About the property

House & Guest House, 6 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 13)

Beautiful historical stucco home and guest house on five acres with outstanding views of the mountain and valley in Ruidoso Downs. The original part of the house was built in 1895. The house is located 3 miles from the race track, National Forest within walking distance. Woodburning fireplace, gorgeous kitchen.

Perfect for all seasons- skiing, races, golf or fishing trips. Wonderful get away for the family. Plenty of room for the kids to play outside. Sunporch, deck and back patio for enjoying the mountain air!

5 acres within walking access to National Forest. On any given day, you can see Elk, deer, foxes, rabbits, coyotes, etc. on and around our property. Just hiking around the property is a fun outing, not to mention hiking into National Forest with its higher elevations and magnificent views . On the property, there is an arroyo, beautiful trees, and a variety of plant life to explore.

The house is 3 miles from the race track. It has a nice 'out of the way' setting. You will feel like you are in a mountain get away, but with close access to many amenities. The driveway to the house is on Hwy 70, but you can't see the house from the Hwy. The house is easy to get to any time of the year.

Great Customer Service!

  • 5 of 5

I had posted my review with having a bad experience at the property, but the owners called us back. I really appreciate the owner calling us back and offering an apologize and free stay because of our experience. It really talks good about them and how much they care about each of us experience. God bless you to give us the opportunity to spend a great time with our family.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Estrada & Family

Not What We Expected

  • 2 of 5

The house is pretty and cozy. We arrive late and it was hard to find. We just felt uncomfortable because the house was very dirty. There was dog pop in the dining area under the dining table, lots of spider webs around the house mainly in the kitchen. We had to clean the house upon our arrival because I have a baby and an infant and I was afraid of any spider biting them. Even when we were fixing dinner a spider felt in our food so this was very uncomfortable. The house overall is nice, just needs a few repairs like the main entrance stairs.

Owner's Response: Elizabeth, We are so devastated to hear this! We wish you would have called us and we would've had someone out there immediately to clean the house. I have no idea why there was a problem with the cleaning of the house but we would have rectified it immediately! That is unacceptable! The house is out in the country and the insect population is unpredictable but we do you have the house exterminated on a regular basis, but most importantly we would've loved to have heard from you so we could have sent an exterminator out the very next morning. Our goal is to provide our guests with a comfortable and relaxing experience. We hope you'll be our guest again in the future. We will contact you personally.

Lots of room away from town

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful country, views and places to go hiking in the area. Great restaurants and activities in Ruidoso just down the road. Great old house. Price is good. Lots of nooks and sitting areas inside and out for gathering. Great kitchen. Great internet. Needs deep cleaning. Lots of dust in fabric and under furniture. Terrible pet smell. Had to take kitchen rugs outside. Towels and linens clean but some stains and holes. Kitchen sink needs maintenance. If it is over 80 degrees, be prepared for a very hot afternoon. The living area especially gets almost unbearably hot. Cooled down by bedtime. Front step has loose tile and high step that could be dangerous. Be sure to bring soap and basic items. Overall would stay there again, but would make sure the temperatures were not supposed to get over 85.

Owner's Response: We are glad you would choose to stay with us again, but we are always disturbed to hear any negative reports! We pride ourselves in providing folks a comfortable stay! The heat is something we can't control, of course! Most homes in Ruidoso do you not have AC and at the hottest part of the summer people have to open up the windows early in the day, but there are very few days where it is hot and the nights are not super cool. We provide fans and we have ceiling fans in many of the rooms. We have a diligent housekeeper and we hate to hear that there was any dust but again in New Mexico and a historic house that's not a 100% airtight dust can sneak in but we hate to hear that it was a problem. We will make note of the other issues You listed and will immediately rectify them. Thank you again for staying with us, and we look forward to having you as our guest again.

Perfect secluded cabin

  • 4 of 5

This is a wonderful old house full of charcherter that is is close to Ruidodo but in a location that is quite and private. Our family (8 of us) spent Christmas there and it was perfect. The kitchen is very well stocked, great coffee maker, blender, crock pot, really anything you would need. The house is old, as stated and we had a few issues, but they were quickly addressed by the owner, would happily stay here again!

Very nice property. Nice and secluded. We found the house to be cozy and just what we were looking for. Many of the cabins in the area are way over priced. This house has a good price for the space. As a 15 year firefighter, I recommend moving smoke detector away from wall heater in hallway. Also, I would install a second one as well as a CO detector.
