Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1,5 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

The unique Place Dauphine is the historical and well preserved center of Paris built by former king Henri IV for his son "le Dauphin" who later became King Louis XIII. The apartment is located on the top floor of a 17th century building with three windows directly on the Place Dauphine with views over the Palais de Justice, Conciergerie and the towers of Notre Dame. Amazingly quiet for a city center since the traffic is restricted. Private elevator. Full kitchen with state of the art appliances. Dining area with elegant tableware. A memorable place to honeymoon or celebrate special events. The central location combined with the serenity of the Place Dauphine and the authentic Parisian atmosphere made me fall in love when I first visited the apartment. There is only one Place Dauphine in the entire world and when you enter or exit the building, you can see on the faces of the people you are crossing that they definitely would love to have those keys. In the past the Place Dauphine was the home of Yves Montant and Simone Signoret and presently many celebs live here. In our building, famous Yves Saint Laurent fashion designer had an apartment in his younger years. On sunny sundays you can participate at the famous 'jeu de boules' which is organized by the café across the place.

The closest metro station is at two minutes (Pont Neuf), but at a 7 minutes walking distance you have two more stations allowing you to reach every part of the city. The RER = fast metro that goes beyond the city limits stops at 6 minutes from the apartment and is direct to Versailles and to Charles de Gaulle Airport. The Louvre museum is at 5 minutes walking distance and Musée d'Orsay at 10 miniutes. For your shopping you can go to the open air market at Saint Germain des Près where you have a great selection (8 minutes walking distance). There is a shopping trolley in the apartment. Ile de la Cité is located at equal distance between Saint Germain des Près, Latin Quarter and le Marais.

Keywords: Elegant, top of the range apartment combining 17th century and modern comfort in unique setting, Hyper City center. A/C great view over historical buildings Many restaurants around.

Romantic atmosphere is the best description I can give.

About Mia Vasseur

As a foreigner (Dutch native) I fell in love with Paris after having travelled around the world. My husband is French and together we spend a lot of time in the museums of this amazing city. The exquisite French food made me decide to attend the Cordon Bleu ( Diplome Supérieur). So I am a good source for cultural events and restaurant information. As a dog owner I am also happy to accept your pets if they behave with respect for my neighbours.

Mia Vasseur purchased this apartment in 2010

Why Mia Vasseur chose Saint-Germain-l'Auxerrois

This is the most beautifull place in Paris and so quiet and central.

What makes this apartment unique

The quietness and this superbe view. Everything here is serenity and tranquility. You feel the history around you but the outfit of the apartment is modern so you do not have the feeling you are in a museum. It is an elegant and welcoming warm apartment.

Charming cozy apartment in great location

  • 4 of 5

The apartment is very pretty and consistent with the pictures. We loved the windows overlooking the Place Dauphine, the mural wall paper, the abundant closets for storage of suitcases. Wifi worked great too.

Location was perfect for walking to everything we wanted to see. A few times we took the metro or bus or uber to reach Eiffel Tower& Arc de Triomphe.

We were in the apartment during a record breaking heat wave with temps reaching 99 everyday. We were able to stay cool in the living/bedroom despite being on the top floor by closing off the apartment hallway doors.

The apartment is lovely but be aware that the stairs up to them are 16th C narrow and twisty with no natural light. The elevator operates by key only and just fits 2 people.

Owner's Response: I am happy to hear that these guests enjoyed the apartment. About the staircase I do not think that these comments are justified. Two people can easily walk up next to each other (we do it every time we carry in between us the heavy bags with linens and towels). There is a light on each floor and natural light through a roof window on the top floor. The elevator is indeed only for two, but it was added 370 years after the building was built in 1607 AD, so there was no big space to put it. It indeed works with a key because this elevator was built in by the former owner of the top floor and since the other owners of the building did not want to participate in the expense, he financed alone the elevator and put the key system so that no one else could use it. The problem is that you can not have 21st century comfort and the charms of a 17th century building, and this is also why Paris is unique.

Beautiful apartment located on the Ile de la Cite.

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful apartment, appears exactly as it does in the pictures and descriptions. I would go there again and recommend it to everyone. The only drawback is that in the 1600's, when it was built, modern elevators were not available, and it is a walk to the 5th floor! We were accompanied by a person unable to walk that far and the elevator was able to transport him. It is a very small elevator. The stairs provide a unique glimpse into the past and maintain the character of the building.

