Peter & Margaret Pigeon are Canadians who are retired teachers from Ontario. We purchased our first property in France in 1990, in the Gard in Cavillargues. We purchased this property, in Cairanne , in 2005 and have been renovating for the last 5 years. We have been living in France, full time, for the last 7 1/2 years. Peter does all the designing and renovating himself.
The Owner purchased this house in 2005
The Vaucluse is a very lush, well kept, refined area, with spectacular views, fabulous wines, and many cultural events and historical features.
Cairanne is a small, friendly village, providing many amenities and a very special living environment.
We love the area, the people, and have become acquainted with many of the locals and are highly involved in the life and community here.
Went to Provence in September 2014 and rented this lovely home. It was everything and more than the description and pictures had shown. The hosts were very accommodating with information of the areas activates and amenities. Highly recommend this lovely home.
Our stay in Provence was especially memorable as a result of this wonderful home we had the privilege to stay at. As two couples that love to cook we were so pleased to have such a well equipped kitchen available to us. Thanks to the detailed information prepared by the owners we were able to search out many of the local markets and wineries that were recommended as "must do's". The house had several outdoor seating areas that were great spots for dining, cocktail hour or just relaxing in the sunshine. We especially enjoyed the relaxed pace of Cairanne and region during late May. We loved our time here and look forward to a return visit. Thank you Margaret & Peter for opening your home to us.
We found this house to be perfect for our stay in Provence. The house is very nice and the views are outstanding. The Pigeons were so helpful with all the information that they supplied about the house and the area. The house is beautiful and so comfortable There are great restaurants within an easy drive and the local wine is outstanding. We were two couples and it fit our needs completely. We look forward to returning there in the future.
My wife and I just returned from a two week vacation in Cairanne with our daughter. We loved everything about Margaret and Peter Pigeon's home and its central location to wineries, restaurants and sightseeing. We went to the Luberon, the beach at the Mediterranean and visited many local villages and markets.
The Pigeon's supplied us with so much useful information before we arrived allowing us to plan our trip in advance. They were very responsive from our first contact with them to our final good bye.
It was hard to say au revoir to the lavender, sunflowers and glorious food and wine, but we hope to return to the most magnificent part of France.
The villa looks like a house from an architectural magazine and the setting is ideal. It more than lived up to our expectations. Photos cannot capture the beauty of the sunsets. The villa was well appointed and had everything we needed and more. Cairanne and the older village is very quiet and private. We found a local flying club about 30 minutes away and arranged for a flight with a very personable, experienced pilot who spoke english. I recommend this activity if you enjoy small planes. WIthout question I would not hesitate to recommend this property especially for the history, wines and scenery. We made good use of the suggestions left by the owner regarding shopping and places to see.
This villa is one of the most outstanding villas that we have stayed at with VRBO. The location is amazing, right in the middle of so many incredible wineries, villages and markets. Margaret, thanks for all the information-it helped us find great markets, wine cooperatives, vineyards, towns and grocery stores. Your information had something for everyone. The town of Cairanne is wonderful, we really enjoyed the low key nature of the town.
The villa wa samazing. The balconies were wonderful to enjoy the spectacular views where you could see for miles, the courtyard was great for lunches or dinners when the wind s started to blow; the gardens were beautiful-we saw a different color Iris bloom every day; the kitchen was fabulous-you couldn't ask for anything more-the cooking pans, grill, range, wine glasses, herbs and spices; the bathrooms with the rain shower head and heated towels were wonderful. The villa was wonderfully comfortable.
Thanks for the hospitality with the wine rack that you could borrow from, we took advantage of it especially when we arrived.
The bikes were great. We had great fun starting out and going down hill, but had a great workout on the return trip.
We highly recommend this villa and hope to return in the future. Thanks Margaret and Peter.
