About the property

Apartment, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Le Marais, the old narrow streets, barely wide enough for a car, that navigate through 400 years of 17th century Paris. The Marais, a melange of hip boutiques along the Rue des Francs Bourgeois, the Jewish ghetto of the rue des Rosiers that dates back to the 13th century and some of the trendiest cafes, brasseries and restaurants in all of Paris.

This cross section of ethnic cultures and Renaissance Parisian architecture is home to the Musée Picasso, the Musée Carnavalet and the grandest of all old squares in Paris, the Place des Vosges, a masterpiece of brick facades and harmonious stone arches.

Our recently renovated, two bedroom, two bathroom apartment on the Rue des Tournelles is less than a three minute walk from the Place des Vosges.

This 835 square foot apartment, on the first floor (second floor American with elevator) of a 19th century 'Regency' building has been lovingly renovated and restored. The old herringbone floors shine as they reflect the light from the floor to ceiling windows. The grand plaster molding sits majestically atop the 12' high walls, and a gold leaf Napolean III mirror once again hangs above the 19th century marble mantel of the living room.

What a joy to wake up to coffee and croissants at the slate counter-top of our open style, fully equipped kitchen. There are lots of bakeries and food shops minutes from the apartment door. In fact, the largest outdoor market in Paris near Place Bastille on Rue Richard Lenoir is just a 5 minute walk away.

There is a 'very comfortable' large queen sized (160cm/63' wide) mattress in the master bedroom and large (90cm/35.5'wide) twin mattresses in the 2nd bedroom which can also be made into a (180cm/71' wide) king size bed. Both bedrooms look out onto a very quiet courtyard.

The 11 sq ft shower of the master bathroom is roomy and comfortable, and the 1920's Metro tiles help evoke a wonderful retro feel to the otherwise contemporary second full bathroom.

Everything was chosen for design and practicality, from the Miele washer-dryer to the LCD television to the code free DVD player. Even the quilts are hypoallergenic white Hungarian goose down. Everything is top notch, right down to the large black and white landscape photographs by American artist, Stuart Rome.

Services included in the cost; local phone calls, cable TV with CNN, BBC and lots of English movie stations, free and unlimited high speed WIFI internet, linens, towels and the final cleaning.

Our bilingual associate will not only meet you at the apartment to give you the keys, she’ll stay and walk you through the particulars of the appliances. And, she'll just be a phone call away if you need any help during your stay.

In the apartment you'll also find our guidebook to the neighborhood; favorite restaurants, cafes, wine shops, bakeries, and markets. You could spend a week in Paris and never leave Le Marais, even though the Seine, the Louvre, Notre Dame and the Musée D'Orsay are just a short walk away.

A dear friend of mine recommended Paris rentals to us, so I emailed them to see if there was a chance an apt. was available. Eirwen went out of his way to respond to all my emails in inquiring, with kindness and patience. I am so glad that we decided on his 2 bedtroom apt on rue des Tournelles as its extra space allowed us the luxury for one of us to sleep in while the other got up earlier to work on the computer. Also our daughter and her fiance were able to stay with us for a couple of nights, having the dining room and the couches in the living room we were all very comfortable in seating arrangements and the extra bedroom and bathroom afforded privacy for all.

We were met right away by Lee who is lovely and she answered our many questions and then she returned to the apt. at the end of our stay to guarantee all went well during our stay and she had arranged for Robert to take us to the airport and he was equally delightful.

The location is excellent, an amazing bakery within yards, then one short walk and one is on rue st Antoine with cafes, markets, shops and metro. If one goes in another direction there is Place des Vosages, history unfolds right under your feet. We walked everywhere, and at the end of the day it was nice to come home to a warm and welcoming place. We could have easily spent days just enjoying the Marais neighborhood where our apt was as there was so much to see and do.

The beds were very comfortable, we all slept well ,as the bedrooms back on to a courtyard. The kitchen provided all items that we may need, Bathrooms were a good size with ample hot water. It was also wonderful to have a washer and dryer. There were plenty of tour books or ones just to read available as well.

My husband and I highly recommend this apt. and the Paris Rentals who went out of their way to ensure our stay in Paris was a five star experience. Thank you so much. We will be back soon ,as Paris and its people are amazing.

Enjoyed out stay

Great location and helpful and responsive service from the agency. Met our expectations and more. We are in our70's and we found we could walk to many areas plus use the Metro easily for other attractions. The apartment was comfortable for four adults.

Another Wonderful Stay in the Marias

  • 5 of 5

Four of us visited Paris to celebrate three birthdays, one graduation and long friendships. The apartment on Rue de Tournelles was a perfect place. Our experience was exactly as described in the review from Brian and Dale, down to the Sunday market on Blvd Richard Lenoir and the nearby shops. Eirwen was wonderfully accommodating in the planning (thanks for the extra hairdryer). Axel took very good care of us during our stay. Yes, the wireless internet really works. When there is activity on the street, you have the choice of enjoying it with the windows open or complete serenity with the windows closed Go to Blvd Beaumarchais for the Boulangerie. Thank you. We WILL be back.

A great place for a family vacation in Paris!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in Paris in February. We found the apartment to work out

great for 4 people, including a young child. Axel and Amy, the apartment agents , were extremely helpful familiarizing us to the apartment and the area. The location is fantastic and within easy walking of many excellent restaurants . The Bastille Market place, on Sunday and again on Thursday,

is only about a 10 minute walk. There are many patisseries in the immediate area. Do not miss

going to Chez Janou, just up the street. Very friendly and good food.

Convenient and Comfortable describe this lovely apartment in the 4th Arrondissement!

  • 5 of 5

Thrilled is the way to describe our feelings about this cute apartment. The apartment is very small by American standards, but huge by Paris standards. It fit the 5 of us adults perfectly, however, the 6th friend who backed out at the last minute would have made it miserable. There are 4 chairs at the small dining room table and 3 stools at the bar so when you have meals, someone would be sitting on the couch with their plate on their laps. The very well supplied kitchen is not the problem, space is.

I cooked a nice pasta dinner for 2 of us one evening. Shopping for just that very simple meal to cook was difficult. They don't have a lot of prepared foods unless you visit one of the larger markets which would mean a taxi (expensive and time consuming) or a metro ride to get the food. We did buy supplies for breakfast and ate in every morning. Lunch and dinner were eaten out for convenience. Our favorite, Chez Janou, was about 50 steps down the street so it made it very handy plus the food was delicious and not too expensive.

The pictures on the website are very accurate with the exception of the living room. Another couch (a fold out) has been added.

Plus: Location near great bakeries, grocery stores and metro stop. Spacious for 5 adults. Well organized kitchen for cooking. Great security and service. Great Internet. Near Chez Janou restaurant.

Minus: Dryer doesn't work very well. Pull out couch is very hard to pull out. Have them demonstrat

Owner's Response: Thank you for the kind comments. There are 6 dining chairs in the apartment, so I am a little baffled as to why this client said there were only 4 chairs, maybe someone put them in the bedrooms! The washer/dryer is a combination and it works best for drying with small loads.

Excellent Base for a Family Visit to Paris

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 night stay in this apartment. The photos are accurate and represent the apartment well. All the facilities were in good working order, and Axel gave us a very complete orientation making us feel at home immediately. We enjoyed the neighborhood. There is a good boulangerie on the corner and Chez Janou across the street had a great vibe and excellent food. We would definitely use this apartment again when we return to Paris.
