We were fortunate to find this gem as we planned for a visit to love on our plebe. The cottage was perfect. We had another midshipman's parents stay with us and it worked out well. We even had a few Mids over after the football game. We were able to cook for them and there was plenty of space to accommodate dinner, laughter and conversation. Something we could not have done from a hotel room. The sun room on the side of the house was perfect for them to relax and the parents were able to sit out there too and enjoy their stories. The bay was beautiful and so close. We also like the convenience of getting to the academy. There is only one bathroom, but that was not a problem with our family and the couple who stayed with us. We easily made it work. There is not a lot of room a long beds in the double bed bedrooms, but we were only in the bedrooms to sleep and this was not a problem for us. The kitchen is also small, but we accommodated all our guest and it was fun and homey maneuvering around each other as we prepared the food. There is also a nice screened in detached room in the backyard. We did not use this area, but if it would have been warmer on our visit, I know we would have. The owners are local and easy to access and they are ready to help. We will definitely return. Thank you for sharing your home.
We enjoyed our stay at this home, which was very convenient to a wedding we were attending while in Annapolis. The owner was nice and very helpful, and the home was clean and inviting when we arrived, with fresh sheets and towels. The layout of the home is a bit odd, and I would have appreciated additional photos before arriving. To access the back bedroom area (which is an enclosed porch area) you have to go through another bedroom. And the only, very small, bathroom, is in between the two bedrooms. The sun porch and the screen porch would have been wonderful additional space for hanging out, if we had been here in warmer weather. As it was we only spent time in the main front living room area because it was a colder October weekend. The neighborhood was nice and quiet, and though we didn't have time to utilize the community beach area, it was very close by. The kitchen was small, but well stocked, and open to the living room. I'd recommend this place for families with kids or very close friends who don't mind having to share space (i.e. going through each others bedrooms to access other rooms) and only one bathroom. And I would certainly suggest it for warmer months as the outdoor spaces looked very inviting even though we didn't use them.
If you are interested in history and relish the peace and quiet of a beautiful Chesapeake Bay get-away, this is the place for you! The cottage is very clean, comfortable, well-appointed and features original hardwood doors and fixtures and some original hardwood paneling. Enjoy walking the community and meeting the friendly denizens, sitting in a beach chair gazing over the Bay, or drive to nearby downtown Annapolis for delicious seafood, tours, kayaking and shopping! Return for a relaxing evening on the large, screened-in sun porch. The owners were very professional and delightful to deal with. Had the owners not been so nice, we would have kept this gem as our little secret. Great for a couple's weekend get-away!
This was a wonderful place to stay, very clean and nicely furnished. The home seems much bigger than the pictures would indicate. The cable TV and internet service were a plus. The cupboards were stocked with any type of kitchen equipment you could need. Grocery stores were only a few miles away which gave us the ability to make our meals at the house. (There were many choices for restaurants, should you want to eat out.) The neighbours were very friendly. answering any questions we may have had about the area. We were able to go down to the water to swim, crab and even just enjoy sitting by the shore; watching the osprey flying back and forth to their nests. In the evening we saw deer and fox! It was very relaxing and accommodating for our family. Should we be in the area again we would love to come back and stay and would recommend this to anyone else we knew going down to Annapolis.
