Guestbook comments from the owner

When I arrived I didn't have my key code. Mike, the local contact was very helpful. He not only got our key code, he checked to make sure it worked. He is fantastic! Very helpful and friendly. I know if we had any problems he would take care of them. Would be a big factor in using Marion again!

Tega Cay, SC

it could use a little tender loving care

  • 4 of 5

I had read all the mixed reviews on this place, so I wanted to wait until we got there before I formed an opinion. With that said, it wasn't all the bad. Yes, some of the furniture was a little, I wouldn't say worn, but maybe bleached out by the sun.

Plenty of dishes and pots and pans. But we did wash some of the dishes, pots and pans and silverware before we used them. I made sure and took plenty of dishwasher soap, knowing we were going to be there for Thanksgiving. They don't leave any extra garbage bags for the kitchen.

Didn't see any pet stains. Carpets in bedrooms could use a good deep cleaning. Some of the grout in the master bathroom could use a good scrubbing. The hot water is HOT but we tested the water before jumping in the shower.

There was some dust on the decorations hanging on the walls. Several light bulbs burned out, but I bought a package and we changed out a few.

The kitchen tile floor was dirty. Our shoes were sticking to the floor. So we just made sure not to walk barefoot on the tile.

The king bed was soft and/or old. But the queen bed in the other bedroom was very comfortable. The windows in the master bedroom need replacing. You open the bottom half and the top half comes down. But there are full screens in those windows.

The patio table is in dire need to be replaced but the chairs are still in good shape. Gas grill on the patio but we didn't use it.

All in all, it's not that bad. There a dehumidifier that needs to be emptied everyday but not sure who does that, we did everyday. I did take a can of Lysol and sprayed all the furniture to help with the musty smell.

But all in all, it's not that bad of a condo. Great location. Short bike ride down to the Sonesta (?) resort for the beach access. Or you can ride out to the Pope avenue gate and ride down to Coligny beach.

We would consider renting this place again, especially because it is pet friendly. It's nicer than the pet friendly hotel we used to use, that is for sure.

Tennis courts and pool are literally right across the street.

Never Got To see

  • 1 of 5

I made my reservation weeks in advance. Never got the email to get in. Had to sit for hours outside the security guard hut calling to get codes. The owner didn't even inform anyone of my arrival. If it wasn't for Homeaway putting me up in a hotel my whole weekend would have been ruined.

We were told that the mold/mildew reported in a previous review was all eliminated. This was not true. When entering the unit we were greeted by a strong musty odor like the smell of an old wet basement and a loud dehumidifier running wide open. There was mold on several ceilings. The back porch was filthy. The metal around the glass top of the outdoor table had so much rust on it we couldn't even sit at. The bottoms were falling out of 2 of the outdoor chairs. This unit has been poorly maintained. The doors are missing from the laundry room in the hall. The temperature on the hot water heater is set so high that it could scald you. The carpets appear old and worn. Same with the bed spreads and the upholstered furniture. There is even mildew on the legs of the dining room chairs. The unit looks like it only gets minor cleanings. The hinges on the master bedroom door were caked in dust and what looked like pet hair. The air conditioning intake grill was covered in dust/dirt. Same with the bathroom vent fans. Walls, baseboards and bathroom ceilings need painting. Overall this unit is not very clean, has been poorly maintained and smells like a wet basement. No where near worth the price.

This unit desparately needs some TLC

  • 1 of 5

The condo I rented is dark and needs a paint job with some lighter, neutral colors. New lighting is needed. New blinds are needed instead of whatever hangs on the windows and doors. The outside is not taken care of at all. Much help is needed to renovate. Everything is old. The couches smelled bad. The beds are uncomfortable. There were no kitchen towels. The humidifier was mysteriously working non stop. The deck furniture is old and rusty, not at all like the picture depicts. Debris scattered all over the deck and sidewalks. All kitchen pots and pans were old and cheap. There was a musty smell that assaulted our noses as soon as we entered the unit. We are not picky people but we are not sure how anyone could give a favorable review of this unit. I suggest gutting the place and starting over from scratch.
