Guestbook comments from the owner

When I arrived I didn't have my key code. Mike, the local contact was very helpful. He not only got our key code, he checked to make sure it worked. He is fantastic! Very helpful and friendly. I know if we had any problems he would take care of them. Would be a big factor in using Marion again!

Nice condo

  • 4 of 5

Nice place to stay. Good location. Could use a deep cleaning. The back deck needs some sprucing up. Overall it was a great vacation

Almost wonderful, some glaring problems that left a bad taste.

  • 3 of 5

The condo truly was almost perfect. Location was wonderful, as Evian and Shipyard is. Upon arrival, we entered the condo and this pungent mildew smell hit us at the front door. I assumed that perhaps the condo wasn't opened up for a while, it was probably just some stagnant air, so we shook it off (we were excited to have finally arrived!). But no.

The kitchen and dining and living room was great, clean and nicely arranged. The bedrooms.... well the carpets were plain disgusting. My husband has a carpet cleaning business and knew most of the stains could come out immediately, if only it was cleaned. And then the other problem was in both bathrooms the ceiling was thickly speckled with black MOLD. Cleaners couldn't wipe it off? And then I found someone else's long black hairs in the master bed. Among other problems, I called the maintenance the very next day and spoke with a very helpful woman (Pam was great!). She arranged for a carpet cleaner to come out right away. The Wi-Fi kept dropping so she also arranged for the cable co to attend to it (Gary was so attentive!) which I really appreciated because I had a school assignment to submit for the week that couldn't be missed. The cleaning co. was supposed to come and change the beds and wipe down the bathroom ceilings- they only changed the master bedding and left all of the mold. My husband wasn't going to put up with that, so on his vacation he cleaned the ceilings so that our 3 kids and us adults wouldn't have to keep dealing with that. He couldn't get all of it, but he did take off the majority. I took plenty of pictures of the before and after, for anyone interested.

Combined with the smell, mold, filthy carpets, the unchanged bedsheets, and the terrible wi-fi on top of all of that we ended up finding two cockroaches on our very first day. One was dying in the master bathroom and the other was hanging out above my 3 year old's bed- now she was scared to go to sleep. We didn't see any more after that, and I full well know that in a tropical climate bugs are going to happen. I'm not surprised to see the roaches, but after all the other issues that was the final straw. I was actually trying to find another condo to move my family to, but on a Saturday night in peak season, and after spending all of that money, what was I going to do?

The management was great at fixing the problems immediately, but I wish the carpets and bathrooms could have been cleaned before. Would have done 5 stars.

not a good experience

  • 1 of 5

Bedroom carpets were old, dirty, and there were snack food snacks on the floor. I vacummed but that didn't remove the stains. New carpet is the only solution to the carpet issue. The master bath has mold in several spots. The backyard was totally unacceptable. Once again, filthy and table and chairs were rusting, and awning ripped through in one section. The back porch is unusable in my opinion. Disappointing to say the least.

Nicely decorated and good location but dirty and very uncomfortable king bed

  • 2 of 5

It was a dog friendly unit do we expected some dog odors but the living room sofa and chairs smelled very bad. The King bed in master suite was wore out. I called several times and spoke with office and was told they spoke with owner and they would replace the next day or two. Never happend. The decorating and kitchen appliances were nice but I had to clean the previous dog hairs when I got there and covered furniture with sheets.

Spacious, well appointed condo!

  • 4 of 5

We truly enjoyed our 2 night stay in early April. The condo is very lovely and in an excellent area of Shipyard - very quiet and beautiful. Just a 6 or 7 minute bike ride to the beach access near Sonesta resort. Large beds and TVs, spacious kitchen and dining area. The shower in the master bedroom is very large and a nice perk!

We did not use the patio, but it will need a very good cleaning to be useable and to look like the picture. Would give the housecleaning crew a "B" - not great, but ok, needs a bit more attention to detail.
