About N. Marie Ayers
I am a local real estate broker and licensed contractor. I own and operate Ridge Real Estate LLC. I was formerly a CPA but placed my license in 'inactive' status to pursue real estate and contracting full time.
N. Marie Ayers purchased this House in 2006
Why N. Marie Ayers chose Jacksboro
I am a local real estate broker and never planned to own a home on Norris Lake. However, when I found this one with no steps to the water and off the main channel, yet with great year around water, I knew I had to buy it. Our son loves to paddle boat around the cove and fish. Its location, only 2.5 miles from town was a large factor in our purchase as well. We love it and are sure you will too. Come visit 'Gentle Slopes'.
What makes this House unique

Great for Family Reunion
A very nice place for a family reunion. Well-stocked kitchen, including an electric can opener, blender, lots of pots and pans, cookie sheets, casserole dishes, large bowls, everything you need and more, even had salt and other spices. There was plenty of toilet paper, paper towels, and linens.
Great location, only 9 minutes to town with Wal-Mart, Food City, Dollar Tree, and great buffet pizza at Charley’s Pizza Parlor. Located in a very quiet cove near Indian River Marina.
We had a wonderful time with the paddleboats, and the pontoon boat. We enjoyed the pontoon boat every day we were there. However, the golf cart was the deal breaker, especially for the older adults.
We would definitely book this home again.
The owners (Marie and her husband) were very responsive, friendly, and great to deal with.
Thank you for taking the time to post a review. Codey and I strive hard to make this the most comfortable and enjoyable vacation stay for everyone. We try to put a large portion of the rental proceeds into upgrading and maintaining the property each year. However, I think I've reached the end for adding amenities. Lol. I can't think of anything else to add. I look forward to having your family stay with us again.
This place is great!
Well, this is a large property, as described! It has plenty of seating room on the deck, which I think is great! It's a clean and well maintained property and everything was in good working order. I think there's something there for everyone! The views are beautiful and this lake is so clean and nice! The dock is just great also, very big with picnic tables too-Thanks goodness for the pontoon-we took our ski boat, but ran into a mechanical issue, we would have been left boatless! My entire family just enjoyed this property! we met some great people at the marinas and had a fun time-I didn't want to leave!!!!
Thank you for commenting. I know when I go to book a vacation rental the responses mean a lot. We enjoy our home in the off season and do everything we can to make it the best stay on Norris Lake anyone has ever had. I am pleased that everyone had a great time and you enjoyed the pontoon boat. Although this boat has done well fir everyone this summer we are hoping to add an even newer and larger one sometime in the next 2 years (as soon as we can find a good one at a reasonable price). Feel free to email or call me anytime with suggestions or to reserve your next stay. I am already booking for next year. We hope to see your family again next year. Thanks for staying with us.
I have to think this is the best value on Norris Lake. All of the toys (Pontoon boat, Paddle boats, Golf Car, Pool table, ...) were a great hit with the family. There was something for everyone. We had a great time --- our grandson is already asking when are we going back to the Lake house. Pictures don't really do the place justice - it's better in person.
The owner of the property met with us on our arrival date and showed us around and how to use the various equipment - she was extremely nice. We received our security deposit in a very timely manner. We highly recommend.
GREAT STAY AT GENTLE SLOPES.
Myself and 11 family members stayed at Gentle Slopes in June 2014. We really enjoyed the house and it's many amenities. The golf cart made our trips to and from the dock easier, the pontoon boat was nice and ran good, the pictures do not do the dock justice at all, it is very roomy and big. The house itself is very basic but clean and well equipped, the basement is not finish but it is very clean and served as a great place for the kids to retreat to. When not on the water we spent most of our time on the deck, which was very spacious and has alot of seating. The owners went above and beyond during our stay, ready to address any issues or questions in a timely manner. I would reccommend this house for anyone. However, something I would have liked to have known was that it is in a quiet cove behind a marina and a little section of floating houses, I believe this resulted in debrie washing around the cove at times and the water didn't always seem as clean as we are use to with Norris Lake. We still swam off the dock but there were times we didn't because of the way the water looked.
