About Karen Meyer

We call the cabin "The Dairy" in honor of our Swedish Grandfather, William C. Tell - who made his living through a dairy in California. The Tell Dairy was always a wonderful place to visit. Riding on the tractors, watching the milking machines, feeding the cows and calves, and playing in the almond orchard were big treats. But more important was the family time, the reunions, the laughs and the jokes. Morfar (which means mother's father in Swedish) died in 1993.

During the memorial weekend celebration, all of his grandchildren crafted a dream that we wanted to share a family home someday that celebrated Morfar's love of family; a place that we could come to and share time. We named it "the Dairy"and fictitiously described it as a log home, near mountains, a lake, skiing, golf, hiking and it had to be less than 2 hours from a major airport so we could all get there easily.

The Dairy is a dream come true.

You won't want to leave!

  • 5 of 5

From the minute we walked in, we fell in love with this beautiful home. It's as if when you open the door, the Dairy greets you and asks you to check your stress outside. The perfect place to retreat from city life and just relax. Take a seat on the deck and look at the mountains, cook with the family in the well-stocked kitchen and avoid eating out, or just lie down in any of the comfy beds available. Our wedding weekend was amazing! Thank you Karen for opening your lovely cabin to guests seeking some quality family time away from home. We look forward to our return.

I had my wedding here!!!

  • 5 of 5

The Dairy is absolutely gorgeous! We had plenty of space for my whole family of 11 plus 3 babies. A crib and 2 baby gates were provided, which was very convenient to block off both sets of stairs to keep the little ones on the main floor. The deck is HUGE with spectacular views. We had a small wedding ceremony on the lawn and reception on the deck with the most magnificent sunset. Dog friendly as well, which really sealed the deal - my lab got to be a part of our wedding week without having to provide alternate boarding for him. Karen is a dream to work with. Highly highly recommend.

We loved Colorado and the spectacular mountain views. We enjoyed the town of Silverthorne.....not so touristy. We would definitely recommend this place and the kind owners. The home was more than a rental. It was a home.

Quiet, cozy, rustic retreat with all the amenities one could ask for

  • 5 of 5

We had a couple of families stay here for a 5 day ski trip. Everything was amazing. It was the perfect respite from a long day of skiing. You can tell the difference between a place that is purely a rental and is sparsely furnished and equipped vs. a place that well equipped and feels like a "home". The Dairy definitely felt like a home away from home. We will be back! Thanks Karen

Cozy, warm home away from home!!

  • 5 of 5

The Dairy is a wonderful place for a family gathering. We have a group with varied interests (i.e. not all are down hill skiers!!) so this was a great location for close proximity to ski slopes, hiking/snow shoeing, cross country and some small hills for sledding for the little ones. The house is well stocked for foodies, game time and sitting by the fire with a good book. We had a terrific family time and look forward to going back.
