Excellent lake, good cottage

  • 5 of 5

The lake is excellent! We do a lot of water sports (skiing, tubing, wake boarding) and this lake was perfect, most weekdays we were the only ones on the lake. You can boat to middle range pond, though we scraped bottom (d'oh!) as we passed under the small bridge between the two lakes, maybe we had too many people in the boat. The dock area was easy to dock a boat, great for swimming, nice and deep at end of the dock. The cottage was nice, kids loved the foosball table. Kitchen was adequate, cooked almost all our meals there. Medium size weber grill worked well. Bedrooms were nice, able to sleep 9. Hard to tell from pics, but cottage is about 100' from the lake, looked closer in the pics.

Owner's Response: David, Thank you for the review and staying at the camp. Yes the camp is 100 feet from the lake per code when the house was built. Fire pit on water between house and lake I think is good shore side seating and path to lake. Thanks again for staying!

An authentic Maine lake house

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here with my family and had friends visit for a very enjoyable 4th of July barbecue. The grill, outdoor seating and fully equip kitchen were all very useful. We also really enjoyed taking the canoe and kayaks out on the lake. There is also a nice fire pit by the lake and many camping chairs in the basement we used to comfortably sit around a fire in the evenings. Overall is was a memorable vacation. Upper range pond is also amazing. As a native Mainer, I can say it's nicer than many other lakes thanks to fewer homes on its shores. During the day there was usually only one or two boats on the lake and this was during 4th of July week, which made our stay even more relaxing.

I will say that since Maine legalised fireworks, and taking into consideration it was the 4th, there were tons of people in the area setting off fireworks. This is the case anywhere in Maine now though.

Overall we had an amazing time and would recommend to others.

Great location. Clean. Quiet. Well maintained .

  • 5 of 5

We spent 6 days at the house. We had two families, four adults and five kids. The house worked well for us. The kitchen was well equipped and everything worked properly. We especially enjoyed the fire pit and the private dock. The water was crystal clear and the kids enjoyed swimming and floating on water toys. We used the kayaks and canoe that came with the house , and we brought two of own. I had read on other reviews that it was a good idea to bring beach towels and that was good advice. I overpacked otherwise, as the house really had everything we needed.

The owner was quick to answer our messages both leading up to our vacation as well as during our stay.

Thank you so much for letting us borrow your home.

Owner's Response: Thank you much Kevin. I will be adding beach towels. I will also be adding some water toys when I go up sometime this summer as the tramp had a hole in it when I tried to put it back in before your arrival.

Perfect balance of camp/house.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at your house! The location is beautiful. We loved the hammock and the fire pit and the large area for hosting a cookout. The bunk room was a hit with the kids and cousins! We loved the games and all of the equipment you kindly share with your guests. My 3yo niece loved the foosball and the books!

Great Family Fun!

  • 4 of 5

The house was clean and comfortable . The kitchen was well equipped with everything needed to make some great meals for 10 people. There are beds for 9 people (I made the mistake of thinking there were 3 queen beds due to the 3 pictures shown but 2 pictures were of the same (blue) room.) The dock was awesome and the pond very quiet. We brought our own boat and enjoyed great fishing and tubing. The one kayak also got alot of use. The loons are frequent visitors and my grandchildren were amazed at how close they would come to our boat.

I would suggest that you bring some extra towels. Also bring paper plates etc. since there is no dishwasher. My one complaint is the leaking refrigerator as water drips from somewhere in the freezer onto the food in the fridge. A bowl does not collect it all because it leaks from several spots and ends up in the bottom drawers and on the floor. It is quite unsanitary and definitely needs to be addressed. The firepit (with wood provided) was fun at night. The outdoor furniture was adequate but the outdoor furniture cushions were wet when we arrived and never dried out due to the shady yard. In all, it was a beautiful week and we only left one day to go to Portland Headlight and to Crescent Beach. The other days, everyone was very happy just hanging down at the dock, in the crystal clear water, and on the boat... a beautiful family getaway!
