About Deborah Pattin

My family has owned this waterfront cottage since 1982. We lived there full time for 11 years before building a larger house to accommodate out growing (now grown) children. We continue to vacation at the cottage, hold family gatherings, or just go over for a walk on the beach or for a outing in the boat. We live not far away from the cottage so if you need anything while you are there, have questions, need directions or referrals, etc., we are usually nearby to be of assistance. The cottage is set up like a home and you will be quite comfortable there.

Why Deborah Pattin chose Olympia

We fell in love with the property the minute we first saw it in June 1982. The cottage is nestled at the base of a hill on an acre of forested land. The road to the property is a windy country road that hugs a forested hillside. The second you drive onto the road, you feel the cooler temperature, smell the forest and the water. You give a relaxing sigh. Ah, relaxation. From the decks of the cottage, you are only 13 feet from the shore edge and you can watch the tides come in and out, and view the wildlife: deer, seal, blue heron and other sea birds, salmon, river otters and more. A wonderful place to relax.

What makes this cottage unique

Close to town but it feels like you are miles away. You can be downtown or at the State Capitol in 10 minutes, to The Evergreen State College in 5 minutes or less, and to Hwy 101 or Interstate 5 within 5 minutes, as well as to major grocery stores, shopping centers, service stations, movie and live theatres, pubs, restaurants, churches, museums, medical offices and the hospitals within minutes. But it feels like you are out in the country, in a quite, private retreat.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We were snug as bugs in a rug during the snow storm in February. It was great to have the cozy cabin to return to each evening during our 5 weeks on the job in Olympia.

Nice cottage, nice location

  • 4 of 5

We spent Thanksgiving 2017 at the cottage and we found it to be cozy, comfortable and very well-equipped. The location is wonderful, with a nice ocean view. Our only complaint was that it rained the whole week that we were there and there was no cable or satellite TV. We aren't big viewers, but when it rains for 7 days straight, it would have been a good distraction!

Owner's Response: November is notorious for its rain here in western Washington. There are big windows with lovely views, rain or shine, of the water and the forest. While there isn't cable TV, there is a big screen smart TV with a blu ray player in the living room so guests can view NetFlicks or Amazon Prime video, or play one of the dozens of DVDs provided. There are also VHS tapes, including dozens of children's films, for the smaller TV/VCR in the dining room.

Pictures and description of property are accurate

Lots of windows with great views of the water. Homeowner replies promptly to inquiries and is very accommodating. Cabin is very convenient to downtown. We had a very nice and cozy time on a typical rainy day in Oly. The tide activity/ change in water level is amazing.

Quiet get away

  • 5 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed my weekend in your cottage. So close to town and other beautiful sights. It was a perfect spot for a a quick trip to see my daughter. The kitchen staples and spices certainly made it easy. The wood stove warms the main room nicely. Views of bay, flora and fauna are amazing! Can't wait to come back for a longer stay. Communication was A+.

Quiet, Peaceful cove view with walkable beach below.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed a small family reunion, sfter my husband's sister Ruth arrived unexpectantly from CA. Thank you to Deb for helping keep Ruth's arrival on our second day secret, making her surprise arrival so perfect for us all.

A great spot to spend a quiet evening and lazy mornings during a week exploring Olympia and surrounds with my brother-in-law we had come there specifically to visit. A special completion to our west coast trip to Alaska and WA and a truly great respite before returning home back east from our trekking in Denali, etc.

Thanks for everything, the well marked cabinets, the comfortable beds, the easy to manage kitchen and comfortable dining area, and above all the beautiful cove views from almost all the windows.

A short drive downtown takes you to all the main attractions, parks and restaurants. Will be reccommending you to friends.

Brenda Hollweger.
