Unbelievably great...

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just spent 10 days at this condo, working during the week and hiking on Memorial Day weekend. So we needed a place with good internet access, a place we wouldn't mind spending a lot of time indoors, and lots of activities right outside our door for lunch breaks and evening hikes.

The location is amazing; one of the best on this luxury property because it is on the 1st floor facing the mountain so gorgeous views and EASY access right out the slider to get outdoors. I can only imagine how crazy perfect it would be during ski season.

Regarding the interior of the unit, it's even nicer than what it looks like in the VRBO pictures. The stonework on the fireplace, kitchen, bathrooms, etc. is very high end custom work. I also appreciated all of the storage space in this unit. It is really uncluttered while having the critical things like laundry detergent, cooking oil and basic cooking ingredients, great pots and pans, good wine glasses, plenty of untensils and kitchen gadgets, etc.

This was an ideal place for 2 couples. We had friends join us for Memorial Day Weekend and could offer them a bedroom which as just as nice as the master - both king sized beds, flat screen TVs, beautiful bathrooms, and luxury linens. The front desk employee was really helpful in giving me suggestions for hiking. We did 2 different hikes: Sherwin Lake and Rock Creek. If you visit Mammoth in the summertime, do not miss the Rock Creek hiking (near Crowley Lake..). The goal: get to the trail head early and be done with your hiking by 2pm and visit a place called Pie In the Sky before the pies are sold it :) Sounds touristy but it is one of the best days I've ever had hiking.

One last note. The reviews regarding the owner, Doug being helpful are true too. He checked in with us and went out of his way to make sure we were happy so we were guaranteed a memorable holiday. 5 stars.

Beautiful, well-furnished property within short walk to Canyon Lodge

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Doug's condo in Mammoth Lakes. We were impressed with how well-stocked the kitchen was with the necessary tools to make quality meals. The furniture and amenities throughout were all very nice and well-kept. The steam function in the master bathroom was also a huge plus. Parking was easy and the 1st floor location was convenient. Best of all, it is a short 5 min walk to Canyon Lodge which really came in handy for trips back and forth during the ski day. Doug was very responsive when I emailed questions prior to check-in. I can't speak highly enough about the unit and the experience. I will definitely rent from Doug again in the future!

Outstanding property, wonderful owner

  • 5 of 5

First let me say that although we are very frequent vacationers and avid users of HomeAway and other home rental services, I rarely take the time to write a property review. That being said, my wife, 14 year old son and I were so pleased with this property and the owner during our 1 week stay, we felt compelled to share our positive experience. This was at least our 6th time staying at 1849 Condos and this particular unit was by far our favorite. It's on the ground floor, extremely close to Canyon Lodge, and very easy to access even when your hands are full of ski and snowboard gear. Inside, the unit is renovated and spacious and the owner opted for quality even on the little things like pillows, blankets, furniture, frosty mugs, spices, kitchen accessories, televisions and tupperware. The unit was also extremely clean, organized and stocked just like we maintain our own home (and that's a high bar). Lastly, when we needed help with a special request half way through our trip, Doug, the owner, was super responsive and helpful. We will definitely stay here again and would highly recommend this property to families or 1-2 couples looking for a turn-key vacation rental with convenient access to Canyon Lodge and the amenities of 1849 Condos. 5 Stars.

A+++. Loved it.

  • 5 of 5

This condo is awesome for so many reasons. Location is perfect! It took us 3 minutes to walk to Canyon Lodge with our two young kids, and one of the best things was the ski locker for all of our gear. It fit a snowboard, adult skis, two pairs of kids skis, helmets and boots. It made walking to the hill super easy! Nothing to carry. The view of the mountain from the condo is beautiful, especially in the morning when the sun rises and lights up the hill. The condo itself is equipped with everything you’ll need. Soap, shampoo, kitchen accessories, spices, and coffee kcups. We made breakfast and dinner there each day, and had everything we needed. Pans, baking sheets, cutting boards, utensils. It’s a full kitchen! Having a washer and dryer was a plus for sure. There was lots of firewood, and even fire starters to make it easier to get it going, and warm right up. Really comfy couches in the family room, and TVs in every room. We only used the main family room tv, but it was nice to relax and watch the Olympics after a full ski day. The underground parking was very convenient too. We really loved our stay, and would 100% rent here again in the future. Thanks Doug!

Great Memories!

  • 5 of 5

I love to cook so it was so nice to have all the spices and every cooking appliance/utensils needed plus a lot of dishes. Provided Kcups; coffee/hot chocolate, creamers, Dove soap, Pantene shampoo/conditioner, facial wipes. Very well-stocked. Unique furnishings, comfy beds, higher end linens. We tipped the maid service in thanks for the cleanliness. I can’t forget to mention the view. You can just sit there all day and enjoy the skiers and scenery. Walk out onto huge patio that leads to the lodge. Private locker was a +. The free shuttle stops right at 1849 to take you anywhere in Mammoth till 2 AM. We loved the Hof, German restaurant at the end of Canyon Lodge parking lot, awesome happy hour, just around the corner, easy walk. We enjoyed walks to The Village, about 1 mile. Overall this is a very elegant/relaxing place for your family to enjoy and make great memories. Doug was so easy going, a pleasure to deal with!!!

Best location at 1849

  • 5 of 5

This luxury 1849 condo was AMAZING.

1: Best location on 1st level with access to patio and walk straight out and then to the right to do some sledding which is key if you are coming with kids.

2: Luxurious condo with all the fixings. Spacious with comfortable furniture. But pull out couch bed in master bedroom needs some fixing as bed sinks and squeaks. But everything else was AWESOME.

3: Very quiet as we did NOT hear neighbors above us nor to our sides (I am always concerned about thin walls and heavy ski boots).

4: Condo comes with access to a locker to store skis and boards at Canyon Lodge which made the short walk even shorter when going in for lunch and skiing consecutive days.

We greatly enjoyed our stay and hope to have another next year. Thank you. Justin
