About Nancy Gavin
My husband is from Texas and I am from Ottawa. We have two boys 16 and 19. We love to travel with our boys and discover new places. Round Lake is our sanctuary and we enjoy the wonderful sunsets and views from the great room. We look forward to spending our evenings around the firepit making smores, telling stories and singing camp songs. We hope you can create some family memories of your own at our cottage.
Nancy Gavin purchased this Cottage in 2000
Why Nancy Gavin chose Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards
I grew up spending my summers on Round Lake. My parents retired here and most of my siblings have bought property here as well. We love the community, it is a very eclectic area. Lot of music, art and local talent. Festivals, farmers markets and fishing derbys. People here are friendly with a strong sense of community. This is your opportunity to enjoy our cottage and our lake community. We can offer all kinds of suggestions for outings in the area as well as leave a fully stocked binder of brochures and maps for you to plan your week. (or just stay at the cottage and enjoy the lake and sunsets).
What makes this Cottage unique
The lake is always changing. Some days it is calm, others a wind comes up and the waves can be like the ocean. I find that we have very few bugs as we are on the windy side of the lake. With South West exposure you can enjoy the sun most of the day and watch the sunset in the evening. The deck is overlooking the beach and firepit area. The lake has very few boats so it is quiet. I enjoy a morning walk to Foy Provincial Park with my dog. I walk down the beach and through the hiking trail. (about 1.5 miles round trip). The park is a non operating park so usually it is empty in the mornings. It is a magical place.

Beach house review
It was a nice place to stay, but the exterior photos didn’t represent the reality of the building. The front porch no longer exists, the deck was rebuilt and not as it shows on the photos, there’s a photo of a large beach with some trees that is *not* on the property (but the implication is that it’s right there). The amenities were really good - internet, Netflix, satellite tv, lots of movies and games, access to two kayaks and a wake board. The bedroom is *really* small, and the head board is not properly attached to the bed so any small movement causes it to clack on the wall. We slept on the pullout anyways because it was bigger, more comfortable, and roomier. The interior was being renovated to the point where the ceiling wasn’t completely finished so you could see the insulation in the roof cavity. The front door was sealed to protect from insects, but that caused there to only be one exit which is in violation of the fire code. That said, we didn’t find there to be a lot of bugs getting in. I also had to fix the ceiling fan as it was set to winter mode (wrong spin direction). Most of the “negatives” listed are all fixable though, so nothing major there. All in all, it was a great spot to stay and we would go there again.
This property is a gem! Our group enjoyed every moment and the host is super friendly!
Had a great stay in June
We had a great stay, was very happy with everything provided by the owners the view was incredible. My only negative was the mosquitos in the cabin which were more of an annoyance to my 7 year old daughter than me. We’d definitely come back.
A wonderful long weekend in June!
My partner and I stayed at Nancy's cottage for three nights in early June. We arrived around 11pm on Thursday and Nancy had been thoughtful enough to leave some lights on, so we had no problem accessing the key from the lock-box.
The cottage was very clean and just as described. The weather was wonderful, so we spent most of our time lounging on the beach or eating on the deck, but we did take the canoe and kayaks out for a few adventures on Round Lake.
We didn't get around to making a fire in the pit, although Nancy had been kind enough to supply some firewood. However, we did make great use of the BBQ and the many games kept inside the cottage.
Our stay was just the relaxing getaway that we needed and we hope to be able to stay at Nancy's again!
Very beautiful and peaceful
Very nice get away cottage. Quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Right on the lake and the view was amazing. Cottage has everything you need including indoor games for rainy days. Canoeing out in the water was nice. Lots of birds and you could hear the looms at night which was pretty cool. Best part was having a bonfire at night right by the shore. Overall a good trip. Definitely recommend for a family getaway.
Great property, beautiful view and lots of trails in the area.
Had a great few days. Cottage was obviously under renovations that weren't quite complete. Would have been nice to know before we booked but regardless we weren't there to sit inside. Beautiful property right on the water with 2 provincial parks one of them is 2 minutes away by foot.
