been coming to this place for 40+ years!

What makes this house unique

I wanted my kids to grow up ejoying the same memories I had... swimming at the beach, treasure hunting for beach glass, outdoor bbqs, gathering driftwood for bonfires complete with s'mores and hot dogs, searching for and carving that perfect roasting stick, catching minnows and crayfish in the creek, walking barefoot on dirt roads to the beach, skipping stones, floating on rafts, painting beach stones, and building teepees from fallen branches. As an adult, I appreciate getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and entertaining friends and their kids just like I remember from those days as a child.

The cottage was great! Clean, well stocked and convenient to local attractions.

  • 5 of 5

The owner (Lynne) was extremely helpful! She was always willing to give pointers and could answer every question I asked about the area and the what to do and what not to do's! Overall a great (but to short) get away. Presque Isle State Park (about 30 minutes from the cottage) was amazing, definitely a must see for anyone visiting the area. Thank you Lynne for a great stay, and a special THANK YOU for helping me out with the kayaks!

Just returned from a 5 night stay with my daughters and close friends. Had a relaxing getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the cottage is clean and updated & included all the amenities. Especially loved the great room with open kitchen, dining. It was very spacious. We mainly visited to explore and experience the wineries close by and were not disappointed! We did go to Freeport Beach one afternoon, it was relaxing but very difficult to walk because of the coarseness of the stones & a lot of geese remains. The small area at the end of the street was a little disappointing because of the lakes water level. It was not possible to walk the shoreline due to the height of the water, possibly due to abundance of rain & storms. Enjoyed dining at Noosa at the North East Marina, Freeport restaurant which is also very close to cottage and The Bean in downtown Northeast. Also had to make stop at the Straw Hat ice cream stand selling Penn State Creamery ice cream. My granddaughter had an opportunity to paint some stones that she gathered at end of our road at the beach. We enjoyed the serenity of the location and hope to return again.

Perfection

  • 5 of 5

My friend and I have now stayed two years at this quaint Lake Erie house - with our 5 children in tow. The house has everything you need and if you need something extra (like a blender or a muffin pan) Lynne will make sure you get it. The house is cute and clean and is well stocked with dish washer and laundry soap. We found 3 local beaches, plus the beach at the end of the lane and spent our days swimming in the lake, painting rocks, and looking for sea glass.

Absolutely wonderful cottage!

  • 5 of 5

My friend and I spent several days last week at the cottage - old friends getting together to catch up. The cottage was perfect. It was exceptionally clean, fully stocked with everything we needed and was a wonderful base for a day trip to Niagra Falls in Canada. We also spent a day touring the lovely small towns in the area and, of course, the wineries! We highly recommend this little red cottage by the lake.

We absolutely loved our stay. The house was perfect and clean. A lot of amenities, close to the beaches, and in the middle of wine country. We couldn't have asked for better accommodations.