Thank you for staying with us and glad you had a great time. We work hard to provide all the amenities we can. We add things each year, like the pontoon boat this year. Most marinas charge at least $250 per day for a boat. I just happened to find a great deal in a pontoon and am happy to pass it along to our guests. Your right though....the pictures don't do the home justice. I try to put as much detail as possible into the description. Its just very hard to describe everything in writing. We love the location in the cove behind the marina. Most 'coves' are not deep year around water but this one is. As for the debris..we clean the lake bank each Spring but then due to the fluctuating water levels there can be more float in. It doesn't have anything to do with the marina but just the fact that we are in a quiet cove. We've found there are more pros to being in the cove such as its calm enough to pedal boat around, you can swim without being afraid of being hit by a passing boat, the dock doesn't get beat up and the water stays uniformly cleaner year around verses on the main channel because the boat waves are not hitting the bank. Another thing with this year over others is that the lake level has been lower, therefore there's not as much water flowing thru the dam and as a result the water doesn't flow out of the cove as rapidly causing some debris to linger. Anyway...thank you for staying and thanks for the review. If anyone has additional specific questions please give me a call. I hope to see you all again!
My family enjoyed our stay at Gentle Slopes. The many amenities allowed to have fun and not spend a lot of money. We hope to return again.
Your group is welcome back anytime. Glad you had a great time. The new all aluminum two slip covered dock is in so come back and check it out. I know we have about anything you could ask for from the pedal boats, fire pit/roasting sticks, dock, hot tub, ping ping, pool table, hammocks, new gas grill, lots of decking & seating, wi-fi, lots of parking and a fully equipped house. If there's anything you suggest adding please send me an email or give me a call. Thanks again.
Not as good as it sounded
This place looked alright on the website, but boy does it disappoint.... The dock is in terrible shape with a VERY low roof over it and it also EXTREMELY narrow under the covered dock, the rest of the dock has no good cleats for tying up a boat. The owner requires all payments to be made in cashiers checks including the
security deposit... Then she holds the deposit for over a month after checkout... VERY UNPROFFESIONAL.... We've rented over a dozen lake houses in the past and NEVER had a deposit held this long and also NEVER had to give the deposit in the form of a cashiers check, personal checks have always been fine with ALL others. Now for the house... There is a sign on so many things it's almost comical... On the basement toilet is a sign that flushing toilet paper YES TOLIET PAPER will result in a charge if the toliet clogs, a toilet should be able to handle toilet paper... The overall condition of the house is also very substandard compared to other places we have rented for less money per night as well. I guess that's what we get looking for a place on 2 weeks notice... Overall I'd say a hotel is a MUCH better choice and just drive to the lake each day.... Don't waste our money on this place.... There are far to many quality lake homes on Norris lake to ever stay at this one....
Our first negative review after years of renters and we have many repeat renters who are grateful for all the amenities and supplies that we furnish with the home. Regarding this post.......I received a text from the wife 9 days after checkout asking when would the deposit be refunded. I politely replied, 'per the rental agreement it will be by the 10th of October' and she never responded. As I am a licensed Real Estate Agent and a Licensed Vacation Lodging agent I am governed by the TN Real Estate Commission who audits my escrow accounts annually. Per the commission, I must do the rental bookkeeping once per month and I adopted the policy of doing this by the 10th of the next month FOLLOWING checkout. Since this family checked out the first of September I could not release their deposit until after the end of September and required by October 10th. The husband then called approximately 15 days later and was irate from the beginning. I explained over and over why the deposit had not been mailed and that it would be mailed asap after the end of September but no later than October 10th. If they had checked out by the end of August then their deposit would have been returned by the 10th of September, but they checked out in September and I cannot change the date of checkout nor the policy or I would be fined by the real estate commission. Since my husband and I purchased the home we have added amenities every year including a golf cart, gravel path, fire-pit, hot tub, pool table, ping pong, 2 hammocks, 1,400+ square foot deck and another full bath in the basement. This bath is below grade and is therefore a grinder/pump system. As this area is generally used by the younger ones of the group, I hoped that putting a sign to not put paper in the toilet would prevent unnecessary clogs and interruptions. The toilet will handle standard amounts of toilet paper BUT you know kids!!! As for the dock, no its not perfect, but it is a covered one slip wooden dock with a large swim platform AS ADVERTISED. We are hoping to add a new dock this year but that could mean the rates would go up next year. Overall I am disappointed that a deposit THAT WAS FULLY REFUNDED and a few days has caused someone to feel the need to slam our nice family home. If you are considering renting please call or email. I will tell you everything about our home, we have nothing to hide. I am here when you arrive if you wish to need anything. Thank you and God Bless!
We are located approximately 1 hour from the Sevierville/Dollywood exit. Many travel to the outlet malls or Dollywood for the day. We are also very near Ride Royal Blue where you can rent ATV's and ride miles of trails. Clinton, TN is well known for its antique shops. Williamsburg, KY is home to KY Splash and just 45 minutes away. You could spend weeks with us and never see it all. Of course most people don't leave Norris Lake.
