The rates are lower, the crowds have left, the weather is comfortable and the foliage is spectacular!!! Acadia National Park is rated among the best places in the United States to view fall foliage!

Enjoy a picnic on Windward Shore's Private Dock. Watch the activity in the harbor as working lobster and fishing boats mingle with exquisite yachts. When the sun sets behind you, experience a sight unparalleled as the boats in the harbor are illuminated...gorgeous!
This VRBO partner has demonstrated and is committed to fast response times, the best rates, and a great guest experience.
Cleanliness, furnishings and equipment all excellent. We had a wonderful time and would definitely come back + recommend to others. Locaton is fantastic!
My family and I enjoyed our week at "the port"
The views of the harbor are amazing especially from the hot tub! The condo is well equipped, clean and has a convenient location! Walk to town for fresh baked goods or ice cream...
Jane, the property manager, is a delight and can give great recommendations for local eats etc
No doubt we will be back to stay at the Port-its truly a little slice of heaven and the harbor views are second to none! Can't wait to return next year!!!
We have stayed in these condos for the past 2 years and enjoyed the absolutely perfect view of the harbor with stunning sunrises . The condos are well equipped and the manager, Jane, is outstanding in attention to every detail. I would recommend this property to all
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Port. The views were spectacular! All accommodations were outstanding. Loved the deck, patio, pier and hot tub! Southwest Harbor is a great vacation spot. Beal’s Lobster Pier was very enjoyable, loved talking to the locals. My favorite hike was Wonder Land trail through the pines to the ocean, not far from the condo. I would highly recommend this vacation rental!
This was our 2nd stay in Port at the Windward Shores. Both visits we stayed for 3-4 weeks and lacked for nothing. The location is perfect for accessing the main village of SW Harbor on foot and Acadia National Park by car or free shuttle bus. The views SW Harbor, the Marina and the outer islands are awesome in any weather, day or night. The condo is well appointed and the kitchen is well stocked with appliances/utensils/dishes. We did purchase 4 wine glasses as there were none. We donated them to Port for future wine lovers. A great place for up to 6 guests except the dining table only accommodates 4. We will definitely return to Port the next time we visit Mt Desert Island.
Port is one of three units in a tri plex that was developed about 35 years ago by the owner of Dysarts Great Harbor Marina which is at the forefront of your awesome view. The unit has been well maintained and managed professionally. The center unit (midships) is also managed and owned by the same company but the starboard unit is owned by a really nice local couple who use it themselves.
We had six in our unit including my two teenage children. We found the unit to be cozy but comfortable. My brother in law and sister in law slept up in the loft. They were initially concerned about the steep stairway leading up to the loft and having to get up at night to go to the bathroom. They got used to it after a couple days and limited the trips up /down.
The children slept great in the back room which is like a cave (not much light or airflow. My daughter would go down into the master bed room and look out over the harbor while she played on her phone/ipad.
The bathrooms are tight but functional. The front bathroom should have a pocket door because there isn't enough room to get around it while the door is opened. The kitchen is small but is fully stocked for those that want to cook and take advantage of the view. We intended to go out most nights but found ourselves either cooking in or ordering take out so as not to miss the view.
My son has autism and is non verbal. He was captivated by the movement of boats in the harbor. He loved the hiking and swimming but I really think he couldn't wait to get back to the "port" to sit on the couch and look out at all the the activity. We also would use the hot tub in the evening and got to see fog rolling in over the hills into the harbor and the harbor lights. I had a hard time getting him out of the hot tub to get ready for bed.
The location of this unit is great. You could easily walk to town to pick up groceries at sawyers or go to great restaurants for either take out or eat in. Our favorite was Cafe 2 eat a pita. The grumpy''s breakfast place isn't always opened as we found out its the owners option. We mostly hiked the western side trails in the park or swam at echo lake. We also rented a boat at Mansells boat rental and went to lunch on little cranberry island and cruised the harbors and some sound. There is plenty to do on this side without having to truck all the way to Bar Harbor to be with the masses. I highly recommend Port
Condo was great. Everything we needed was provided. Exceptional views. The kids loved fishing off the dock and we even ventured down to the water (very carefully) to collect some sea glass.
Hot Tub!
