Vintage Tahoe ~ the Cabin Making Memories Since 1957

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,200 sq ft
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Bunk Area, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

We invite you to enjoy our warm cabin get-a-way ~ A perfect location for enjoying all things special about Lake Tahoe! We are 7 minutes from shopping in Tahoe City, 15 minutes from Squaw Valley or Northstar and only a 2 block walk to lake's edge. The cabin backs to forest land so step out the back door for miles of hiking, cross country skiing or snowshoeing. In this classic Tahoe cabin you can build a cozy wood fire or drift off to sleep in plush down covered beds. Big fluffy towels are ready for you in the 2 bathrooms and the kitchen is fully stocked if you chose to cook a big meal. On the cook's night off, you can walk down to famous Gar Woods Restaurant and sip an afternoon cocktail on their open air deck. For more causal dining you must try the calzones at CB's Pizza.

Our cabin can sleep 6-9 of your crew! A bath and 2 bedrooms are downstairs with a full bed and a queen bed. Climb up the quaint wooden stairway to find the kids bunk space with 3 singles. The master bedroom is also upstairs with a wonderfully soft King-size bed and a second bath. If other friends join you last minute, pull out the comfy convertible bed in the living room.

While the cabin is cozy for couples, it's a great space for families too. The bunkroom is a favorite for kids with plush bedding and small woodland critter stuffies on each bed to snuggle with. A nice open space in the middle of the floor is a great place to play board games or build Lego creations (Legos included!)

Downstairs you will find a game table with many choices including classics like chess, checkers & backgammon, and kids favorites such as I Spy and Cranium. The living room also holds a flat-screen TV with satellite and DVD player including a nice selection of movies for the entire family.

Outside the cabin there is a big, beautiful deck off the front with peek views of the lake. The sunrise from this deck cannot be missed! You can see the amber sunrise reflected beautifully on the lake. In the backyard you will find there is just enough of an incline to make a small sledding area for the littlest ones -- and don't forget the miles of woods to discover!

Welcome to your classic Tahoe vacation! We are holding a space for your family memories.

About Linda Lessner

Texas meets Tahoe. We are an active family with 4 young kiddos from Austin, Texas. We have loved Tahoe for many years and this cabin is part of our family dream. Two of our favorite sports are snowboarding and rock climbing--both are great in Tahoe!

Linda Lessner purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Linda Lessner chose Carnelian Bay

Carnelian Bay is a beautiful area of Lake Tahoe. We have been coming to the northwest corner of the lake since 1997. The people are friendly and very interested in all things outdoors! This corner so centrally located to many things we love including snowboarding, activities in Tahoe City and rafting the Truckee River. Being so close to Highway 267, we like that it is easy to get to and from Reno Airport especially when you get some last minute snow!

What makes this cabin unique

This cabin feels like home. It is so cozy and laid back. My favorite vision is waking up on 'Texas time' to catch the morning sunrise. The first time I saw it I was amazed by the amber colors reflecting off the lake. It is so peaceful here.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Linda,

I just wanted to let you know that we all loved your cabin. It was the perfect Tahoe getaway. Old Tahoe charm with the cozy comforts you've added made for a delightful weekend. It will most likely be the last time for a while my group will getaway as a family and we made very happy memories to take with us. Thank you very much and I'm sure we will be calling again for future trips in summer. Take care.

Nice and friendly cosy cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had a very nice stay at this family friendly cabin. It was clean and well equipped, and we enjoy it was within a short walking distance to the beach. Linda, the owner, was very responsive and took care of all our needs.

Homey and Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful weekend get-away to Linda's cabin. The cabin has everything you can think of included. We enjoyed grilling our first night and then made s'mores on the firepit. (The deck is huge and has great seating.) We baked brownies and played board games the next evening after a family beach day on the lake. Our host, Linda, was absolutely lovely-- so easy to communicate with and accommodating in every way!

True vintage cabin

  • 3 of 5

This is a true cabin which doesn’t appear to have been renovated. That being said it has a certain charm— a Ben Franklin stove, rag rugs, 1950s kitchen and wood panelled walls. The kitchen is functional and the owners have equipped it with everything one needs to get started with a meal. There is no dishwasher. The bedrooms on the first floor are very small for double beds and the first floor bath is very tiny but has a shower. The bedrooms are so small that suitcases really did not fit. Perhaps the owners should think about just having a long bench in each room so that one had a place to place a bag. A large person would find it hard to maneuver. The master bedroom is up a steep stair and has a certain charm as does the “dormatory” room for kids. There is a full bath upstairs. There is a very big deck outside with Addirondack chairs. We enjoyed reading there and would have used the Webber grill or fire pit if we were staying longer. There were only 3 of us staying with one dog so we never felt crowded. It was a great place from which to hike and enjoy everything that Lake Tahoe offers. I do think it would have been tight if we had a party of 8 or if we were not heading out to hike each day. It is great to have a place where dogs are welcome. The owner’s instructions were right on and getting in was very easy. It certainly is a place to stay if you want a cabin as we did but I would not recommend it for a large group.

Perfect Tahoe cabin

  • 5 of 5

We needed a place for 6 adults & a dog for a wedding. This cabin was so centrally located for us to attend all the wedding activities. The three bedrooms worked perfectly for us. We spent most of the time on the beautifully expansive deck. The Adirondack chairs were so comfortable. The inside is Tahoe-chic and very cozy! Very nice hiking trails close by and walking to Gar Woods for a wet woody (or 2) was easy. We had a time in Tahoe and this cabin was certainly part of the reason. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again!

Obvious it belongs to an absentee owner: rundown, clutter everywhere. exterior neglected, felt dirty

  • 2 of 5

Cabin hadn't been serviced: beds unmade, laundry piles by washer, hard to locate clean linens, closets stuffed to overflowing, dirty dishes, sticky surfaces, filthy rugs, many lightbulbs missing, clock radio had corroded batteries, no screen door for hot days, exterior neglected. Couldn't wait to leave.

Owner's Response: Dear previous guest, I am so sorry for your experience. We spoke on the phone. You were aware my housekeeper to a very bad fall that day and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. I gave you a sizable refund for your stay. Additionally, our pet policy does not allow more than two dogs. You brought 5 without notifying me and kept them un-kenneled in the house while everyone was out. When you left our cabin, housekeeping service said there was dog hair everywhere and she spent an additional 2 hours getting it clean for the next guest. You were unapologetic for you lack of care of our home. I wanted to alert other home owners about your group but thought I would just let the experience go. **DEAR FUTURE GUESTS: I would point out the more that 60 FIVE STAR ratings our cabin has received. Some just weeks before this guest. This guest was upset about her particular stay because of a terrible accident keeping my housekeeper from visiting promptly and because I politely requested she review our pet policy. We have been renting our cabin home for over six years. We have always had such wonderful guests and experiences. It would be expected that life will happen sometimes and things don’t work out. Please reach out if you have any concerns. I pride myself in personal service to our guests.
