My husband and I have been here since 1988. We have been creating our Asian award winning garden . We have since upgraded and remodeled our 1910 Craftsman cabin.
We love sharing our home and gardens with friends, family and visitors to Vashon.
Bonnie McCallister purchased this studio in 1986
You can’t beat Villa Vashon Suite’s location. It is on the bus line and very close to the northend Washington State Ferry dock. The ferry is a short 15 minutes ride from Seattle. During the weekdays you can also take the passenger water taxi directly to downtown Seattle. There are award-winning restaurants in downtown Vashon or if you don’t feel like going anywherere there is a Mexican restaurant at the end of the ferry dock. Margaritas anyone?
It's like being on a boat. It's close to the water and the sound of the waves ,whales, otters seals, sea lions, eagles and seabirds make for a serene sountrack for a relaxing stay.
We enjoyed ourselves immensely during our brief stay. Thank you for sharing your home with us. Many rentals, and believe me we’ve seen many, are not at all as advertised. Not so with Villa Vashon. I would say Villa Vashon exceeded our expectations, and our expectations are quite high. We look forward to returning for a much longer stay.
I really love this place, minus the ferry noise and the softest bed I've ever slept in.
I wish I had slept on the floor, because 2 weeks later and 5 visits to the chiropractor/massage therapist and I'm still hurting. BUT, I have a fragile back, so part of that is my own problem.
But the apartment is really nice, very spacious and very nicely decorated. We had everything we needed. Nice product in the bathroom too, thank you for that added touch!
Exactly as described. Very clean, quiet and the view is awesome! Would definitely come back again. Only suggestion would be to advise of the parking requirement.
Lush heavenly garden with pooling waterfalls. Plenty of private places to relax and meditate. And most important is the friendly nature of the property owners and people of Vashon only a few minutes away by bus. Seattle is about twenty minutes away by ferry with awesome views of water, forests, mountains, and volcanoes--including Mount Rainier.
We stayed at Villa Vashon for a few days last week, some much needed romantic getaway time tacked onto the end of a business trip. From the very beginning, Bonnie's emails were informative and friendly, full of great tips for things to do and see. She provided very clear and easy to follow instructions to get to the property. As soon as we walked in I could see the pictures, amazing though they are, didn't do the place justice. I felt grounded and calm as soon as I walked in. Everything was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, and had all the amenities you could want are right there. They are very thoughtful hosts and decorators, and each time we came back from exploring, we felt like we were coming home.
Let's start with the view...oh my, the view of the water is delightful, and though I had my doubts, what others had reviewed previously is true. You don't notice the sound of the ferries *at all*. There is something special about being right on the water that just makes stress melt away from you, and the little table for two on the terrace overlooking the water is a great place to drink morning coffee and plan your day's exploration...
On Vashon Island itself, we took Bonnie's recommendation and had reservations at May's, which is a delightful Thai restaurant that had the friendliest waitstaff you can imagine. We also drove all over the island exploring, and found the old lighthouse that is definitely worth going to see towards the south end. But, the treasure, the place we went to *four times in 36 hours* was the Vashon Island Baking Co. Their maple bacon croissants are heaven...heaven! as are the ham and cheese croissants. The people are unbelievably nice...go visit this bakery, they open at 7a daily. And, they make their own syrups for espresso drinks.
We also made a day trip up to Port Angeles, exploring Hurricane Ridge before coming back in the evening. There is no shortage of beautiful scenery in the area. We will definitely be back for a longer stay, and can't recommend this place highly enough!
I had a wonderful weekend at Villa Vashon. The space is enormous, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The views of Elliot Bay are stunning. Bonnie was a great host and was easy and warm to work with. I definitely hope to return.
We were VERY comfortable! Georgeous interior with beautiful views of Puget Sound and snow topped Olympics. Bonnie and Dean are exceptional. They made adjustments to suit our lifestyle. We stayed almost 3 weeks and enjoyed every moment.
Vashon Island is a rural oasis located 1/2 hour from downtown Seattle. The island is known for an abundance of artists, studios and organic farms full of produce and flowers. There are many parks and beaches and hiking areas. Whales and wildlife are everywhere to behold.
