Diplomatic family living outside of Brazil. We return to wonderful Rio as often as possible, but enjoy our home while we're away from it.

The perfect location near the best of Rio. An apartment full of character and charm.
We were willing to see the fireworks on the New Year at Copacabana beach, and thats why we go for this apartament. But more amazing than fireworks was the apartament: its outstanding! Very well located, each room is very complete and have everything what we need near us on the neighborhood. Its perfect for people who like´s beach and confort, because you have a realy nice apartament, well furnished and can afford a very good stay for even 7 people! Its close to subway as well, wich is good too. Our host, Fernando, was also very courteous and friendly with us.
We go to Rio every few years because my husband is originally from here. We spent a week in this apartment in June and it was far the best place we have stayed for many years. The location couldn’t be better as you are a block from the beach in Copacabana and an easy walk to Ipanema and two metro stops. There are good restaurants close by, including my favorite café, and several grocery stores. But it is the apartment itself which made it such a great place to stay. There are both modern and classic touches (like the beautiful parquet floors). I especially loved the bathrooms with the gorgeous modern tile work and strong, hot showers. Another huge bonus for us (with two teenagers) was the American washer / dryer. It can be quite expensive and time consuming to go to a laundromat in Rio and this was the first place we stayed where I could easily work the machines, which are full size. The kitchen also had modern, easy to operate appliances. I can’t think of anything we needed which wasn’t provided. The fast and free Wi-Fi was especially appreciated. My husband liked the vintage photos and posters of Rio. My daughter hung out in the hammock for hours.
We definitely plan to stay here again in a few years if it is still available through VRBO.
I just wanted to thank you for allowing us to rent your apartment last weekend. My husband and I had a phenomenal experience in Rio that was made that much better by both the apartment and Fernandos customer service.
Fernando graciously received us and our bags and helped us plan out the days that we were there, providing us with everything from bus numbers to restaurant suggestions.
The apartment itself reminded us of something one would find in up-scale Greenwich Village, tastefully decorated, super comfortable, and within one block from everything one could want/need (i.e. Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, shops, restaurants, etc...).
Thank you again.

The location of this apartment is excellent. It is located just across the street from Zona Sul supermarket and a local bakery that bakes fresh bread throughout the day. Copacabana beach (Posto 6) is located 2-3 minutes away by foot. The tents that section of that beach rent chairs and umbrellas at very reasonable price and also sell icy beers and caiprinhas. Brazilians and Cariocas are excellent hosts and the bar downstairs on the street provides and friendly local watering hole.
The apartment is newly and tastefully renovated. The kitchen is certainly a chef's kitchen with large US appliances and gas cooking. The pots and pans are top quality making any meal preparation easy and pleasurable. The apartment is also equipped with a North American washer and dryer which enables travelers to save luggage space for souvenirs at the Sunday market in nearby General Osorio square and nightly along Avenida Atlantica. The shower in the master bath is a large comfortable shower with great water pressure, which many older Rio apartments lack. The lanai/covered veranda comes equipped with hammocks, great for reading on the bright mornings. The ceilings are high giving the apartment an airy spacious feel to it. I don't think you will find a better equipped apartment in the area.
The apartment is located near everything. During Carnaval you are close (5 minute walk) from the launching point of street Carnaval blocos and the metro can speed you to the Sambadromo without having to worry about traffic. Both Ipanema and Copacabana beaches are pleasant walking distances.
I highly recommend this apartment.
Our family of five (including three young adults) stayed here for four nights and we were not disappointed. It has everything to recommend it - a block from Copacabana in a safe area (and close to Ipanema too); shops for all your needs within walking distance; charming building and interior. And for Rio, at a very affordable price. We enjoyed eating at a nearby natural food "por-kilo" restaurant and there are many other places to eat in the neighborhood. Metro stop nearby. We found the owner most helpful and responsive.
My only caution concerns the small bedroom at the back, a former maid's room. Our full-grown son slept there and it was cramped for him and the adjoining shower room is basic. Just be aware of that if you need that 5th bed.
We were glad we chose to stay in this apartment instead of a hotel. We can recommend it!
If you lived in Rio this would be the perfect apartment so staying here for a weekend or a week you are immersed in perfect urban living. Modern kitchen and bathrooms plenty of room and location was fabulous. 1 block to market, 1 1/2 to Copacabana beach, any kind of restaurant close by, short walk to Ipanema for more beach, neighborhood and restaurants. Hammocks were a nice change of pace.
I agree with other reviews that photos do not do apartment justice - pictures make this look dated - in real life everything looks sharp and modern
Owner and local contact were very responsive
