Nice, home-like, quiet, clean & comfortable place to stay. Right at the bottom of the mountain from the Blue Ridge Parkway with access (when not closed) at the top. Enjoyable to kick back & watch TV after a long day of running around the area.

Beautifully tucked away gem!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was wonderfully rustic and beautifully decorated! Close to small town amenities...groceries etc. There are so many rentals that are missing one thing, such as a fireplace or outdoor grill. Chestnut Cabin had everything we wanted. Easy to book and pay with full instructions on everything through the Home Away app!

Perfect cabin for our Asheville adventure!

  • 5 of 5

Chestnut Cabin is exactly what I envision when I think of the perfect log cabin. It is beautifully decorated with a stone fireplace in the large living room, and screened porch with fan. Everyone had their own space with the bedroom is on the first floor, and my children loved the adorable loft area with their own beds. It is located just 4 miles down the mountain from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Our first morning there, we took a little drive that ended up an unexpected hike near the Buck Springs Gap Overlook.

The cabin is well equipped and so relaxing. They even had a bin of toys and stack of picture books for the kids! We rarely turned on the TV's (with cable) and just enjoyed playing cards on the screened porch, reading, and soaking in the quiet. Our kids loved playing in the creek behind the cabin.

There is so much to see and do in the Asheville area that we are already talking about returning next year so that we can spend more time hiking and exploring. The mountains have won over the beach for this family!

Owner's Response: Denise, we are so happy you enjoyed your stay at our little cabin. Thank you for the kind review. We strive very hard to make sure our guests can relax and be comfortable while here. Kids do love the creek behind the cabin AND the sleeping loft. We are very fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful areas on the east coast and feel as though our location is perfect for any activity one may want to do. Having the Blue Ridge Parkway, one of the most scenic drives in the USA, so close is an added benefit for those who enjoy hiking, bike riding and camping. Please know you are welcome back at Chestnut Cabin anytime...we love having guests like you and your family stay with us. Don't forget to tell your family and friends :) We hope to see you soon. Happy Travels, Wanda and Marie

Peaceful and relaxing stay for our family of five.

  • 5 of 5

This is our second stay at this property as we fell in love the first time. This time we took our three children; 10, 7, and 6. They loved the cabin but as I suspected fell in love with the creek. We had our boys sleep in the loft upstairs which provides ample privacy for them and us. Our daughter on the couch and of course our own little rustic room.

The cabin/property has plenty of places to sit back and read a book or just take it all in.

The kitchen is well stocked and there wasn't anything we lacked during our 4 day stay. I would highly recommend updating the coffee pot to a auto shut off as we left the pot on several times upon leaving only to come back to a crusty burnt coffee smell.

We enjoyed the proximity of the cabin to Asheville and the hiking trails just up the road from the cabin. Graveyard Fields/Falls is always an enjoyable morning. Get there later and you will suffer the overcrowded trails, parking and miss some of the beauty of the river and wildlife.

I would point out that our family is small in stature and the cabin is fitting for us however for larger built families I could see where it would feel confined. The upstairs loft is A Frame style and requires bending and squatting.

Lastly, the owner was responsive and clear with expectations and has been a pleasure both visits. We would highly recommend to our friends Rustic Chestnut Cabin.

Travis Carpenter and family.

Owner's Response: Travis, thank you so much for the kind review of Chestnut Cabin. I am so happy your family enjoyed the stay and found everything you needed. I'm glad you reminded me of the coffee pot as I had been looking for a replacement but lately it has slipped my mind. I'm also glad you got to get out and enjoy the surrounding areas, both Asheville and The Blue Ridge Parkway. The cabin is small, actually, the "little rustic room" was built for a playhouse for me and my younger sister by our Dad. He later added the rest of the cabin on but we must have still been little kids in his mind when he constructed the loft :) because it does require bending for most people. I'm honored that you would recommend the cabin to your friends because that is a testament of true satisfaction. Thank you for returning to the cabin and I hope to see you again soon. Wanda

Cabin with our grands

  • 5 of 5

What a great experience for the four of us: the grandparents and 2 grandchildren! It was our 6th annual Oma and Opa mystery week outing with our grandchildren. The cabin was perfect for us with the kinder having their own space upstairs. We so enjoyed the gazebo and had a great time grilling and telling stories and enjoying the candle light and visits from Maggie, the dog. The cabin was comfy and cozy and well equipped. The screened porch was great for breakfast and then later in the day for us to gather and share stories! A fun place to make memories!

Owner's Response: We are so happy you all had a good time during your "mystery week outing" in Chestnut Cabin. We're sure the kids enjoyed having their own space in the loft and hope they got to explore in the woods and at the creek behind the cabin. The gazebo is a great place to gather and when the bugs get to be too much, the screened porch is perfect. Maggie has gone back home too, as she lives in Wilmington with my sister who was here visiting during the time of your stay. Maggie is a sweet dog and our guests really enjoy it when she's in town. We hope you will consider returning to Chestnut Cabin in the future and make more wonderful memories with the family. Happy Travels, Wanda & Marie

Relaxing vacation with my family

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time staying at the Chestnut Cabin. The cabin is extremely clean and provides all the comforts of home. My kids had so much fun playing in the creek. We even had a visit from Maggie, the owner's dog. We were missing our own dogs, so we were so glad to see her! She is so friendly and fun.

The screened porch is fantastic. We ate most meals there. We took several walks around the neighborhood and had a great time watching the fireflies in the evening. The cabin is not far from grocery stores, restaurants and gas stations. It is also very convenient to the Asheville area.

The upstairs bedroom is better suited for kids or shorter people. We are a tall family and had trouble with bumping our heads. It wasn't a big issue though.

Overall, the cabin was great. We would definitely stay there again.

Owner's Response: Laura, thank you so much for the great review of Chestnut Cabin. We strive VERY hard to make sure the cabin is the way we would want to find our own vacation spot and I thank you for recognizing our effort. We are conveniently located to most anything in the area and offer a quiet country feel so we're really glad to hear you appreciated that detail also. Maggie belongs to my sister who is here visiting and does love attention. Yes, LOL, the loft is perfect for kids or vertically challenged people. I'm not sure what Dad, RIP, was thinking when he built it that way but it is what it is...we 're glad you didn't find it to be a big issue. It is such a pleasure to have guest such as you we do hope you will come back again. Please be sure to tell your family and friends about Chestnut Cabin. Safe Travels, Wanda & Marie
