Comfortable and convenient

You can't beat the location. Easy access to 80 and 89, and close to shopping and downtown Truckee. The house is well stocked with anything you need. Only downside is the freeway noise, I'd suggest earplugs.

Lovely home, great location!

  • 4 of 5

Our group of four really enjoyed our stay at Blue Heaven. We probably should have brought more people -- there was so much room. The cabin was well-furnished and not at all tacky or dusty as has been our past experience with mountain rentals. I loved the easy access to the nice roomy garage. It made coming and going in the cold so much easier. The cabin had all the amenities we could possibly need, and it was great having a grocery store nearby. We discovered that the comforters are all down, which makes them nice and cozy, but some of our group are allergic to feathers. Next time I would bring a few of my own blankets for backup. As others have mentioned, the back of the house is practically ON Highway 80, so there is constant traffic noise. This was only an issue with the upstairs master bedroom. The two downstairs bedrooms were much quieter. Both downstairs bedrooms have bunk beds, and all bedrooms have TVs, though we only used the one in the living room. I would definitely stay here again. There are lots of shops and restaurants nearby, and downtown Truckee is just a couple of minutes down the road.

Comfortable, clean, and great location.

  • 5 of 5

I stayed with with a group of 10 people for three nights. The cabin was so easy to find in a great location near Safeway. We walked across the street to Starbucks for coffee in the morning and drove 2 minutes to a $35 1 hour reflexology massage (Relax Massage).

The cabin has a lovely 2 car garage which protected our cars overnight so we didn't have to defrost every morning. Plus there is a slight awning over the front of the garage that can cover the front windows of two more cars parked on the driveway.

The kitchen is nice and open so that people cooking can still sociallize with everyone in the main family room.

The laundry machines are large and work very well. The owner even included a large box of detergent. Super convenient after the slopes.

Overall, I hope yo stay again in the future and most of my guests loved it too.

So grateful to the owners for opening up this place for the holidays.

Convenient location, lovely place

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Blue Heaven for a family vacation and had a great experience. The property was clean, well-maintained, and very well laid out for a group of 5 adults. The open kitchen and dining room were spacious and stocked with all of the necessary items for cooking and eating, which was great for our communal meals. Bedrooms and bathrooms had lots of space and extra linens; the adult children in our group thought the double bunkbeds were fun. Blue Heaven is very close to a shopping center with a major grocery store, coffee shop, gas station, etc. and it is an easy drive into Truckee (fantastic restaurants, shops, and things to do), as well as a reasonable drive to Lake Tahoe and the surround areas. Two quick travel tips for anyone who books this property: 1) As others have noted, there is some highway noise due to the convenient location -- based on other reviews we brought earplugs and were just fine. 2) As to be expected with the split-level layout, the house does have uneven heating; for our winter trip, the upstairs of this property got very hot very fast with the heat on, yet the downstairs stayed quite stubbornly cool. Another time I would think differently about who we assigned to the rooms based on their sleep temp preference. There's plenty of bedding/linens to meet everyone's needs, but it may need to be moved around a bit.

Blue Heaven

  • 4 of 5

Owner was very easy to work with and the home is well appointed with supplies, entertainment, etc. Light sleepers beware, during the summer, this home is noisy as it is right next to the expressway and you will need to keep your windows open (no ac which is the norm in Truckee). I knew the area however and was willing to give that up for location. Can walk to Wild Cherries, best coffee bar in town, Smiths and the local natural food store, the main hard wear store, etc, etc. This is a spacious unit that can sleep quite a few folks. The master is nice and private. Nice laundry. Good kitchen and appliances. Spacious garage. Will def stay again if I need it.

Great location and beautiful cabin

  • 5 of 5

The cabin's location was great! It was walking distance to the grocery store and less than 20 minutes away from Northstar Ski Resort. My friends and I loved the fact that there were board games, towels and other kitchen supplies. There was plenty of room for all of us in the cabin and Deborah was very responsive when we had questions.

When you drive to North Tahoe from the bay area this cabin is exactly where you feel like stopping. It's also in the perfect location to stop after skiing to take a shower, change clothes, have dinner and then drive back. It's at the intersection of interstate 80 and highway 89 with a short walk to Safeway and Starbucks. The hospital is also just down the street, which could come in handy.

The cabin is on a level lot and is easy to find even in the dark. The attached 2 car garage has an entrance into the cabin. You can park in the garage and unload and load the vehicle with ease. There are also Snowboard and ski racks in the garage for stowing your gear.

Other Activities: kayaking, parasailing, wildlife viewing, snowmobiling, cross counrty skiing, snowboarding