The owner was very helpful, providing the location of a marvelous patisserie and grocery, and responding as quickly as possible to all communications. Highest praise!

Picturesque Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

What can we say that hasn't already been said?

The apartment is charming in every detail. The location is magnificent. Place Dauphine is a sanctuary of calm in the midst of the lively city of Paris. Just next door to the apartment you'll find La Caveau du Palais. We enjoyed two wonderful evenings there. Across the way, La Rose de France also makes for a lovely dining experience.

Everything we wished to see, with the exception of La Defense, was within walking distance, even on the chilliest day of our visit.

Mia, our experience was memorable; we will be in touch.

For the Best Stay in Paris, Stay with Mia

  • 5 of 5

This was the second time that we stayed at the quiet and tranquil 21 Place Dauphine and, once again, had the pleasure of renting from our host, Mia Vasseur-Seebus. We were in Paris when the terrorist attacks happened and were very safe and secure. Mia came in from her home in the suburbs just to check on us. A more thoughtful and caring person does not exist. In fact, we felt safe in every place we walked in Paris and in every museum and public place. We encourage anyone to visit Paris and enjoy this most beautiful city and its friendly and welcoming residents. We intend to return in Spring 2016 and once again stay with Mia at the peaceful Place Dauphine. Not only is the apartment perfectly located for easy access to central Paris, it is handsomely appointed with all amenities possible, including elevator to the top floor; washer/dryer; all small kitchen appliances; fine china, glassware and cutlery; and much, much more. We cannot say enough in praising Mia as the very best host in all of Paris. Same as last year she suggested the best and least expensive way to arrive from the airport and was there to greet us early in the morning. In getting us settled in she remembered what we liked to do and see and had a long list of current museum exhibitions, museums now open that were previously closed, places we had not been yet, and restaurants new to us. A visit to Paris is so much more because of Mia and her wonderful apartment on Place Dauphine. The experience will cause you to return to Paris again and again.

Our Paris Home

  • 5 of 5

This was the second time that my husband and I stayed in Mia's Place Dauphine apartment and everything was just as beautiful as we remembered it. Lovely furnishings and decor, comfy bed, spacious bathroom, a washer/ dryer, and in such a quiet neighborhood.

Mia is fantastic to work with. She is so friendly and knows the city. We look forward to a third trip sometime in the future :)

Gorgeous and Quiet!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in this elegant and perfectly fitted out apartment in March. Elegant decor with everything one could need. The view out the three big windows overlooking Place Dauphin amazing. Morning sun shines in the windows. The towel bar in the bathroom kept the towels and robes toasty warm on cool Paris days. Location: right in the middle of everything but absolutely quiet. Mia was extremely helpful. This apartment was the basis for seeing beautiful Paris. Am afraid to write such a good review as this apartment will be harder to rent again! Thank you, Mia for a lovely place. Very small elevator to 5th floor, which worked very well.

This very central location allows you to walk to most important landmarks, such as Louvre, Notre Dame, etc. For guests that like to walk we recommend France Tourisme. Their offices are just around the corner on Quai des Grands Augustins and they do discovery walks of 2 hours (12€ per person). They take you to areas you might not have discovered on your own. They have guides that speak different languages. Also at 5 minutes walking distance is the RER (RER is the fast metro that goes beyond the city limits). The Station is called Saint Michel/Notre Dame and you can take a train that brings you directly to the Château de Versailles. At 3 minutes walking at the tip of the Ile the la Cité you find the boats that do the cruise on the Seine. Several metro stations are at 3 to 5 minutes walking distance allowing you to discover all parts of Paris. From the apartment you can walk to Saint Germain des Près and the Latin Quarter with its faboulous Cluny Museum that displays medieval art and of course the 5 famous tapestries of the Lady with the Unicorn and inside this museums are Roman baths that are one of the only two Roman heritages Paris still has. On and around Place Dauphine you have several good restaurants. If you walk out of the Island towards the city hall you will reach Le Marais in a 10 minutes walk with the various museums such as Carnevalet (history of Paris in an authentic richly decorated Hotel Particulier), Picasso Museum, Musée des Archives and the Place des Vosges which is the first Royal Place of Paris built by Henri IV in early 17th century. Place Dauphine where the apartment is located is the second Royal Place also built by Henri IV for his son the Daulphin who became Louis XIII.
